Hi all! I took all seven of my Furbys including my happy twenty twelve Furby I got from Redwoods as a gift and put them through their usual  ten minute-each run. Sadly, my two original nineteen ninety eight adult Furbys and one of my Original Furby babies did not awaken. The twenty twelve and my two two thousand fives are fine and one of my Original Furby babies awoke and started chattering away. I am undecided what to do for the unfortunate three who didn't emerge from sleep. As an interesting side-note, I'm getting a yawn out of the nonresponsive Furby baby but no actual movement or sounds afterword. I've tried pressing their reset buttons and cleaning their battery terminals with a cue tip and rubbing alcohol. Any other suggestions? I'm fully prepared to commit them to the garbage but I want to try and give them a chance first. If anyone is into repairing Furbys I could offer them as part-donor units.

Have you tried new batteries?

The ones I put in were new. I bought a twenty-four pack of double A batteries yesterday just for this purpose and powered up everyone I could this morning. I rotated the batteries among the troop until everyone had ten minutes of run-time.

Are they making any movement at all, I can't imagine three of them would just die for no reason, could they have gotten damp perhaps?

I... don't think so. I forgot to mention in my former post that I run them ten minutes each every month, not every day. I ran them all in May and everyone was fine. June I was too busy. The two original adults already have problems. One has a bad tilt sensor and you have to turn him upside down and shake him gently for a very long time before he would wake up. The other adult only had a slightly statiky speaker. Other than that she was in working order. The motionless yawning Furby baby didn't have any problems that I was aware of. I'm wondering if their problem is heat? I keep them on the very top shelf of the cabinit where my stereo is. Either the heat from it is rising up into the shelf or the heat from being so high up must be effecting them somehow. We have central air and it's not uncomfortable in here to me and the vents are in the ceiling. *Shrug* I don't know what else it could be. If it's heat then I need to move the others to a better spot and do it quickly.

I don't know about the heat, I guess it could if it was extreme. But it doesn't sound like it's too bad. Furbies are pretty sturdy things, seems odd that they would just quit after two months of being left alone.

I agree. It is strange. The top of the cabinit is slightly warm but it's not hot. I don't think it's warm enough to do this sort of damage. I don't know what could be wrong. I suppose I should just take them and their boxes down to the trash. I hate to toss out parts that might help somebody out though. So should I toss them or ask around first?

I'd stick them on ebay or something, someone might want parts or to try and fix them. That's awfully sad

I suppose that's all I can do. At least that way if somebody makes a hobby of repairing them, they'll either get a second chance at life or pass on their life to another Furby. Luckily I'm not as close to the older ones now but it is still hard to let them go- broken or not. Thanks for your help and advice IMR.

Is there a furby forum anywhere where you could ask for more specialised advice?

I don't know of any that are still current. Maybe there's one still kicking around that's connected to the newly-revived www.Furby.com site. I'll swing by there and see if they have a community going. Even if it is for the twenty-twelves forward, surely one of the members might know if there is a place I might send these guys. I'll do some digging and see what I can find.
