i like the idea of variations etc But what if we were to end up with a colour shade that we did not like ? lol i mean Pleo RB would be coming along way to get to me in first place unless they get Pleo back out there to the world it would not be easy to send back for another 1 .

i can not wait to hear the interview hopefully it will answer everything or most questions i have going around my head , my main concern is are they still aiming pleo at the younger generation ? as in the under 11's . i like the idea of the learning stones and the extra leafs what i am not to keen on at moment is the way they have gone about it by using the special chip and this being the way that pleo will recognise these items , as this tells me that they have not improved Pleo's sight and most likely not improved his hearing . If they could improve on these areas this would make Pleo look more sophisticated in the robotic world and in turn would suddenly become more appealing to a much wider audience .

I'm sort of reserving judgment on that, as as far as I can tell Pleos sight and hearing themselves weren't so bad, he just didn't do much with them.  If, as I understand, Pleo Rb is to be able to learn his name then I'm happy with that, especially if he retains the red colour tracking introduced (theoretically at least  :P!) in the OS2 version ........

I AM pleased to hear about the colour variations - that was the only reason I could think of that made sense of the plain cape shown in the box! Hurrah!!  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for the info, but now I'll be on tenterhooks all weekend! :P

Well, barretgazzy, I'm afraid you're wrong on all points.  Which you'll actually be glad you are . . .  ;) but I'm still going to make you wait. ;)

But I don't want others to be mislead by your conjectures . . .

Innvo Labs does understand who their market is, and once you learn about all the improvements, you'll realize they aren't geared towards the young kid.  But I realize you don't have all the info yet . . . ;)

The use of the chips to recognize the learning stones does NOT mean they are taking the easy way out rather than improving the hearing or vision.  In fact, it's just the opposite.  In order to implement the functions related to the learning stones they have had to make significant improvements in the hearing and vision.  But there again, we haven't shared that info yet . . . ;)

SO just hang in there . . .   all will be made clear in the next few weeks. ;) :D

That is what i mean with improvement , there is no point having the vision and hearing capability if its not going to be put into use by Pleo . Its good to hear that i am wrong on the above post then .
So hears hoping Innvo have been creating a life os that will make use of the camera and stereo sound hearing in a more realistic and pleasing way . If they could get Pleo to really search for the face of people like Look up at them follow their movements etc at times this would really create realism .

i hope we do not have to wait a couple of weeks to hear the Audio Grumpy ? lol

going back to subject already talked about just for 1 min  ;D i was just reading in depth a bit more about Spykee wifi spy robot by meccano usually over looking it as it did not appeal to me but any hows i read that this robot also has the ability to go back to its docking station and self charge all by it self .  :P

im liking the sounds of possibly improved sight and hearing. or at least if what sight and hearing he had was put to use. i hnestly think my pleo was deaf, he never turned to any noise i made :P
little shame that theres no extra servos. he realy needed them in his legs. so they could move in all directions. our legs arent limited to just going back and forward, neither are all otehr animals. so it does restrict his realistic movement if his legs cant go sideways.  it would have helped his slow walking too.
but its not a huge problem if his AI is vastly improved and his camera and mics have been put to use.
im all for pleo being more pet like than robot like. but thats not an excuse for him to be dumb and a doornob! XD i think ive had fish with more brains than the original pleos.  not to say it want a good start, and he cirtainly was cute.  i suppose he was a bit like a supermodel. not much in the head but he was nice too look at ;)
they can remember their name now? thats pretty nice :) at least if its going to be pet like it can know some commands like sit (though he struggles with it, rofl), play (dance?) etc.  heck ive seem some pets trained to know hundreds of tricks. mainly parrots, but pattots aaare related to dinosaurs, so it could work. :D

i look forward to more updates on how the new pleo is. if his price is the same as before, or not much bumped up, and hes had considerable upgrades to his marbles, then i may just have a catbug II.  but its not as high prioroty just yet as a 3DS and a ERS7 aibo. :S hahaha.

I Agree with barrettgazzy , I'm all for the new things that are now included with pleo and that there is now variation in colour is a great extra too. But sorry i may be a bit harsh now but pleo is never gonna stop being a toy until he can recognise his owner , self feed (charge himself) and walk around without the need to be picked up every time he gets stuck or falls over. He carnt even pick himself up from a tip over.

I mean at the moment he is just a furby that has the ability to walk around.

I don't do robotics and because of that don't really understand how hard of wot i say is actually possible . I just know Ive seen the same sort of stuff on other robots and know it works for them.

I just hope that these secrets are really good surprises maybe we will all be glad of wot we find out . But i suppose some will be disappointed too. Cannot please everyone i suppose.

yeah more freedom in the legs would of been ideal and the ability to sit and get back up from sitting position would of been good improvements . Getting Pleo to actually lay down would be a awesome improvement laying how my bulldog lays i can just picture Pleo doing that But can see that would of been a bit tricky for pleo to then get back up in stand position but if they worked a bit more on the legs it could be achieved .

i can not wait to hear more i hope there will be a few more surprises for me to take in , i do not think they have added the ability for pleo to self dock though which is a shame But most likely they would have to give pleo more freedom movement in his legs to achieve such a task successfully .

Thanks for the info Grumpy ;)

But, sorry, I dont think i'll get one if Innvo doesnt distribute Pleo in Italy or Europe (maybe you dont know, but I was part of the PLEO Customer Service in Italy and the forum cheaf, and now i dont have a job). It's very expensive for us to buy electronic items and toys from USA and Japan, you have to pay customs charges and you know how bad is the economic situation at the moment :(

Yeah custom charges are a pain and i hope innvo really do take our concerns serious on that matter . I am quite certain there are Lots of places in UK that would be willing to distribute Pleo Reborn, i mean the first Pleo's where in Argos , Littlewoods catalogue etc So would be nice to see pleo reborn available again at these places.

This time They need to also advertise Pleo Reborn we want to see a commercial up and running in all countries that can only get more people interested and buying Pleo Reborn .

Absolutely agree, it really shouldn't have to be so hard.  I'm dealing with an import charges issue at the moment on a US purchase, where they charged me for the insured value (up to £500) on a £200 purchase - it will get sorted in the end, but who needs to have to deal with that! >:(

Yeah i am quite certain when they released the 2009 Pleo's had they put out a commercial  and got Pleo out there so it was easier to buy it would of been a Big seller once again .

As it were i do not think People in UK who was not following Pleo even knew about the innvo pleo's or when it was released , This really can not happen again for Pleo Reborn and if rb is going to be available for xmas they need to start getting Commercials out there soon to give people the chance to save up and purchase him in time for Xmas .

I like the different-colored leaves that'll come with the Pleo. I'm thinking we can/do buy the extra Learning Stones (since it only comes with 1). As far as I'm concerned, birds are distantly "related" to dinosaurs. I equate that to monkeys/primates to us Humans. We look nothing alike. Woot, I love that there'll be 10 different eye colors to choose from! I wonder what variations the 10 different eye colors will be. I can't wait to see a picture(s) of the 10 different eye colors! I really, really hope/want you to be able to pick/choose. It should be about choice! I'd love to have a 2010 Pleo with fantastic, special-looking eyes! I'm really happy they aren't "geared" for mere kids. That's great that they've made really significant improves on its vision. I'm definitely buying (that's never been a question, even with the all-new news) a 2010 Pleo for myself!

I'm so thrilled about the eye colours - much as I love the blue eyes, the fact that this design can be found under the 'Pleo' name on Cafe Press was something I always found particularly tantalising, and it's what started me hunting for an amber eyed Pleo! :D

I tryed to see the photo, the page came on but all I got was a tight square with lots of different colored dots....not sure why I couldn't see the Pleo/ anyway, I would love to see a Pleo with amber eyes, golden eyes like a cats eye, grey or shades of Green and of course, beautiful Violet eyes like Elizabeth Taylor's eyes, they are gorgeous. I am hoping the skin colors are variations too, it sounded like it from the description we got,
Now only if we got a good clue on the price so we can save up .....I still think it is something like $450.00, would be nice if it was less and proved me wrong. ;)

You couldn't see the Pleo because there was no Pleo (:

Just early designs for the eye of Pleo.

Thanks Allo, perhaps I should have given more of an explanation!  :-[

It just seemed so sad that they came up with all those beautiful designs, I really love the amber eyes with green or blue centres, and then didn't use them.  Almost all of them are beautiful, even if the truly reptilian ones might have been a bit much.  I wonder if they'll use some of them now?  :)

I wondered that, but I can't see how it could possibly work so I'm guessing not.  Slightly disappointing, but I'm OK with that.  I did also wonder if maybe the packaging would be more transparent, though, for when (or if!) they're on shelves in stores.  8)
