Idea for future robotic pets(infinite battery)
« on: October 23, 2009, 04:13:20 AM »

Infinite battery life, thats what we all want.

Here's a good idea for that:

a charging station that has 2 batteries. one in the lifeform, one in the charging station. once the lifeform automaticly docks with the charging station, the station switches batteries so the lifeform can return to its doings after 30 seconds or so. The batterie taken out will be charged, to be switched when the lifeform is almost out of battery again.

Maby we should bring this to the developers of Invvo labs?

Buy three batteries and you can just swap them around yourself ;) Only takes 5 seconds by human hand ;)

Yes, but that kills the illusion and doesn't allow the life form to carry on it's own. Once the battery is dead, the life form is dead.
This is what I like about my Aibo. He can go forever as long as he keeps finding his station. He remains on during the charging and gets off his station again once full, and the cycle repeats.
(Although I have hem setup he is not allowed to leave the station when he's done charging.)

I'll settle for play time vs charge time, my room seems very quite when I'm charging the batteries and Pleo lays there on the floor asleep. Thought the idea that the pet recharges its self is very appealing. Imagine when Pleo gets tried cause of the batteries it makes it way to a recharge nest and takes a little nap before another adventure.

What a bout a transformer?  Then the transformer could sound out a signal to keep the battery going all the time right?  Transformer wouldn't have to be large would it.  Just a tiny tower?  I dunno lol.
