Hey binbags we have all done that at some time in our lives.  Don't feel too bad.  You weren't to know there was money in the envelope. :)  If you still have the bits you should be able to take it to the bank and explain what happened and they should replace it for you.  I'm sure they see this kind of thing all the time. :)
It can't hurt to call the bank and ask them about it. :)

So cheer up and try to smile. :)  Things can only get better from here. :)
Merry christmas from Australia.
Kat :)

Noooooooooooooooo!!!  :o :o :o :o :o :o :'(

What a terrible thing to happen, at Christmas especially!  I must admit, in your place I'b be there with the sellotape trying to piece it all back together.  I have got banks to replace damaged notes before, which they did as long as the serial number was intact, but not quite as badly damaged as completely shredded!  Is it worth a try, do you think?  Or will it just be adding frustration to the already sour mix?  >:(

Thanks to Kat & Crewella

The worst thing about this was, I did know only a few seconds before, then I was disturbed by what was going through my mind.  :'( To make a phone call and thank the person who had sent it too us.  I was talking on the phone, when I said to my wife,"put that somewhere safe" for now.  What I did not see was, she had slid it back into the envelope. :'(

I came off the phone and handed to my wife so she could say thank you.  What I did next was to pick up both envelopes, fold them and put them into "an already full" shredder.  At that moment a light came on in my head,  Oh Nooooooooooooo I thought,  Oh yes I have. :o :o :o :o :o :o   I looked at my wife and hoped that she had taken the money out, but alas NO!! :o :o

Totaly my fault, but in the panic of the moment, saying to my wife "why did you not take the money out".  So in effect shoving some of the blame onto her  "wrong" :( :( :( :( :( :(

My wife is now not talking to me,  I have to beg forgivness from her, tonight. :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I have just spent 2 hours going through the shredder to find what I can.  I have got a form from the Post Office, so that the bits that I have found can be sent to the Bank of England in Leeds.  There is no guanrantee that they will re-emburse me for the mistake.  I can but try. ;) ;) ;)

i might add that my sredder is a "multiple cut one" just for fun. Just what I need.

 Nooo
   I really  feel for you.

I’m sure the bank have seen this kind of thing before.    it might take a bit of digging around in the shredder  but as long as   the serial   numbers are intact  you should get your money back or some of it in any case.
Here’s hoping it wasn’t a cross  shredder.

Oh great - multiple cut to boot!  >:( >:( %)

This is probably not the best time to tease you about being a fan of taking things apart and putting them back together then ............... ;) ;) ;D

If it makes you feel any better, this reminds me of the highly collectable crisp old white £5 note that my OH found and stashed between the pages of a book to keep it in good condition.  The book I then gave to Oxfam.....................  :-[ :-[   :P

Hey Bin,

I'm sure your wife will forgive you... I'm guessing you have been married for a bit, and of course she loves you so.. smile.. it's Christmas that can melt a Grinchy heart!!! A few years back I accidently threw away my income tax return check, which was going to pay for our DisneyWorld trip.. the check was around $2000.00  . It took the goverment almost 7 mos to issue me a new check and we missed our vacation that year.....:( BUT... it's just another day in the life, and I'm sure by tomorrow all will be forgiven... sometimes flowers in the mouth of a pleo helps!

Cheers!

Hi All

Just logged on again.  Thank you for your support and words.  I have just got back from the shops, with a great big bunch of Flowers, and low and behold, you have come to the same conclusion.  It cannot make things worse, only better, I hope. :) :) :) :) :)

Yes, Crewella, theres me talking about taking thing appart and re-assembling them.   Nice job I have made for myself. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Anyway my wishes for Xmas and New Year go out too you all, where ever you may be.  Have a good time and take care.  Too all those in the UK Euro lotto, good luck. ;) ;)

Well my wife has just telephoned me, she has bent my ear, I have said that I am so sorry for loosing it.  I have not told her about the flowers, she will see them when she gets home at 21.30 tonight.  She is doing her on-call as a NHS Nuclear Radiographer.

Hi Crewella
Yes, I feel tons better.  From speaking to my wife, her voice was a lot softer towards me.  I am sure she will love the flowers, tell me what female does'nt.
I think right now I am going round the corner to some neighbors and I will have a large malt whisky. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Hope you enjoy the morning with your husband and family, and all your prezi's. :-*  I will have to wait until the afternoon to open mine with my wife, as she is on call again from 6.00 to 15.00.

I am cooking the dinner anyway "Goose" so that will keep me busy, because I ain't going anywhere. :) :) :) :) :)
