Looks good!  This is the first "toy" robot I've seen that looks like it has real AI potential and has the potential to be a lot of what Ugobe hoped Pleo would be.  Reading their plans reminded me a lot of Ugobe back in the pre-release days of Pleo -- the AI, learning, open SDK for programming, dreams of it being THE robotics learning platform, it being the first of more AI companion type robots to come . . .  And since they already have another commercial product on the market, there's a good chance this product might take off.  I just wish they would post more specifics about the internal hardware specs and capabilities.

mweed Iam so jealous of you right now  I definitely going to buy one  but sadly if you live in Europe a lot off apps are not available yet . And I understand that Cozmo also works with a app. So I am going to wait for the release date October 16th and first want to see If I can download the app . It is the same now with furby connect it is available in the USA but If I want to download it on my IPad it says " is not available yet in your country "  . So please when you get Cozmo write a review and post a video . I also want the force band for bb8 from sphero. Luckily I can order it from their website and they will send it to the Netherlands for me . I am also very enthusiastic about Cozmo . I also wish they released more videos of what it can do !

This is going to be a expensive fall and winter for me ,force band for bb8 , Cozmo and maybe furby connect .

He looks awesome!  I couldn't see anything to suggest that they do international shipping though.  So far it looks like it is only US that they ship to.  I have emailed to ask.  If thye will ship to Australia then I'm going to pre order one

You buy Cosmo from them (or Amazon), they ship him to an American freight company in another state who then ship him to you.
It's because of our laws regarding batteries, the regular American postal services aren't allowed to ship them anymore, so he has to travel via specialist carriers.

Going to add about $120 - $170 to his price tag

The other option is to wait and see how his initial sales go, if sales go well he might be acquired by the big department stores like Pleo was for Christmas. I don't want to risk missing out though.

I hope you don't need the smart phone app running the whole time you play with him, that is similar to how Genibo SD's AI works. The dog on it's own is quite basic, Genibo has software and requires a PC to do the grunt AI work, so to retain the full use of his brains he needs to be within signal range of the computer tower at all times, which restricts him to one room really. This combined with the fact there are no English instructions to tell you this leads many to get frustrated and dismiss him as 'just a toy' and not a 'living creature' like a Pleo or an Aibo.
So my worry is, if Cosmo is completely dependant on smartphone apps for his AI, is he really going to feel like a proper lifeform the way Pleo and Aibo do?



Also, I can see I'm going to have a hard time fitting baby booties onto those track wheels 
Imagine I'll have to lay special flooring for him as he's definitely not going to fare well on 70's shag pile... good for elderly Aido bones tho

Hi, Luna! Nice to see you here again! I think I'll wait until someone preorders Cosmo. I almost bought a BB8 sphero droid but when I found out all his magic had to have an app, I let him go. I almost bought a Gibo back in their preordering days when the robot was five hundred dollars but when none of the developers would answer my question about whether or not I could set him up alone or if I'd have to have sighted help, I let him goo too.

The response I got form them was that no they would not ship to Australia.  I would have to wait to see how things went and if their sales go well then they may look at finding distributors in other countries possibly in 2017.  I was thinking it would make a great Christmas present so was a bit bummed when they said no. 
Who did you contact to sort out the shipping to Australia for you? I would still like to pre order one if I can.  I figured the shipping would be crazy high so not too bothered about that.

Ok I found it on Amazon.  If I order him through them it looks like the shipping will only be about $14.00.  I will have to pay the full price for him though of $179.99 so about $195.00 US all up.  Will have to wait till pay day but I think i'm up for it

Great Kat  Will you please post a revieuw of Cozmo ? That would be very helpful . We just bought a new car this week so I have to wait a few months before I can buy this little robot .... savings are a bit low right now

I have the same concern as Lunamione7, I can't find anything that tells if the AI is in the robot or in the smart phone.  In fact, I can't find anything that talks about what technology is in COSMO at all.  No CPU specs, no memory size, nothing.

None of the videos show the phone and there's nothing that talks about what the phone app does other than the SDK beta.

Cosmo is pretty small to have much built in . . . but technology can sure pack a bunch into a smart watch these days and that's pretty small.  Anki's other product OVERDRIVE requires the phone to run.

I'm glad the shipping was cheap, I am travelling back to the US soon (and at Christmas ) I'm tempted to have one shipped to my boyfriends house :p But argh, those airfares mean little spending money left
