Hi,

I successfully installed Dino-MITE but the solution was not very intuitive !

The command "regsvr32 \windows\system32\COMDLG32.OCX" doesn't work in the standard "command prompt".
I need to launch the command prompt as an administrator and then the command was succesfull...

After that, the install of Dino-MITE was ok :)

Hi,

I have the same message in Dino-MITE with my 2 pleo RB and they are not bricked, so I don't think it's the problem.

But I tried to update my new ugobe Pleo with any success and it stays bricked to...
If you found a solution since your post, I am interesting by your advice :)

It's with sadness that I recently learned that John Sosoka had passed away in 2021. John was the CTO (chief technology officer) at Ugobe and lead the team that developed Pleo from the beginning. I didn't know him personally but have read a lot about him (and Caleb Chung) and how he developed our beloved Pleo robot.

Sorry to reply a couple of years later, but does anyone have an answer to this question besides eBay? I've seen a person get a brand new Blue Pleo straight from PleoWorld in 2021, so it seems like they occasionally make Pleos. Does anyone know if PleoWorld still create them in 2023?

2 two things that may be helping. 1 check if the battery actually works and two the SD card has to be at one GB.

I know that old Ugobe should work just fine after so many years. I hope that this was helpful. 🦖🦕✌️

I don't know if anyone posts here anymore, but it seemed like the best place to find info.  I just pulled my Pleo, Isa, out of her carrying case.  I haven't played with her in probably 12 years.  I got her back in 2006 or 2007, I think, so she's one of the original ones.  I charged up her batteries, but she won't do anything.  So I found this forum and figured I should sjust try to restart her as a baby.  I downloaded the 1.1 operating system on a SD card.  I followed the instructions, and I get the chimes, then Pleo goes "Huh?", then more chimes, and it goes on like this forever.  After a few minutes, the chimes will stop and my Pleo will move a little bit, maybe her tail, or open her eyes, then the chimes start up again.  We're going on about 45 minutes like this.  If I try to turn her off and take the SD card out, then turn her back on again, she just says "Huh?"  I'm not sure what else to do at this point.  I would so love to play with her again.  The instructions said that once the download was done, the Pleo will wake up, then go to sleep, and that's when you turn it off and take out the SD card.  But she never actually goes to sleep.  So how long exactly does the download take?  Do I leave it until it stops chiming?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Dawn and Isa, the Pleo

Hi guys!
I tried reset my pleo.
Prepare SD card (8GB), create 1GB partition.
Move POP OS files to SD root.
Insert in into PLEO and turned on it.
After 10 minutes pleo still frozen.
I connect USB and open terminal in Dino-MITE.
I see loop of log messages:
ERROR: low: io: CARD init failed with 16
INFO: low: Loading SD card
But before firmware update card working well.
Please help me unbrick my Pleo. Thank you

Hi,

I don't know if this topic already exists but I wanted to give all new Ugobe owners out there a quick summary of the differences between LifeOS 1.0, 1.0.2, 1.1, 1.1.1 and LifeOS 2.
For those who don't know what I'm talking about: Consider visiting the downloads section of the forum to find out what a LifeOS actually is.
It's basically the software that makes your Pleo work - Just like Windows, MacOS or Linux on a computer or laptop.

There are many different LifeOS versions to choose from:
LifeOS 1.0: The original (made by Ugobe):
LifeOS 1.0 is the very first LifeOS version. I think it was released with the Pleo in 2006/2007.
A downgrade file to 1.0 is available in the downloads section.
When I installed LifeOS 1.0 on Oessaja, she was very cheerful and looooooved to play with her training leaf. She was the happiest Pleo ever and even reacted to the sound of my voice with different happy coos and purrs. She wasn't needy at all so I could let her explore the room without upsetting her.
Please note: I call Nessaja a female but the Ugobe Pleos don't have a gender. That's an RB thing. ;)
The animations were okay, but not very spectacular and repetetive. She never froze and never encountered any other bugs or technical issues.
The hatching stage was surprisingly long. However, it hat a very fast learning curve and was fully grown in just one (and a half?) battery cycles.
So I didn't get the magical "I can see my cute dino grow up" experience" I love about Pleos.

LifeOS 1.0.2:
LifeOS 1.0.2 was the LifeOS my Pleo came with. It has a few advanced animations and features but they were not really visible with my Pleo. I believe the explore mode has been improoved though.
The SD card updater in the downloads section doesn't work so I couldn't test the hatching/baby stage.

LifeOS 1.1
LifeOS 1.1 is the next big Pleo update. The animations changed drastically and I could hear some new sounds as well.
1.1 is a very calm LifeOS - At least with my Pleo. Nessaja doesn't talk as much as she did using the 1.0 downgrade and seems to be a little shy without being super anxious. She moves her tail a lot slower and loves to look around but she's way to lazy to walk. <3
With 1.1 you can also run the personalities uploaded to the download section.
My Pleo has a way longer learning curve and really seems to learn how to walk. When she was running the 1.0 OS she was able to do everything (including tricks) after the first battery cycle.
The 1.1.1 LifeOS is the same as 1.1 but it doesn't check the software version so you can install 1.1.1 whenever you want.
The tricks are the same with 1.0 and 1.1.
It was mentioned somewhere that Pleos can only sit using 1.1 but that's not the case.
It works with 1.0 and 1.0.2 as well.

LifeOS 2
The controversial LifeOS 2 was made by Innvo and is... completely different. The sounds and the personality changes completely and it takes up to eight battery cycles or more for your Pleo to grow up.
LifeOS 2 never really worked on my Pleo. Nessaja couldn't walk at all after a few battery cycles and was constantly sad, angry or anxious. However, the animations are stunning and the LifeOS includes a lot more tricks to explore.
Please note: The tricks won't work when your Pleo isn't fully grown up yet. None of them! So be patient with your Pleo. ;)

That's my summary of the different LifeOS versions. If you remember something you'd like to add feel free to do that.

Greetings from Germany,

Annalena and Nessaja.

Hey - thanks for joining in and trying to keep  the forum alive ... like our Pleos  ;D

Is yours an RB?  I have bought one recently but stuck on a red-light LED despite having a good battery .... no one on the Fb forums seems to have a solution.  I haven't run my Ugobes for a while ... sadly - they are cute .... I'm waiting for some small capacity sd cards to see if I can get my RB to run a skit - who knows.
Hi there,

you're welcome. ;) It seems like the forum is asleep since it was offline a few weeks ago.
My Pleo is a Ugobe and I don't have any RB experiences to report but I would take a look at the battery compartment to find out if something is corroded or anything and try to measure the battery voltage with a specialised device I don't know the word for... Is it a multimeter?
Anyway, if the problem persists it could be a software thing or something hardware related that has nothing to do with the battery.
