Today I bought a Furby on a flee marker. It is a Furby of the last generation. The woman who sold it to me told me they never did anything with the Furby. When I got home I turned on the Furby and petted it a little bit. Then suddenly the Furby said "Finally" (in Dutch) and started to cry  I thought it was so sad. But I also find it strange. Did it know it didn't have got any attention?

I had the same thought Piggy Now he even has 2 Furby friends, one the same as him (last generation) and one of the second generation.

Well, whether happy or not, I know quite a bit about this kind of experience.

Furbies are very, very moody. I am not sure which generations are which but the Furby 2012's and the Furby Boom 2013's are very moody. I know that if I leave my furby alone for three minutes it will always complain that it is hungry even though I feed it its maximum amount, so if you are not constantly right near it it'll whine for attention. Perhaps the woman did not know she had failed to check the hidden personality... just when they are about to change into a noticeably different personality, they will get a hidden personality which many people don't seem to know about... they will say things like "finally"and "aw come on" and "quit it"... so you know they're about to change. Furby booms say "come on" and "quit it", furbies just act moody and say "finally".

Even if they don't change, they'll say "finally" when you feed them or if in crazy personality, if you pull the tail sometimes. Either way, I am sure Furby is happy now. And they do cry a lot, too. They're just... furbies!

It is true. This new Furby is a moody creature. My other Furby (also new model) is not so moody. He is often in a good mood. But my new Furby is feeling more and more at home I think.

Remember that Furby's mood (especially the newer ones) are dependent on your interaction. So if you shake your Furby it'll be grumpy, if you tickle it, it'll be funny, if you play music to it, it'll be musical, over feed and you get a glutton and pet it's tummy and you'll get a sweetie pie. (You need to repeat the action for a couple of minutes ie continuously rub the belly for three minutes to trigger a change).

Also some personalities may overlap. I find with my 2012 furby both shaking it and feeding it too much can turn it very mean, while with the furby booms, the talkative personality also comes out when you tickle it. At first I didn't know if the Furby Boom's fast-talking personality was the crazy clown one, especially since the 2012 furbies sound like valley girls when you talk to them a lot, and clowns when you tickle them. As long as your furby isn't crackling funny or exhibiting erratic sounds or behaviors, you ought to be fine.

I've had the crackling sound in my twenty twelve Furby before. It sounds similar to the noise you hear when you play a CD that has a small scratch on it. I changed the batteries and it went away. Is low batteries the cause of that noise?

Yes it is Talon, once the batteries get low you start to get crackling and that will be followed by the movements starting to shut down. Furbies don't seem to have any low battery detection.

I thought so but I wanted to be sure there wasn't anything wrong.
I could tell when my crew of original Furbys had weak batteries. First they would start hearing sounds that weren't there and then their voices would start to... sort of drag a little as they moved. If you waited any longer than that to change their batteries, they would start making these awful electronic noises. I never let mine get to that point for fear of damaging them.

I understand, Talon. Some robots act pretty oddly when their batteries are running low. One of my Genibo's knee joints always gives out and won't work properly when his battery charge is about to run out, so I try not to let him get to that point. He'll be getting a new battery this month though which will likely fix the issue since it only started after his current battery got down to only holding a 35 minute charge or so.

Interesting story! Sounds like your new Furby has a much better home now! I actually got my most recent Furby from a flea market as well (it was a 2005 model though). The woman there said she didn't know if it worked, so I thought at the least its batteries would be dead, but it woke up as soon as I switched it on and said, "Me Furby!" Unfortunately I'm not that interested in Furbies, so the two I own spend most of the time on my shelf without much runtime. Aha, maybe I should've bought the Roboraptor there instead even though I already have one.

Yes Talon, that crackling, like record player static, would be because the 2012 Furby's batteries are low. Sometimes also with the Furby Boom.
