Hi,

Fixing batteries is not as hard as it seems.
My Ugobe Pleo had a dead battery and I could only find a couple overpriced batteries on ebay.
So I decided to fix the dead battery I had.
I had to buy 6, 1.2v AA Ni-mh batteries with tabs.
Once you open up the battery pack,
just connect everything the same way as it was with the original batteries but use the new cells.
You have to use a thermistor, but you can use the one already in the battery pack.
You don't need instructions to connect everything, just look at the original battery connections as a guide.
But if instructions make you feel better you can find some on the internet.
And you don't even need to solder, you can just put the right tabs on top of each other and wrap tape around to hold it together,
but soldering would be better.
note - the batteries I mentioned are for Ugobe Pleo and not Pleo rb so you need to research about the voltage and other details,
but the tabs are really helpful.
When it comes to buying batteries, I have
looked in a lot of places and it is hard to find someone who can fix or
sell batteries. I have fixed a couple batteries not too long ago
but currently I am not ready to go through the process.

Hi,

thank you for clarifying :) ;)
I am going to have to buy a SD card.
I guess all of mine are too big and modern. :(

Hello, I have one Ugobe and one RB who will no longer turn on. I am wanting to buy new chargers and batteries in case that will help, but I can’t find batteries anywhere online! Does anybody on this forum know of a place where I could purchase batteries? I am too nervous to make my own, but will gladly pay for somebody else to make a battery pack. If anybody has any ideas please let me know either on this forum or email me mylittlegreenfriendkiwi@gmail.com

Hi - no the Pleo only reads quite small cards. I have several ... they all read 1Gb cards OK ..... some... only some 2Gb cards are read ok ... and I have had occasional success with a 4Gb card. The bottom line stay safe and sure with a 1 or 2Gb card. I've never tried using adaptors but then you'll struggle to find small enough micro sd cards anyway. eBay is your friend ..... like this .... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395259103778?itmmeta=01HT89KFCB1CGVD9519E4DJGZ7&hash=item5c07474a22:g:DWcAAOSw9Ellypq3&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4BTeZP%2B7i1cezILVIfc%2FNyw71Z%2BRnIlbXUD67qqU%2F1D%2BxIltcWGfQtr%2Be%2BhIz3ntBemFP4vMKRS7eAQre1TD0W3FuuCeOv3qGoOAiNLQ9azyspkwX6EwCR9QinYgyW3K6IJtYj9aBb6O7htxGFKIpWia6IiCGTxS7q50MKEeh%2FyF1T%2BzUaaj71lMgwaJMW2Pj0ov0nBK88s8YJ67w4gsNEmexWjAkiYN3Ax%2Bt6C9hdp8Kc13pJ992wUqfpcPzzYQ1Yfsj85Y%2FB7kI7A80wCPDY3AlM1jX2%2FvEtItHrZ5dffd%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6T2zYnSYw .....

Hi,

So I got a used Ugobe Pleo not too long ago,
I changed the cells and it works!
But I want to reset to baby stage so I could restart its life and experience the all the stages
and updates from the beginning.
But the sd cards I have are 1, a Kingston 8 GB HC class 4 micro sd card with an sd adapter and 2, a ten year old sd card with 16 GB HC class 10.
I am not sure if any of these two will work with pleo.
If you know anything please reply!

Hello,

I have seen lots of videos of people fixing broken cables, and if
my Pleo had a broken cable I just wouldn't be able to
bring myself to open up the skin and fix it.
But is is still interesting to watch peoples progress and success!
By the way I have a Ugobe Pleo and not an RB. I am still
looking around ebay, trying to find an RB. The company doesn't have them in stock.
Well indeed this Forum is a little dead. >:(
But not completely, thank you for posting and not letting this forum die.

Sorry if i posted this twice, at first it showed an error message.
Greetings! I know, this forum is pretty much dead, but i thought i'd share this anyways.

I only found out about pleos the very end of last year, and not much later i bought an RB myself that i named Kiwi.
Within a month of use, cables started to break, both in the neck and tail. :( With not much information about repairs online and a broken pleo, i wasn't exactly sure what i was getting myself into, but i decided to repair it.

There's gonna be a lot of images of Kiwi's insides, so take a look.  P:o

Skin removed. Two vertebrae were broken, one in the tail and one in the neck.
I fixed those by melting them back together using a soldering iron, melting a steel cable around the middle into the plastic and covering it in epoxy adhesive. This is much stronger than printing new ones.

The insides of the front with the entire neck and head removed. They really filled these to the brim with electronics, there's not much space to work with unless removing parts from the body.

As you can see, that cable has snapped and needs to be replaced.

Kiwi's head

Next up is the tail. the back was a little more confusing to open. There were a couple of screws well hidden under the touch sensor. Other than that it's much easier to rethread than the front.

Up/down gearbox with replaced steel cable.

The skin is very stretchy, so it was still possible to take it off and get it back on. There's only some minor damage. Glued the skin back on at the battery bay and neck.

There's only a small tear at the battery bay, but other than that it looks about the same.

here are the results after a couple of weeks of messing around with kiwi.  P:)

As of right now the up/down tail cable has snapped, and i'll still have to figure out why exactly that is.
Bought new steel cables, but it'll take a month before it arrives. So i won't be working on it for some time.

It took me way too long to make this post, i'm not used to ancient websites.

I was wondering if it were possible to name the original pleo and have pleo respond to being called by the name.
And I was also wondering about what the ID card does. Is it the same as with pleo rb?
I couldn't find much information about the original pleo ID card and giving names that pleo could respond to.

Thank you so much!
