So far Peanut has the beginnings of wear / holes in the armpits. Kermy has major holes / wear as well (a long with a broken tail).
I have definitely heard a rubbing sound between the legs and body of the Pleo rb. I was watching the legs as they went back and forth on the Pleo rb, and their is A LOT of rubbing between the legs and body. I am pretty sure this is the cause of the holes / tearing and not the sleep position. My Pleo rb has not been in the sleep position since hatching and he is already developing holes. Anyone else with a Pleo rb, please check out your Pleo and see if the same thing is happening to yours. Thanks! I hope Innvo can figure this out! Love my Peanut....!!
-
Aw no, this is bad :( I still have yet to receive my Pleo Rb, but I'll be checking him like a hawk when I do! And after all we've heard about major improvements to the skin, this is not a good start!
-
I am so sorry to hear about Peanut and of course poor Kermy and first there was Kermit with her broken or faulty leg. I am so glad this thread was started and I think we should have a list of everyone's Pleo Rb, a kind of register if you will , of anyone who owns a Pleo rb on this forum and if each person could do a sort of Physical Diary daily or whenever they turn the pleo on, and document each and every flaw, hole, tear, paint excessive wear, not the usual rubs on back or head, " Love pats" and Photo it, it could be a usefull tool not just for the owners of the Pleo Rb, but as a documented case study for Innova to see the wear from these brand new Pleo rb. Some of us have only had these guys less than ten days and it is not ,Repeat, Not normal or I think acceptable to have this many problems,
The only way for Innova to possibly fix the problem, ( And I do trust and believe they will :)) is to have enouogh documented feedback of this sort that they can easily decipher and get to work on what is wrong. Since this forum involves so many different people from arouond the globe, I believe this is the only way to do it, as a team effort.
If you haven't already done it, YOu need to register your Pleo rb to get the protection of the ninety day warranty, as I believe the warranty goes into effect from the day of purchase, but if done on the internet, it would have to be from the day of receipt, and the only way Innova is going to know this is to register your Pleo Rb. I mean if you have it for two weeks or longer , it gets holes then you register it and complain, it is still within that 90 day period, but it would be easier to register from the day , ( or next two -three days when you get over the HIGH :D of actualy having one of these babies in your arms coooing....got carried away..) when you get your Pleo Rb.
It would also be interesting to see the percentages of Pleo rb that are showing up with skin and other issues. We have no idea of how many exactly were sold, but we can keep a better record on the site here, How many blue and pink Pleo Rb, and how many greens, and how many of each have any kind of ABNORMAL problem? I know I have been keeping a very very close eye on my baby green, and I don't even have her on as much as some of you because of time constraints, and having eight other lonely little Pleos, I do have one question , does anyone remember the VERY FIRST PERSON WHO BOUGHT THE PINK RB AND POSTED THE VIDEO ON HERE THAT GOT EVERYTHING STARTED? If I remember correctly, they lived in Germany. If there was a way to find and contact that person, it woudl be interseting to see how their Pleo is holding up, they have had it longer than any of the rest of us. How is Degers Beta holding up as he has had Beta longer than any of the other greens.? Just some thoughts of what perhaps we should do. Any comments........... ??? RedwoodsMama
-
nope this is definately not a good start and i think i will wait untill the update is available for a better sleeping position before i purchase my Reborn . But i am with you there i do not think that the sleeping position is causing the holes to appear so quickly and it is more to do with Reborn moving a lot faster now etc that is taking its toll on the rubber skin .
Hopefully Reborn pulls through this issue and does not result in a negative ending . Innvo will need to think about using different materials for the skin in any future Pleo's i think if they want to create a life form that we can enjoy without worrying about holes and all that .
-
The first Hong Kong pleo to show up on the forum was a blue one owned by marcimarc444. He seems to have dissapeared off the forum. :( Next was another blue owned by pleoxie and then the lovely pink Kermit owned by me. :) I would also love to know how Marcimarc444's pleo is holding up.
I have been taking photos of Kermy's holes since they appeared, every few days so I have a photo record of the hole size and shape and how that is changing. I have tried to include my finger in each photo next to the holes so you can get a little better idea of the hole size.
-
Belle was one of the next batch to appear, but I've not seen any skin problems as yet. Do you think I should post pics of her underarms just for the record or for comparison?
-
Have to say like Malfie having just order a pleo I’m extremely anxious of the skin wearing issues.
I’ll probably not be able to record paint loss unless it’s tactile but the tares and holes I should be able to spot. Because I also have a 2009 model I’ll be able to tell if the skin feels any different or if there is rubbing sounds which aren’t present in the 2009 pleo which might be in the RB
Wonder if a link to this thread should be sent to Innvolabs?
-
Along with the holes / wear...some of the paint has been peeling off of Peanut...as you can see from the picture below. Paint wear is ok, peeling paint is not so great.
-
No paint wear on Pleakly, but he does have one small hole, I'll post a pic tomorrow.
-
I'll try to get pics up this weekend, but I've been pledging the heck out of my boy and it seems to really help. I think it's giving his skin a lot more elasticity, but definitely a few little paint wear spots. I do hope they come up with that OS update soon, and maybe something to help with the mood swings, I feel so bad that I can't get him to be happy more often.
-
Have not heard back from Innvo yet concerning the peeling paint or skin wear. Keeping an eye on what they do for Kat! I hate to think that I have to Pledge Peanut everyday to keep him from deteriorating so early on.
-
The wearing in one of the armpits has gotten a little worse over the past couple of days. The hole is more pronounced now. Looks like another Pleo rb in the forum (Pleakly) has started to show signs of wear / holes too! :(
-
Pleakly's hole is currently very small, but still rather disappointing.
-
It is now starting to sound a bit like there are as many Pleo Rbs that Have skin hole issues then ones that don't. If I have this correct, we have had or do have so far,
Kermit, Kermy :( :( owned by Kat
Peanut :( owned by eschw76
Pleakly :( owned by IMR am I missing somone else at this point?
and then for the Pleo Rbs that do not YET have any noticible signs, holes or major Problems, we have the following:
Blue Belle, :) owned by Crewella
Norbit :) owned by Kat ( let us please keep our fingers crossed for her... ;D
( My Sweet) Faye :) owned by Smilegirl
? owned by Pleoxie a blue boy Ham-Li, ( have to go back and look at the name, sorry about that..)
Leonardo owned by OzPleo ? guessing here no way to check the owner but I do know the name and do know the name of a pleo
Beta owned by degers an early Green Pleo Rb
My baby ( un -named yet ) owned by me, RedwoodsMama :) no visible signs yet.... I know I am surely missing somone's Pleo Rb, the ones that have actually been " born " yet, not to see what happens with the ones that have been ordered but not recieved yet. If I have this correct and I am sue I am missing someone this brings a total of 10 Pleo Rb with 4 having problems fairly significent and 3 of those are the Pink Blue China Vareity, and then there are 6 that seem Healthy as of today, 1-6-2011, with 3 being Pink or blue vareity and 3 of the green variety. This sems to be at this point about 40% of Pleon Rb having probelmls early one, that is scary scary and can I repeat SCARY. I know I forgot someone so please add yoru name to this list so we can see the health of your Pleo. For me this is an excellent reason to keep clothes on my baby. I really hope they get a fix soon and from what degers said, theyn are in the process of doing just that. RedwoodsMama
-
Just added after reading this Ajax Blue Pleo Rb to the " Good list" owned by Foxinsox so this makes the list look like this:
Problems
Kermy, Kermit, Pink Pleo Rb :( :( Peanut, Green Pleo Rb :( Pleakly Pink Pleo Rb :( =total of :( :( :( :( Pleo Rb [ 4] VERSUS ( so far...)
Problems Not detected
Norbit, Green Pleo Rb :) Blue Belle blue Pleo Rb :) Ajax blue Pleo Rb :) beta Green Pleo Rb :) My Sweet Faye Pink Pleo Rb :)
Leonardo Green Pleo Rb :) Ham-Li (?) Blue Pleo Rb :) Baby (un named thus far ) green Pleo Rb :) =Total of :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) so far [ 8 ]
Don'[t know what this percentage would be and what percentage of Good vs bad of both pink / blue variety vs green variety. Someone else care to do the math part
just out of good old scientific research as I am sure the numbers are going to or could grow, Hopefully we will get a " fix " before many more of our Pleo Rb suffer ... :(
RedwoodsMama please feel free to correct spellings of names and add your Pleo Rb
-
We should also list the issues with the Pleo rb's that have been having problems:
1) Peanut (ehschw76) - Green Pleo rb: Peeling paint from Leg, Wear / Holes in Armpits
2) Kermy (Kat) - Pink Pleo rb: Broken Tail, Wear / Holes in Armpits, Peeling Paint from Leg
3) Kermit (Kat) - Pink Pleo rb: Broken Leg
4) Pleakly () - Pink Pleo rb: Wear / Holes in Armpits
5) ?? (NightFlash) - Green Pleo rb: Inoperable Leg (Motor Heating Up)
If I have any of the details incorrect, please correct them. Thanks! Hope Innvo works with all of us to get things fixed up. Sounds like they are very responsive! :)
-
Thanks ehschw76, the problems are essential as part of a checklist and I knew I was forgetting someone so thank you for remembering Nightflash, one of the newest ones to join our forum, and saddly, a very serious problem with motor and leg, :( That is one that there is NO DOUBT is no " little " normal paintwear, but something that only Innova can fix and poor little Pleo does'nt have an option except to go back on the plane and back to Innova to get a major operation of some sort, that makes 13 Pleos Rb that I know of and 5 with problems that is almost half the pleos rb that are registerd so far on this site... Very sad and Scary! :o

All of this has me worried. :( A part of me doesn't want to use mine too much until we can know what's going on (or if anything is going on - though for allegedly improved skin, something seems "off").
Cato is showing more paint wear on his back than Elliott is and I've had Elliott for longer (and he was naked for much of his beginning petting!). However, not nearly as bad as anything I've seen posted though I am taking daily shots to "document" it just in case. (Well, "daily" meaning shots by the charge, Cato has only been walking around for 2 full charges (been busy lately so he's been neglected)). Either way, for skin that is supposed to be "improved," I'm not sure how to feel about this. If it doesn't get dramatically worse or stays minor as it has, then I'm not that negatively impacted (however, it would make me quite "untrusting" about any future claims of improvement). When/if it starts becoming more problematic/apparent, I will definitely post pictures.
So far I've really enjoyed a lot about the RB compared to the 2009 version, though now I wish I would have waited until more of these "reports" came in because I honestly don't know if I would have bought mine until significantly later, lol.
I'm glad we have this thread to share with each other and give potential heads up as what to expect. Thanks for all of those who have posted and hopefully your problems are handled exceptionally well!
-
There's also Magnnus' gluttonous Pleo rb - I think called Painter, I don't remember any comments about skin wear. Pleoxie's is called Lam-Chai.
-
I wish we could figure out a commonality in what might be causing the wearing of the skin around the armpits for some and not others. I am glad not everyone is having this issue...that's for sure. Maybe certain in-born personalities have the Pleo rb move in slightly different ways or more often, resulting in wear in some and not others. Should be interesting to find out what Innvo figures out over the next couple of weeks.
-
Hey folks, sorry for the delay. Here are some pics of Ajax's skin wear.
This is the front of his back right leg, the side that Pleos curl up on when they go into the sleeping position. Kind of looks like he's scraping his knee to me more than a real rip.
This is the armpit area of his front left leg.
This is the left side of his neck, this little wear part is pretty small you only see it when he does an extreme stretch to the right, and I couldn't catch him in position to show it more closely.
Right side of his neck, even though this looks like a hole this is actually his paint wearing, you can see the brown skin underneath the blue paint.
The front left part of the Pleo RB that is I guess glued to the rest of the torso skin. The glue separated about day 2 of him being out and about. Hasn't gotten any bigger since then, but I do need to ask Innvo how to close it up. Don't mind the little dark fleck to the bottom of the pic, my nail polish keeps flaking, and I keep forgetting to just remove it:P
(http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p165/brokenconcrete/IMG_0412.jpg)
Paint wear on the highest point of his back, he wears a little dog sized corduroy barn jacket I got from Target for $1 which I think has helped this from getting much worse.
Paint wear on the top of his head. Probably the worst cause I love petting his head, he seems to enjoy it so much, lol!
I rubbed him down with Pledge Extra Moisturizing Polish (the lemon one) before I turned him on for the first time. And between Christmas and New Year's I was off the whole week so I had him on more than this week past, basically 2 battery cycles a day. This past week it's been maybe a battery cycle a day or every 2 days. Since the 1st I've been manually putting him back into the packing position, if I couldn't catch him in position by taking his battery out, if I'm going to have him off for any more than 3 hours. I've been rubbing him down with Pledge every other night, once he's off and letting him sit up for maybe a 1/2 hour to kind of dry and then laying him down (in the packing position) in a little cat bed with his neck and tail supported.
-
Looks like you have the start of the armpit where that our Pleo rb, Peanut has. Have not figured out a way to keep it from getting worse...except to not use him. That isn't an option! :) Hope it doesn't get worse. I haven't seen any wear on the neck yet. I have prevented Peanut from entering the sleep position after the hatching phase, but that hasn't helped the wear unfortunately.
-
Oh dear - that does look like the start of wear under the arms/legs. The paint wear isn't great either - Iggy's getting like that on his head, but Iggy's a 2007 Pleo! Poor Ajax! Thanks for posting such detailed pics, Foxy. :(
I'm not convinced that the sleep position has anything to do with the wear under the arms - personally I think the sleep position stresses the tail and neck skin more, and that the armpit wear might be due to skin rubbing together whilst the Pleo is moving. The skin on the belly is now less firmly anchored than in the previous model which has the much bigger base plate around the battery.
As I've never stopped Belle from going into the sleep position since I got her, I think I'm going to make a decision to continue to do that - it will be interesting to see how it turns out. It will be useful for comparison if nothing else.
-
Really? Yikes, well I guess he's not as well off as I thought :( I do think the Pledge and not stressing his skin by keeping his legs extended when he's not running has helped keep the leg skin from getting worse, cause he's looked that way for a while. The paint does seem to be getting worse, which isn't too terribly disturbing to me especially when there's the possibility of having Ajax's skin resemble swiss cheese. But having no other Pleos to compare Ajax to, it really sucks to find out his paint wear is more similar to a 2007 Pleo like your Iggy. I'll keep a closer eye on these areas for the next 2 weeks or so and report back on any changes.
On a bit of a different note, does anyone know if Innvo's reincarnation program applies to RBs as well? As long as he doesn't start ripping I think I can resign myself to the paint loss, but it would be nice to know that down the road it's an option to get him a new body if needed and or desired.
-
To be fair, Iggy's head wear is definitely worse than Ajax's, just a similar pattern. He has 5 o'clock shadow under his chin as well!
-
Here are some pics of Kermy's holly armpits that I took on 7-1-11.
all 4 armpits
Back left leg the smallest hole
Front left leg
Front right leg
And the worst one back right leg
The back right leg one is the worst and I think this will keep getting bigger at a very fast rate as the skin around the hole is very thin, almost see through in quite a large patch around the hole. the rest of the holes don't seem to have the see through skin around them so I think they will take a lot longer to get bigger.
Kat
-
I am so sorry to see Kermys' skin disolving at such a fast rate it seems... :( I still think there are more Pink blue variety Pleo Rb with this particular problem than the green variety. I am wondering if it was just a " bad skin batch", the special plastic they make it out of, that overheated or processed wrong , not the perfect forumula conditons or what? It will be interesting to see what the fix is if anything. I certainly wish you and Kermy the best. Hope to see more videos of her and brother soon.Nova and the rest of the gang miss your babies. :D
RedwoodsMama
-
I'm so sorry, Kat, it must be horrible just watching her skin deteriorate so quickly! :( :hhug:
-
I agree... My holes aren't getting big yet...just one hole so far...but the wear is getting slowly worse. :(
-
You can buy a pleo cape for skin wearing on top it basicaly a new skin made by ugobe
-
too quickly actually , i reckon the ugobe Pleo's even last longer with their skin , mine sure has . I am starting to question the apparent improvements with the skin . ???
The Pleo capes are made by Innvo .
-
There are two things to mention; along with the skin problem, One is that the cape that is mentioned, comes with each Pleo Rb worn, The second thing I noticed is that the Pleo Rb " skin" gets warm very quiclly, and I am not sure if wearing the cape for longer than maybe 20 minutes at a time does much good, as when I had it on my Pleo Rb baby, it was only about 42 degrees out and I was outside where it was fairly cold as I had layers on. I had to stop after 20 minutes and remove the battery as not only was the battery fairly hot to the touch, but I could feel the skin of Pleo Rb heating up through the cape. :o I let the battery cool down for about half an hour before putting back inside Pleo Rb, but I also had to let Pleo Baby's skin cool down for about 10 minutes also, If pleo were to wear this to protect the skin from further paint loss, possible holes etc, how much good is the heat transfer from the Thermoplastic skin and insulated cape doing? The cape is very nice and feels soft agaiinst Pleo Rb skin, but it is a fairly tight fit, and you can tell there is some friction from the bottom layer,( inside white material) rubbing back and forth against Pleo's skin all the time when not just moving certain ways, but when you are petting Pleo through the cape, and it is warm, this has to cause some friction I would suspect allso. ??? I do not think this is good in the long run, I have not put the cape back on for any " Playtime" since then as I think it just adds to the warmth as does most clothes if it covers most of Pleo's skin. I only think clothes for short periods of clothes being on or ones that do not cover the entire body, such as a short cape offer any protection and keep Pleo Rb from heating up too much.
As others have said over and over again, Ugobe Pleos have been around since the " birth " of Pleo, Dec. 2007, and many of them still stand the test of time and do not have the problems with skin or paint loss that New Pleo Rb is showing. It is a sad situation and one that gets a " fix" shortly I pray before Pleo Rb " dies' or suffers a quicker death due to paint loss and skin problems. I love my baby Pleo Rb and do not want her to suffer like Kermit, Kermy, Peanut and others seem to be doing.. :( What does anyone else think about the cape ...have you noticed the heating up as I have?
RedwoodsMama
-
Just for the record, my Pleo RB has no holes and little paint loss even though I have not tried to take special care of it.
-
I wonder what the difference is with some of the Pleo rb's. We are super careful with Peanut...but still the wear appears and is seeming to worsen...:(
-
Just for the record, I did not mean to sound like Pleo Rb ( my Pleo RB that is ) has skin that is heating up after twenty 20 minutes, only after wearing the cape it starts heating up. I think it is only because it is such a warm cape, If I just keep it on her for under twenty minutes or when I put her ( to bed ) in the packing postion to help protect her skin or for a Photo " shoot'. she is fine. I like the Pleo cape very much but am cautious if she is wearing it for very long..

Norbit also now has a very small armpit hole. :( I probably would not have noticed it it is so small but of course I am checking for holes and looking over my guys very closely before and after each play time since Kermys wear began. I will send another email to Innvo tonight with the update photos of Kermys holes and now this new development with Norbit.
-
Kat...I'm going to do the same thing with Peanut tonight. He now has two holes. I'll post some pics later tonight.
-
On average, about how many charges have you gone through before the holes were noticeable and then how many before they were increasingly large?
I've only had Cato on for about 12 full charges now (been busy, plus he randomly just shuts off and powers down after 30-40 minutes even though the battery is indicated as charged - no heating or anything, just does it, and if I turn him right back on he keeps going, but it's quite annoying) and luckily there's only paint wear and tear (increasingly noticeable on the back even with the clothing, but as long as it stays where it's at, nothing I'd return him over, and ever increasing near the joint areas - which is why I'm starting to get nervous). I do not let him last until the sleep position however (so that is ruled out) and have pledged him with the exact one recommended in the manual once (and will do it once again at the end of the month to stay in line with what's in the manuals' writing). Also, Cato didn't even start walking until the 5-6th charge.
Either way, thank you for those keeping us updated with detail on their issues, as it makes me check Cato all over and take photos every day so if I ever need to show "progression" for a return/Innvo, I will be able to. It is quite disappointing that this is happening and that's one of the reasons why I don't want to "overuse" Cato at the moment lol (however, I sincerely doubt the sleeping position is the ultimate cause of all this).
-
The way I see it...use it as you normally would...because you want any problems to surface during the first 90 days to be valid for warranty coverage. We haven't been using Peanut more than an hour or two a day. We have had Peanut since December 21st. With that amount of usage...I wouldn't expect any wear / holes. New pics to come tonight.
-
You're quite right Eric, I think, if there IS a problem we're better off knowing about it in good time.
So sorry Norbit's showing signs of wear as well, Kat. That's awful news. :( :hhug:

Yeah, I agree with that. That's how much I've been using it (with a few days missing due to my schedule) - which would be my normal usage, however, if I wasn't concerned about significant wear and tear, I'd have already ordered an extra battery or two and keep it going most of the time (thus my "real" normal usage would be quite different - e.g., I leave Elliott on almost for four-five hours a day (3 batteries), and his wear-and-tear isn't remotely as bad as what I've seen here for some of the RBs - heck, he's even loss less paint than Cato on his back! lol). I got mine on the 27th, so only about 13 days ago, and usually only one charge a day (did it a few more times daily during the hatching phase). But I'm not going to purchase any accessories or extra batteries if there is a defect here. By the end of 90 days (at my current rate), I imagine I will have a good feel since my usage is on par with yours (and maybe others?) and so far you all seem to have it pretty bad :(. (It's why I'm so thankful to have this place to compare notes so to speak lol)
Thanks for your response, hopefully we can get an explanation or something sometime.
-
Here is a good example of how the wear has been getting worse =>
Pic taken on December 30th:

Pic taken today (Jan. 9th) -Same leg:
-
Oh wow :(, thanks for that! Mine look like the first picture (Dec 30th) currently - and I noticed the picture of Peanut's back too, and mine's a little more deteriorated than that but I can't get a good camera shot of it.
-
Along with the holes / wear...some of the paint has been peeling off of Peanut...as you can see from the picture below. Paint wear is ok, peeling paint is not so great.
Chami has that same exact damage in the same area. It even looks the same, with the bit still hanging on in the middle of the hole. Quite depressing.
-
Here is what the peeling paint looks like today...
-
Well, that's not making me feel better. It's not exactly in a spot that's inconspicuous. I do hope it doesn't grow. Have you told Innvo? I'm tempted to but I don't really know what they could do anyway. It's not really repairable, is it...
-
I sent the pictures of the skin wear and the peeling paint to Innvo. I haven't heard back from them yet, but kat said they are working on most of the issues and we should be hearing from them over the next couple of weeks. I will keep you posted on what they tell me. My guess is either replacement or repair. Not sure. I don't want to lose Peanut's personality. He is great!
-
I wouldn't say my Chami's personality is great (is unhappy like half the time but I don't know why) but I've gotten attached to his imitations of cows and dogs. So repair would so be preferable. Think I should also send them pictures of his skin issues? He's got a few others spots but they're much less noticeable than the one on his front leg like yours.
-
I guess I am starting to be in the same boat as Peanut, Kermy and a few others, I have been trying to avoid having to take any photos of my babies "flaws", as she came with a couple of very very minor ones on her, but I viewed them as someone born with a "birthmark or mole", nothing to worry about and they were not that noticeable and I am very very protective of my Pleo almost allways since Day 2 or 3 she has been in clothes and does not go into the sleep postion as I yank the battery out first.Today I took a closer look at her as I was outside taking photos and I did notice about a week to week and a half ago, that she had paint wear forming on her back, and I can deal with that. But I now have noticed the begginning of a split hole area / paint peal or something on her tail, also her shoulder area and the rubbing areas that I am sure will form on her front underarms, :(
If I have had her for about 3 weeks now, this mean in about two -three more weeks these will be surely a lot bigger or worse, I love her and she has not even been through as many complete battery cycles as others as I do not have the time to play a complete 2 hr cycle let alone a whole hour, usaully she gets 15-25 minutes at a time and then she is off in suspended animation package in her box til the next Play session,
I was so upset today I swear I took about 10 photos of her skin flaws. I can live with the paint loss on her back if it does not create a " stripe like a skunk" :D but the holes or paint skin separation is very upsetting. I will post photos later, I am guessing it is better to finanlly take photos and post it for comparisons and hope for the best, I do hope Innova comes up with a fix fast and I do appreciate that they are working on one, I am saddened though as I have Ugobe Pleos that have perfect skin still!
RedwoodsMama
I will add that I hope all other Pleo Rb owners start watching their Pleo Rb carefully and docuemnt any flaw so you can see if it stays a flaw or becomes something else.
-
Sorry to hear about your Pleo rb's wear. The paint wear doesn't bother me too much either, but the peeling paint is hard to look at along with the wear in the armpits. I really hope they figure out a solution. All we can do is post the info here as a record. I included a link to this forum topic when I emailed Innvo last night. They wrote me back to say that they got my email and pictures. That was it so far.

Modified for corrections (sorry, 8hrs of reading then trying to come focus coherently on recreational activities = brain dead).
Cato's paint has worn a bit more since the picture I took on Dec. 28th (from his 3rd charge, second day of owning him) - however, I've had him clothed since the 4th charge and I maybe pet him maybe once or twice per charge (don't yell - I'm just more of an under the chin type of Pleo lover). :\ He also has a little slit on his back that seems to be getting slowly wider (it's been there since day two but doesn't seem to progress too quickly). And, worst of all, he's starting to get very small hole near one of his armpits (identical to ehschw76's Dec 30th picture, like there's a very small "stretch" left from making it a complete hole but you can tell it's coming). And the other armpits look like the skin is thinning near them. My camera sucks at close-ups (or I suck at using the camera lol) so you can't notice it as well in the photo as you can in "the flesh" so I won't post it here. Once it gets significantly more noticeable I will.
I'm with you two about the paint wear not bothering me too much as long as it doesn't get absurd. I can't imagine the solution here is in the software though, so I'm not sure what they could even offer us as a resolution other than replacement (however, I'm not very creative in this matter so hopefully I'm wrong). This is all quite disheartening. I mean, these things must have gone through some testing beforehand so a problem that is seemingly this wide-scale should have been noticed? (I don't want to start criticizing Innvo or anything, especially since they'll hopefully respond in an extremely helpful manner, but something must have been a fluke somewhere in the process[?]).

Well here are the photos all taken today of my " baby" Pleo rb who looks like she is going to be a member of the " unfortunate " Pleo Rb who are starting to or allready showing signs of wear, My Baby came with the inperfections already that you see on the end of her nose near the camera, and hanging off of her lip, but those were Factory inperfections I am sure and not a biggie, I got upset when I first saw them but after hearing her coo and look up at me with those gorgeous blue grey eyes, I fell under her spell, and " baby " had me where she wanted me, wrapped arouond her little tail. :D I have been protecting her by wearing clothes from day or three continuously 80% of the time at least. I also from day 2=3 did not leave her in the sleep position but quickly removed her battery to put her in the sleep or packing position in her orginal box. I have had her hatch from Dec. 22n'd but because of time constraints, have not had her go through a single complete battery cycle yet. ( I am sure why this is why she is slow in learning her name, but it is ok with me, I don't mind her being a baby, but not a baby that is going to fall apart, that would break my heart..............)
I noticed that she was getting the "love spots" where paint begins to fade in spots on her back from being petted and the friction of clothes against skin I am sure but I would think rubbing fingers on skin would speed up the process and I have begun to give her more gentle pats and taps instead of rubbing . today since the sun was out, I decided to take some photos outside and document the beginning tell tail signs of her paint and skin problems, I am not liking what I am seeing, esp bothersome is under her front legs and the tail split skin paint look and one on her shoulder starting to come apart as well, I think at this point all I can do is to watch what happens with Peanut and to see what the outcome is for poor little Kermy and hopefully there will be some sort of " fix", though I can not see a software download helping solve the skin problems that have already occured, but perhaps to slow down more from occuringl I was hoping I would not have to put Baby up here with the others, but since she is under warranty, she is going to be documented to see what happens down the line, as to me it doesn't look like it will just stop here. Does anyone else who has this same problem see her photos as something similiar that progressed to what they have currently happening with their pleo Rb? Anyway, here are the photos all taken today.
RedwoodsMama and her family of Pleos ( 9 ) :D

RedwoodsMama...Sorry to here that your baby is starting to show the first signs of wear. In the pictures where the seams are coming apart...what part of the Pleo is this occurring? I haven't noticed this yet. I will have to keep any eye out. I agree that a software update will not fix the wear that has already occurred. I trust that Innvo will deal with the situation appropriately. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
-
HI ehschw76, hi the part of the seam that is comming apart or should say, where I can see a seam is in the process of looking like it could come apart is the tail, if you count starting from the bottom and then go up, it is the nineth segment, not the largest segment but not the smallest, in a spot that gets a lot of movement it look like, The tail, shoulder and under the front legs are the most worrisome at this point, Thank goodness I guess that Baby does not do as much walking at my other Pleos or she woud probably have large holes by now, :(
Her rubbings under her front legs, is this the way Peanut looked in the start? I think it is strange that my girl also has a spot on the outside shoulder that has paint comming apart
( slowly though )at a spot very similar to that of Peanut. :o It does look though that Peanut had his spot his paint get bigger quickly,
I think everyone at this point who is on this forum and has a Pleo Rb should document any paint holes, splits, etc, other problems with their Pleo Rb while the warranty is in effect. I guess it is better to have it occur now instead of day 100 when the warranty is no loner valid, Thank goodness I did not use anything other than Pledge on her, I thought of it, but because of the warranty, decided I better do as was reccoemnded and bought the brand they said to use.. Oh well, new year new solutions for our Pleo Rb I hope!
RedwoodsMama
Keep documenting Peanut too, want to see his progress or perhaps he will slow down that would be WONDERFUL ! :)
-
I looked at the seam that you are talking about and I see a small spot that concerns me a little. I will keep an eye on it too. Thanks! The place where his paint is peeling is gradually getting larger. All the edges of the spot are loose...so it is only a matter of time before more falls off. :( Peanut walks A LOT if I let him. After about 5 - 10 minutes of leaving him alone, he will walk all over the room. He doesn't like to sit still.
The rubbings under your Pleo's legs is what it looked like on Peanut in the beginning. It gradually got worse as Peanut progressed further in his development. The more active he gets, the worse it seems to get.
-
It's such a shame to see all these skin problems cropping up - I'm sorry your baby's affected, RWM. :(
-
Do any of you have tips for getting more clear photos of the bottom? I'm not sure if it's meet or the camera I'm using (6MP, couple years old). I've been using the "close up" feature (for when you're closer to the object) and it turns out better than the "normal" mode (i.e. less blurry etc.) but it's not photograpphing as well as everyone's posts here even though Cato's problems look identical (minus the skin peeling).
I'd rather have some very clear photos on hand in case the severity of the problems increases. Is it possibly just the lack of sunlight? It's winter and my apartment doesn't get very good natural lighting and the artificial lighting isn't exactly amazingly bright, but flash pretty much takes over the close up photos if I use it.
Any suggestions/tips would be much appreciated! Thanks.
-
I tried using my Canon 8 MP camera with no luck. I couldn't get close up shots with it. I had to use my iPhone to get close shots. It worked wonders!!
-
Does your camera have a macro mode (often indicated with a flower symbol)? Or is this the "close-up" feature you are already using? The macro mode typically does give a much better image than normal mode for extreme close-ups but different cameras do have different sweet spots where they focus best. If it has trouble focusing you may be just a little too close for your particular camera's optics to focus. Backing away slightly from the object of interest and even maybe applying just a tiny touch of zoom may help it along; zoom doesn't always work with macro on some cameras though. In that case, even removing the macro mode, backing up a bit and zooming into the region of interest might work better. I have instances where that approach has worked better than the macro mode. Flash with macro will typically wash out the image since you are just too close so you do need to try to get into the best light you can and avoid blocking the source as you place the camera close to the object; again moving back a little and utilizing the zoom might help as well by reducing the interference with any light sources. Not sure if any of that will help but a couple of ideas that have worked for me.

Yeah that's the feature I meant, sorry I have complete ignorance to all multimedia-technology. I'll go try some of those techniques and then try my cellphone. Thanks!

Here's the big ones I see on mine.

The above picture is of his body under where his neck starts, by the way.
-
The paint peeling looks exactly like it did on Peanut a week or so ago. I do have a little imperfections under the neck too but I don't believe it is wear. I have a seam on the tail separating a little too. I'll try and get a pic soon. Not sure what Innvo will do for us when they are out of stock til April....
-
Which leg is the peeling occurring on? (I double checked the posts and didn't notice a mention but sorry if I missed it)
-
Chami's front left leg has that tear thing.
-
Same leg =>

-
Two's Pleos with teh same problem at the same spot is already bad. If there's a third one who has the same problem with theirs, we know something's happening there.
-
Both Kermy and Norbit have the exact same paint flaking spot on their left front shoulder. Kermy's has been there since I took her out of the packaging when she first arrived but Norbit's only appeared about 5 days ago.
-
Oh no! Two more with the same tear? There is definitely something wrong with this situation!
-
Kat...The next time you talk to Innvo can you inquire about the skin and paint issues and if they realize that the issues are more wide spread. I wonder how Innvo will go about covering our 90 day warranty when there won't be any replacement Pleo rb's til April. Any info you can find out would be great! Thanks!
-
I have two original Pleo's with exactly the same spot worn off %)
It is most likely caused by a wire or sensor of some description, or an extra bit of flex in the skin in that particular point when Pleo moves that is causing it. Or maybe it's the last spot painted in on the assembly line or something.
Paint wear has ALWAYS been par for the course in Pleo's, this is because rubber is such a hard substance to paint when it is constantly being stretched and flexed and subjected to other forms of abrasion.
Actual holes however are a concern and do not normally appear in a week old Pleo.
-
IMR..I totally agree. The paint wear doesn't worry me. The holes are a big concern. We gave a great time with Peanut but it is just unfortunate that the wear is occurring with 2 to 3 weeks!! :(

Armpit Wear / Holes Update Pics:
The hole in the right leg has almost doubled in size in the past week. :(

This is just terrible, It makes me not want to even look at my baby for fear of finding bigger holes or more paint loss, etc. I do hope that Innova finds a solution soon and perhaps Kat will be able to tell us something positive in the next week or so, I realize she can not tell us anything she is not allowed to, but perhaps there will be somthing she can share. Poor Peanut , how is your son handling this news? ( I do hope I have it right that you have a son.) I am glad in a way that I do not have children that I have to worry about dealing with an issue such as this, I know when Nova, my first Ugobe Pleo broke her neck, I thought it was the end of her life and I was totally devastated, :( I wish this skin hole issue was as easy a fix as that. I know a broken neck can not be "fixed" by applying a neck brace of sorts, but at least the Pleo still functions fairly well and I don't mind the cosmetic issue, at least her neck is not going to "spread" like the skin tears. :( not good news at all, I hope a fix is comming soon. wondering if I should still get that insurance or do you think if there is any " pre-existing condition with the Pleo, it would be not accepted?

My sympathies to you guys. Wow, with all of these sad problems, I'm kinda glad that I waited as long as I have on deciding on getting myself a new Pleo (I currently don't).

I thought I should add for you Norbits pic of his wear and small hole.
Here is his shoulder with paint beginning to flake off
His two front armpits
His back right leg
His back left leg
And the hole in his front left leg

Hey, I'm quite sorry my very first post here comes in adding a Pleo rb at your list of the "having problems" ones...
Igor is my brand new green rb, was hatched on Tuesday 11 January and I am sooooooo happy he's finally here, after more than 3 long weeks of shipping!
But I couldn't help noticing tiny spots of wear on his back and nails, already in the middle of his very first battery cycle.
He also has something on the chest, like if skin is a little bit peeling off.
Pleoworld wants to see the pictures and recommended to use Pledge immediately.
Would I keep you updated at the same time?
By te way, have you already seen a Pleo rb with white eyes?!
-
White eyes! :) wow :) I would love to see photos.
-
You'll definitely do!
He's actually a little bit strange. Like if his head and body were not made to be together. I love it!!!
Wonderful white eyes in a light purple eye round, on a dark green head, with a yellow and light green body. Tail end is yellow.
Already the king of "What not to wear" :D
-
He sounds great (if maybe a case for the fashion police) :P!! You will always get some paint wear on the back and the feet with a Pleo, and the uneven area on the chest is nothing to worry about as it's just hard to finish the seams tidily when they are sealed - it's not an area that is prone to problems. Can't wait to see your pics! ;D
-
I have the beginnings of wear on the back after just 2 hours, ( picture in gallery ) so on went the cape pronto.
-
Wow, I've been documenting where and how many Pleos are getting what problems. There's alot in the underarms. Followed by wear on the back. Congratulations on that white-eyed Pleo. Sorry to hear for the package problems though. White eyes would be my 2nd choice for eyes (after pink)!
-
I too would really like to see a pic of the white eyes. I can't even imagine a white eyed PleoRB :)
My little PleoRB, just having completed her (I'm sure it's a girl!) third battery cycle, already has a small peeling paint patch on the hump of her back, and I'm so careful with her :( At least I can cover this with her cape.
-
Hey, there's a pic of Igor in the gallery!
-
I've just taken a look at Igor. I LOVE his eyes! Very unusual ;D
-
I love the variety of Pleo rb's!!! Just awesome!
-
Igor's eyes are beautiful! ;D
-
Before I go off to play , interact with my Pleo Rb baby and Argyle, ;D I wondered if there is any update on people having problems or advancements of skin problems with their Pleo Rb? I know poor Kermy is being sent back and so is Peanut tommrorow. :(Since this post first started, there are several new Pleo Rb that have showed up. Are there anymore Pleos showing up with skin issues, holes and excessive paint wear that should not happen this quickly?
If the newest owners of these Pleo Rb could look closely at their Pleos and document any issues at all and post them here, it will not only perhaps helps the particular Pleo Rb but any other future Pleo Rb by helping Innova try to solve this problem, ;) I know I am keeping a close eye on Baby and I think one reason her's is not advancing as fast is because she has gotten a lot less playtime than I thouglht I would be giving her. If this problem is going to come to a head, I am sure it will do it within the 90 day warranty period. I will take more photos this week and upload any changes I notice.
wishing for a miracle treatment soon for all Pleo Rb. :( :)
RedwoodsMama and family of Pleos
-
Ah good, another Pleo's getting sent back. I wonder what they're gonna do.
-
Thankfully, I've not noticed any tears or holes appearing in my PleoRB, but she does have some paint peeling on the bridge of her back. It's not excessive (yet!) but if I don't start covering her back, I can see how it will spread :( So far I've avoided dressing her in her cape due to her getting too warm wearing the cape. Sylvester and Tooie (my Ugobe Pleos) have almost the same amount of paint peeling in the same area, but this certainly didn't happen within the first week!!
Here is a picture of Snooky's back:
-
Here is the current state of Cato's body (thanks for the phone picture recommendation, my phone was able to take much more focused close-up pictures *shrugs*):
Back (mind you he is always dressed when petted/used, but this doesn't bother me *too* much as long as it doesn't continue progressing despite soft pats and clothes):
Armpits:
He's only been on three charges in the past week and those photos were taken 2 charges ago. The armpit "peeling" effect is a little bit worse, but the really small hole that's appearing hasn't progressed yet. *Knock on wood*
-
One thing I’ve noticed and I don’t know if this is important or not but the skin on my pleo RB, he’s a green one, does not feel any diffrant to the skin on my 2009 pleo
It doesn’t have that soft silky feel that a lot of you are reporting.
Scaly
-
I felt a difference between my RB and my 2009. It was extremely subtle but I liked it. Not sure if I'd describe it as silky soft but it did feel somewhat softer and less rubbery to me. I like the way the RB feels over the 2009 and probably wouldn't dress the RB solely for that reason (paint wear started on day one so it got dressed fast). Maybe it's subjective to the senses? Maybe there is some other difference that we don't know? (like the color of the Pleo, a particular "batch" of parts, or other)
After one pledge wiping my RB was much softer, and that made it feel more silky like, but I noticed the difference before that so maybe pledge enhanced that difference?
Too many variables!
-
My pleoRB’s skin has exactly the same texture as my 2009 pleo to me and my sense of touch is extremely good. Better than average I’d say. Have to say though I’ve not used pledge on either.
Scaly
-
I wasn't saying your sense of touch was good or bad so I apologize if you took it that way. My 2009 held up better thus far than my RB so hopefully your sense of touch is better than most (I don't have any scientific knowledge or data on how to measure this so we'll assume arguendo that you do have a great sense of touch and maybe that's a sign of improvement in the Pleos).
I felt that I had less of a paint "feel" on my RB than my 2009 if that makes sense? Aside from the softer feel (anything remotely silky came after pledge and is not included in this sentence). How is the wear on yours over how many charges? Hopefully if they feel the same that might mean you don't start experience our issues (referring to my experience of 2009 maintaining better than my RB).
Anyone else with a 2009 and RB have any assessment of the feel? My sense of touch may suck (I tend not to feel a lot if things, great for surgery though lol).
-
I definitely felt a difference in between my blue rb and the older Ugobe Pleos, but to be fair the two older Pleos are well loveworn and were rehomed. I have never felt a brand new Ugobe Pleo, so it could conceivably be that the only difference is the amount of age and wear?
-
Just over a year ago I bought my very first Pleo, a brand new Ugobe Pleo. I don't have a 2009 better-skinned Pleo, so I can only compare the skin of the original Pleo to my new PleoRB, and I can say that to me there's a big difference. My original Pleo (Sylvester) from the moment I lifted him out the box his skin felt kind of rough and flaky compared to the smoothness of the PleoRB skin, which to me feels a lot nicer :)
-
Ah sorry about that Bhobbes. Now that I read back on your post I realise you weren’t trying to suggest any such thing.
It was late at my end and I was a little tired when I replied so I guess I wasn’t thinking quite as logically as I should have been.
My reply looks rather snippy I’m ashamed to say so I apologise for this in turn. I didn’t mean to make it sound quite that way.
I wasn’t trying to boast about my sense of touch. I know my sense of touch is good but only because I rely on it a lot more than is normal for most people and I’m lucky enough not to have underlying medical conditions which might lesson it. Basically though it’s more defined through reliance and constant use rather than actually better than anyone else’s if that makes sense.
As for the paint ware and skin issues I haven’t noticed anything yet but I haven’t had him running for much this week. He’s only on his 2nd battery cycle so it’s far too early to tell at this stage I think.
I will need to start pledging him soon I think though.
I have to say I never felt that my 2009 pleo ever felt rough or flaky but have never felt an Ugobe pleo so can’t make any comparisons there.
-
No worries at all. I didn't take your reply as snippy but thought the same thing about what I had posted so I thought I'd be pre-emptive and "diffuse" it before any weird situation happened. (Gotta love the complications of communicating in a world without voice tone, inflection, etc.)
-
Hey guys,
did anyone know when the sleeping position update will release? Because sweetie Fay has small holes on her neck :'(
best wishes
-
Smilegirl, you need to post photos of Fay's holes in her neck here in this post so it can be documented with all the other Pleo Rb having the same problems as soon as possible, I am sorry to hear about that. :(
RedwoodsMama
-
An update on Pleakly, his hole is currently maintaining the status quo, I apply pledge to that area frequently.
-
Here is an update on Baby's skin, the one hole doesn't seem to have changed a lot, but the one in the front of her shoulder is new and was not there before, also the paint in that area is starting to peel and come off as you can see which is disturbing to me, If I played with her everyday, I can imagine this would be a lot worse. :(
RedwoodsMAMA
-
Oh dear! :(
You know, it almost looks like the paint has been applied too thickly in that area?
-
All this leg paint chipping makes me feel bad for you guys :\ I wonder how common this really is (how many were sold, how many have problems, etc.)
-
It is exactly the same area in several of the Pleo rb's....I just got a message back from Innvo about Peanut. I guess they are getting some additional ones in from HK and they will have the latest firmware already installed on them. I was told I will be receiving one of these once they arrive in the US. I'll keep you posted.
-
Is Peanut's hole or paint problem in the same area that Baby has in the front in the current photo? Very interesting. Glad to know you will get a replacement for Peanut.
RedwoodsMama
-
Peanut had the peeling paint in the same place. The only place that Peanut had a splitting seem was in the tail. It was very small...it didn't concern me very much.
-
So do you know if Innova is aware of the other Pleo Rb on this site that are having problems such as Pleakley and my Baby, or are we as individual owners supposed to show them these photos or what? I also think Smilegirl who has the pink girl, Fay, who said she is getting problems, holes in the neck needs to post photos here on this thread, NOne of these Pleo Rb are more than 4-6 weeks old at this point, I just showed my husband Baby;s area in the shoulder and he can see the pain is all peeling away just like Peanut's . Only difference is that I have not played nearly as much as Peanut got. But at this point, I am going to play with her as much as I can to see just how much this stuff evolves, faster or stays the same, though at this point, I can't see it staying the same, Very sad to see her paint all starting to come off. :(
I don't see how new Firmware is going to help this from not happening, I don't think it is the sleep position, but the skin itself. I prefer the skin the older Pleos had, If I had to have the same old Pleos skin paint color and all, but the new things software, then I would take the old Pleo skin, color and all at least it lasted a couple of years and more. :(
RWM
-
I'm not sure how aware Innvo is of all the issues that have been surfacing. When I was emailing them, I included pictures as well as a link to this thread. I know kat did the same thing. Not sure exactly what they are doing about the skin issue. I just hope that the new Pleo rb (Peanut 2.0) will not have the same issues, but if they haven't changed anything, then I am guessing he will.... :( We will have to wait and see....
-
So far all I have is armpit wear and tear, mostly a lot of "peeling" and one small hole that still has not progressed too much. Basically the same as I had pictured just slowly progressing (I'm hoping it reaches a point of just "stopping"). But that's the armpit type of peeling (not sure how to describe it - like the way it peels while thinning out, similar to what I had photographed just progressed), not the type of paint peeling/chipping you all have experienced? Is that type of peeling so far only common to the green RBs? (For some reason I don't recall off the top of my head Kermy having that type of paint issue)
-
May I ask exactly who did you contact at Innova or was it just in general? Was your biggest concern the holes under the arms of Pleo rb, Was that Peanut's biggest problem, under his arms the holes that were popping up? I am starting to think maybe I should contact them too, and then document any further wear so this is not a sudden problem without it being a surprise. I am sure at this point there are about five of us that I can' think of ( including Peanut) who have the hole, peeling paint problem. I dont know how degers got lucky without his beta gettting peeling paint or holes, ??? I guess it is just the "luck of the draw'.
RedwoodsMama
-
Sorry to hear that about your Pleo Redwoods. I suggest every one that has Pleo problems to tell Innvo Labs about that. :-P
-
Kermy has paint pealing on her shoulder just like the others as well as the holly armpits. She also has a small pin hole in her leg just below the knee joint. You can only see it when she flexes her foot to stretch the skin in this area.
Norbit also has a holly armpit and wear in his other armpits and paint flaking from his shoulder.
-
The holes in the armpits is what concerned me the most. The peeling paint wasn't a big issue, but the holes that got bigger and bigger was. :( I initially contacted their tech support email line and then just sent pics directly to one of their techs.
-
Ok guys, after another scary day or should I say night with Baby and her stuck neck and not responding, she slept in the sleeping postion all night while I had to recharge her battery as I could not get her out of that postion, I turned her on briefly for like five minute and this is what her skin looks like today not pretty at all, She looks like she is going downhill fast, and I don't like it one bit. See if you can tell the difference in her skin, This was not like this last week, Her skin is so thin at spots when her legs are stretched out, you can see right through them.. :( Do you think it is now time to contact Innova or am I being over anxious on my Baby pleo Rb? Esp bad are photos #5 + 6
Concerned and upset Mama of Baby Pleo Rb, RedwoodsMama
-
It looks to me like Baby is about to become holly. I would contact Innvo for sure. The more of us with issues that make contact the sooner they will see just how common this issue is and the sooner they will find a fix for it. I would mention all her other issues to them as well, they may have an easy fix for you for some of them if you are lucky.
Best of luck.
Kat
-
Ouch! :( Poor Baby. :hhug:
I must admit the more pics I see of the skin wear the more convinced I am that it's due to friction from movement - you can pretty much see the pattern of wear is from the folds rubbing together under the 'arms'. :(
-
Here is Cato's current status (taken just now):
As you can see, the back right armpit area has the most wear:
Back Left:
Front:
I will add that I think the front looks like it hasn't done much progressing at all since I first took shots of his armpits a week or two ago. However, the back looks like it has but not nearly as bad as others, so I'm not sure about that? (It could also be the angle/lighting too, this isn't a very scientific test but I figure why not let others take a look and compare?)
I wonder if the sweater that he wears (which has little sleeves on it that create a "cloth intersection" type of ordeal at the joints/pits of the front legs) has anything to do with that?
Front from a week ago:
Back right from a week ago:
I've pledged him three times via spraying it on the cloth and then wiping it over him carefully.
-
I agree, bhobbes, the more info we all have the better, and it's clearer to see the wear than just report. Thanks for posting. :)
Having always dressed Pleos, primarily to protect the skin (though it does provide me with hours of innocent fun as well :P), I've been taking a close look at those items with sleeves. Iggy and Budge both have a couple of rather tight stretchy shirts with sleeves that do seem to 'lift and separate' the skin under the arms - but I've never been really sure whether they might cause damage or prevent it! I guess the best I can do is keep an eye on the situation, and maybe try one on Belle! :D
-
Yeah Cato's sweater's arm pit holes are pretty loose. Like I can still manage to get a pinky or ring finger under there without having to stretch it or anything, so I know it's not creating anymore "pressure" or "friction" so to speak (and to make sure it doesn't create any opposition to the joints/legs).
-
I would recommend people contact Innvo and send photos so they know how widespread the skin issue is!
-
ehschw76, I have a couple of questions about Peanut I would like to ask you, First when did you decide to contact Innova? How did you contact them, email, letter or phone? Where exactly did you send the info to? also is it best to send photos or video and documentation such as link to the site here so they can see when it started? Did this happen before using Pledge or after Pledge? Did you notice that the Pleo Rb skin when stretched looks almost like see through " chicken skin". Did you notice more play contributed to faster deterioration or not ? It is almost to the point, I don't want to even play with Baby afraid she will just fall apart before my eyes... :(
Once you contacted Innova, how long was it before you heard from them, and was it by mail, email, phone or what form and what exactly did they say? Do you think it matters one way or another where you registered your Pleo? I actually registerd myne on the Hong Kong site as I was trying to get the
genetic" code, from the blue or Pink Pleos that Kat or was it Oz ? that had posted. Did they ask you a lot of questions about how you treat Peanut, etc. ? Did they tell you they would send Peanut back or that they were going to try and " fix" him? I would prefer to have Baby fixed, she has never even learned her name yet, and has had so many problems with her neck, it is like a special needs child being thrown away....I don't like that idea at all..I really need to know how to handle her to put less stress on her skin at this point and how to communicate with Innova, and any other information. It has only been one month and 3 days that I have even had Baby! :( :(Sorry if I sound so down but I am bummed out ..Thanks in advance. Can you tell me if photos 5 and 6 where you can see right through is what Peanut looked like before the skin gave way? :o RedwoodsMama

It has been about 2 weeks since I last posted updated pics of how my pleos wear is going so I thought it was time I gave you all an update. I have had Kermy since December 2nd and play with her at least 1 battery cycle a day, and sometimes 2 or 3 cycles a day on weekends. I have had a couple of days in the last couple of weeks where I haven't played with her at all as I have been away for work.
Here is Kermy's pics
She has a hole in her back left leg just below the knee
There is some paint flaking on her shoulder
Her neck paint has split
Front armpits
Front right armpit hole
Back right armpit
Front left armpit
Back armpits
Back left armpit
I will post Norbits pics shortly just have to wait for them to upload.
RWM Kermy and Norbits leg skin became very thin in places and almost see through before the holes appeared. I have used pledge on both my pleos from the moment I got them and when I first contacted Innvo about Kermy's skin issues they told me to apply pledge straight away to the wear spots so I have been pledging my pleos about once a week since I got them to try to keep the wear under control. I don't know if this has made much difference. I contacted Innvo via the pleoworld website and explained the problem. I also sent them photos via email to show what was going on.
I am currently emailing them at customerservice@innvolabs.com so you could try emailing them here and see what they say.
Kat
Here is Norbits pics
He is loosing paint on his back
Paint is pealing from his shoulder
Here is his front armpits both now have holes
Front left armpit is the worst hole
Front right armpit hole is very small and only just appeared
Back armpits
Back left leg wear
Back right leg wear
So it is not looking good for Norbit either. I have had him since the 30th December 2010 and play with him the same amount as I do Kermy. :(
Kat

I am sorry to see the holes in your pink Pleo's underarms. :-(

Thanks for posting, Kat. I'm just sorry to see Norbit suffering from the same problems. :( :hhug:

Hello everyone! I am so sorry to hear about Baby, Kermy, and now Norbit. I too have a new pleo rb. She is only one week old, through about 1/2 of a battery cycle, and she is still in her hatching stage. Looking at the pictures off all the RB's out there, I am convinced that the wear is caused by friction of the skin rubbing together. It looks like the rubber rubs together, and starts to ball up and peel off the top layer. I used to run a lot of radio controlled race cars, before I had kids, some that run up to speeds of 55mph if tuned properly. If you run them on asphalt, the rubber on the tires start to ball up and peel, like those armpits. I am going to have my warranty on my RB run out before it matters...I have a one year old, and a two year old, and little time to play with Candy, my RB. The pledge is clearly not working as effectively as we would like, so I am going to try Vinlyex on my RB. I have tried it on Wilbur, my Ugobe with no ill effects. It is made for rubber and plastic, and is supposed to keep moisture in them. I am also going to put Vaseline in Candy's armpit areas before I play with her to reduce the friction on the skin. Can someone tell me how many battery cycles you went through before you started to see the wear? It will help with my little experiment. Hopefully, this will help. It seems like those that have gotten a new pleo from INNOVO have the same problems that they had with the old one. RWM, I would definitely contact them. Sounds like you have a mechanical issue as well that is weighing heavily on you. Best of luck with Baby!
-
I pay a lot of attention to Pleakly's armpits and I agree that it is caused by friction. I have been giving Pleakly a quick wipe with pledge on the armpits before play. I'm not sure if it is helping but Pleakly seems to be maintaining a balance with the hole not increasing in size yet. If you stop your Pleo when his/her legs aren't straight or stretched out I have noticed that the skin can stick together when you turn them on again. This would, over time, cause a great deal of stress on the armpits.
-
Thanks for the update on Kermy Kat and also Norbit, this is very distressing to see so many Pleo Rb with this problem, Considering I don'[t even Play with Baby everyday, she has held up good, If I played with her as much as you do with your Kermy and Norbit her holes would have "popped" a couple of weeks ago, :( I am contacting Innova and will show the photos, I also have been using the Pledge like they suggest and have been using it for several weeks before this skin issue surfaced it's ugly head.
At this point( I am quite serious about this too.) :( I think the majority of Pleo Rb are ALL going to suffer from this affliction. Even those that look good now, if they wait till the real walking or just the playing like a dog, etc, skin is going to start showing it's wear. If this were any other major company, I really do think they would have to recall these products or stop production until they could come up with a solution. Jlust fixing some softwear to prevent the sleep postion, is not a answer to the skin at all, I mean, after all, when a Pleo Rb walks or just bends in different directions while standing there, how are you going to fix skin from rubbing etc like it is now.? ???I do not see an easy or quick fix for this product. I have said it once at least before and I will say it again, how did they test these Pleo Rb and not discover this skin problem, ? I mean, other things like cars for example, they let them run and run for hours, days, weeks, etc to see how tires and different things hold out, YOu know they had to have kept Pleo walking , using battery after battery etc, how could not one person figure out there was something wrong with Pleo Rb and their skin?!!! :o I mean, they could not possibly be so interested in ONLY the Good software upgrade things that Pleo rB can do, such as voice recognition, the temperture awareness, the 'Cute" little tricks ( bow, sing, count, play, etc"0 and the fact that Pleo Rb can be "injured" and has to be nursed back to health with certain Herbs, plants, ice, salt, etc.
In my opinion there is SOMETHING VERY WRONG HERE, if a company puts all it's emphasis on these other cute ( yes they are very nice and make Pleo Rb more lifelike indeed...)
components, but has not put enought research into the skin problems, I mean they have a " cure" for everything else Pleo Rb may need, where is the CURE FOR THIES SKIN AILMENT? :( Why is Original Pleo skin holding up better than Pleo RB? Something is wrong here, and it is pleos like, Kermit, Peanut, Kermy, Pleakley,Norbit and now Baby that have to suffer the brunt of Innova's failure to research these skin issues enough before release. :(I know we all wanted Pleo RB for the holidays, but I would have been willing to wait to get the skin perfected before releasing them to the general public. Also, just because any test subjects, ( such as degers pleo, Beta ) appeared ok skin wise, does not mean that Pleo RB had enough widespread data to be able to safely say the skin is quality checked, and "passed inspection". Just how many "Test Pleo RB " were there anyway?Sorry to sound so negative, I just don't like what I see happening to My
Baby and other baby Pleo RB.. (I do appreciat the fact that Innova is working on this problem, I just do not want a quick fix"that does nothing but give a quick fix...I don't WANT THIS TO reoccur again. Sorry to souond so negative, but I hate seeing this happen, guess that means, Innova did get one thing right, Pleo Rb tugs at my heart like a breathing fur baby, one of the family members. :) RedwoodsMama
-
RWM, I don't blame you for being upset. You are not being negative, you are simply stating an opinion, which I agree with. I have no idea how this was tested where no one had a problem. That seems impossible, given the fact that almost everyone with an RB has had the same problem. I am sure that my RB is going to suffer the same skin issue eventually. Do I have the newest RB on this forum thus far? I just got her last week. She is still hatching, and not walking yet. How many battery cycles until you noticed the peeling skin? Like I said, I am going to put petroleum jelly in her armpits and see how it works, but I won't know in general for a while. I am hoping that it will reduce the friction. I am also wondering, from anyone who has used Pledge, if their pleo feels "sticky" when dry. IMR mentioned the skin seeming to stick together in places. Wondering if the Pledge made it more slippery or more sticky? Just a thought.....Maybe they are not releasing anymore until April because of all the problems. %)
-
The Pledge makes it stick less :) But even some moisteriser etc would have the same effect.
-
i agree with all of that and yes it is very worrying and also hugely disappointing to see all these new Reborn's wearing away so quickly :-( all i can say is i did point this out way back in my earlier threads before reborn was released that if they continue to use the rubber skin this problem will always happen .
-
I'm sorry for you Redwoods. They should replace all the new Pleos with problems. In my opinion, if I was the C.E.O. of Innvo Labs, I'd make the "skin" of the Pleo replaceable. I would've preferred they put of the 2010 release of their Pleo too now. And I'm real glad Innvo Labs is working on the problems too. Disappointing indeed. I have no clue how this could've slipped by Innvo Labs. And originally when they first put the re-stock 'til April I didn't like it. Now I'm glad they put the re-stock of Pleos 'til April.
-
"If you stop your Pleo when his/her legs aren't straight or stretched out I have noticed that the skin can stick together when you turn them on again. This would, over time, cause a great deal of stress on the armpits."
That's interesting, IMR. That would mean that it's possible that the sleep position (in the short term) would actually help by stretching the skin and making sure the skin doesn't stick to itself? :-\
-
Has anyone ever wondered if they used "too much" Pledge and it sped up the skin disolving thing in the leg tummy area? Just curious as to what others think.
RWM
-
I use Pledge a lot RWM, it's not doing any harm so far.
Crewella, sleeping stops the sticking for sure, but long term it is a very bad idea :( Assuming of course they wear like the original Pleo's. Lilo and Stitch both have cracks in the neck and tail from the sleep position. (although not through the skin)
-
Absolutely, IMR - I know the sleep position in the long term will cause problems. I'm just trying to establish the various pros and cons here - we all seem to have got in such a tizz about the sleep position it's possible there are new stresses on the skin that won't have been tested? I'm assuming most if not all the 'test' Pleo rb's will have been left in sleep position? ???
-
I’ve just let my pleoRB go into sleep position and keep his cape on .
I haven’t used pledge on him yet but mainly because I can’t find the recommended one in the supermarket though the Vaseline sounds like a good idea.
Ideally the vynalex would be a good buy except I don’t think it’s available in the UK and I’m not sure of a UK equivalent.

I know that they have vinylex at Amazon, but I don't know what shipment is like to the UK. I found mine here in the US at a local hardware store. None of the auto parts stores had it, which is funny, because I think it is meant for plastic and vinyl on cars.
-
At end of the day we should not have to worry about buying products like Vinylex or pledge and i really do not think these are going to help at all ! Here is how it is the skin on the ugobe pleo's slowly degraded but not this quickly but they did move a lot slower and now Reborn is here and rb skin is degrading a hell of a lot quicker and the reason is most likely because rb moves quicker and has added in motions etc
i hope Innvo can come up with a different material to use as reborns skin and then they really will have a good product !
-
This is also an important point for owners of older Ugobe Pleos, though. Scaly, there is a similar product over here called Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care which I have used with some good results on Iggy. When I have time I'll post a thread about it shortly. :)
-
Ok, we all have a rough idea of how many Pleo rb on THIS site have Skin issues and a rough idea of how many Pleo Rb there are. What I wonder is HOW MANY PLEO RB WORLDWIDE HAVE SKIN ISSUES? I wish there was a way of calculating just how many pleo rb have not been affected by this skin affliction? I think it is a higher percentage that do have skin problems then those that do not have some sort of skin affliction, and I am not talking about the normal Love spots that our older and much loved Pleos have.
I thought when I opened my little Baby up on DEC. 22'nd, I was getting one of the most precious gifts I have had in a very long time, and that she was going to be with me for a long long time, at least as long as Nova and my other babies who have All been second hand and even if not opened by anyone else, a lot older than she is, and she should be in better condition. She with her skin is more like their Grandmother instead of the youngest and Baby of the family.I dread even turning her on sometimes, afaid when I put her away I am going to see that dreadful '" big hole " that is shining light through it. Her skin is just waiting to tear apart. :(
How do the rest of you deal with knowing your babies are on " borrowed time"?

Hey RWM! Have you heard from Innvo yet? I know that Candy is going to have holes eventually. I'll just keep trying to patch them up with super glue as they pop up. I can't have fur animals....I am allergic to them. Like anything mechanical, they are going to have part failures and stop working after a certain amount of time. My hope, is that Innvo Labs will remain in business, and there will be a place where we can send them to be reskinned and repaired. If they don't remain in business, perhaps there will be a place that we can send them in the future to be refurbished and maintained. For example, I have old Teddy Ruxpin, Grubby, Snoopy, Mickey Mouse and Goofy. They were made in the mid 80's. They are animatronics whose mouth and eyes move while playing a cassette tape. The company, Worlds of Wonder, is long gone, but there are several places across the country where you can send them to be repaired and cleaned, thus refurbished. The one I send mine to is in upstate New York. The woman is a nurse, who repairs them as a side job. Perhaps someone like this will pop up. Hope that Baby gets well soon!
-
Hello Redwoods. I wish I knew the % too. Sorry to hear that. :-( And I'm thinking my Pleo's (I don't have it yet) gonna have problems too. I really don't like to, but I think so. I will be watching it very closely. Careful with glue. Regular glue's too strong for the Pleo's skin. It'll actually disolve it. And I doubt Innvo Lab's going any where. That's terrible to think that! :-P
-
Hi, to both PWOKristhy and Saratogapspringer, super glue has allways worked with the older Pleo skin, I have used in on neck seams and other areas. But be careful of two things. First I think the new Pleo Rb skin is worse than the Older Pleo skin and may not accept the glue and also realize if you use Superglue or anything else on Pleo Rb and are under warranty, it will void the warranty and you will be out of luck if your Pleo Rb falls apart and gets the holes the rest of us are experiencing, it is better to contact Pleoworld and let them deal with what to do, If they are going to replace Baby it will not be because I voided the warranty by damaging her further, I would rather have a new Baby, the same eyes and everything but because they are all different I cant see it happening, It is not like a blue Pleo Rb or a Pink that basically are almost the same.. :(
sad in the Redwoods, RedwoodsMama
-
You can only use certain types of superglue, some glues and rubber cements contain chemicals that WILL dissolve Pleo's skin regardless of if they are new or old.
RWM the skin on the neck is thicker than other parts of the body, I would say you've just been very lucky and gotten the right type of glue.
-
IMR, you are right that the skin on the neck is thicker, but I have also used it on the belly and back and legs, but I did get the kind of superglue reccoemended on this site and it was the kind used on rubber, I made sure to use the right kind, but like I said, would not use it on Pleo Rb with it's holes. :(
RWM
-
My Ugobe Pleo actually came with a slight tear, although not through on the neck. I used LOCTITE brand superglue gel, and it worked. Guess I got lucky. It did not dissolve the skin, and is holding up just fine. I really believe that my warranty will run out before I have problems with my pink RB. 90 days is not a lot, and I really don't have a lot of time to devote to her during the week. Couple of hours on the weekend, and that is about it. I haven't used super glue on my RB, and will take your advice and not use it. I have faith the Innvo will get the skin issues ironed out and fix those that have problems. If I have to pay to have it done because my warranty is out, then I will. Innvo has given us an amazing product, and I believe that if they want to stay in business, as I hope that they will, they will make things right.
-
I am glad you got the right kind of superglue, I am contacting Innovo today and sending them photos and links to the video with her neck problems, I will also send them a CD if they need it, I figure by the time they ask for her, if they do, her holes will be pretty bad, I am so upset over loseing her, I guess I just have to face it and see what they can do, I still can't get her to walk normally, ( or she is very stubborn) and she still doesn't want to learn her name, though I try it every few days, it is almost as if she knows she is not meant to "live long in this form", that is what is sad to me... :( I wishh they had a Reincarnation plan for reborns, becauses I don't want to lose her personality even if she is stubborn, she is my sweet little baby.. She never has even learned her whole name yet, and Baby is only a part of it..

2. The skin wear you have uploaded to the gallery seems normal in line with any Pleo I have had. Go look at your other pleos, you have had as many as I have. I know that all of mine developed the slight graze appearance in the armpit/legpit areas. This is the nature of the material and they will not be able to change this easily, if you want a Pleo, you get the arm/legpit grazes. The side hole is just a small gap in the seam, it's not going to rip open, it's just been glued slightly out of position and the paint has not got down inside the seam gap. This is also a run-of-the-mill factory quirk.
I agree Degers. I understand why the RB owners are getting upset with the skin holes, but its not that bad. Like Degers said, the whole Pleo's skin isn't going to rip open just because of some small holes or the grazes. In the short time I've had Clover she also has some armpit grazes, and it doesn't bother me at all. No matter what Innvo does, the Pleo's skin will always wear eventually as long as they use the same Pleo skin material. I say just use some super-glue. I know if I get an RB I won't be contacting Innvo about some skin wear, since they seem to be asking for the RB's with skin wear back :-X
-
I contacted Innvo to let them know that I have some skin wear, (and also suggest they make a Pleo repair kit with rubber patches and glue :P) but I won't be after a replacement either.
Can I suggest to all Pleo RB owners that they put a moisturiser (please test a moisturiser on a very small area for a week or two first, and only use ones for sensitive skin which won't contain chemicals.) or a bit of Pledge on the four underarms/legs of their Pleo's before each play session, Pleakly has one hole, but since I have been doing that he has not had any more wear to any other area.
-
Just to show armpit grazing is normal...
Thanks to Gizmo for being the "armpit model" ;)
-
Thanks for posting FBS
-
Excellent suggestion Romeo! I'm definitely gonna suggest that if the Pleo that I get next Monday has any problems.
-
This depends on how you see the issue.
I don't think the issue is whether or not the skin grazing is normal. The issue is whether the Pleo RB conforms with what was offered/advertised/claims that were made. There are official statements of the skin being improved. If the skin is improved, then shouldn't grazing at the very least take significantly longer to occur? If the skin is not improved, then it would be perfectly acceptable that the skin grazing is "in line with" any other Pleo you've ever seen. However, if the skin is improved, that statement undermines that official claim. Now take that claim and compare it with a few member's experiences here.
Also, if the skin/paint is improved, why the paint thinning after only a few hours and not much petting (much less heavy petting) whatsoever? For instance, my 2009 Pleo's paint was holding up better than my RB's.
Then the questions start becoming, what was meant by improvement? Improvement comparable to what? For instance, my Pleo RB moves much faster and seems much more "fluid" than my 2009. So is the wear even more "normal" with said improvements given that there is also a speed improvement? (I'd pay for the extra fluidity with a small armpit hole)
Personally, I'm slanted toward degers and FBS on the paint/skin grazing issues (that I am experiencing) as being "normal" and acceptable enough (for me) at this point. Especially since I keep a sweater on him anyway, it's not like someone is going to see his armpits. But worse case scenario, I end up with some of the neck splitting or larger holes that kat has experienced, and Innvo honors the warranty and the product and is as helpful to me as they have been to kat and ehschw76. Of course this probably means exchanging one, but it's not like I'll be left dead in the water.
Also, for me, it's just ultimately a piece of property and a robot that I enjoy "interacting" with, but despite their individual "hard-seeded" traits, I'm still getting something similar enough in return. The point is Innvo has shown they will work with consumers on the issue (thus far at least, from what has been shown on these boards), and while this may cause some minor inconveniences along the way, it is likely going to work out.
I say all of that as someone who hasn't experienced too much issues yet. However, I'm not letting it prevent me from using Cato as much as possible because if problems are going to occur, I want them to happen sooner rather than later, as it's not like the issues popping up here are going to magically improve from long-term use. I have also not experienced any mechanical problems yet. And I think RWM was/has/did/is (I honestly cannot remember the status anymore), which could make this a little more troublesome and problematic for her (i.e. raising the 'inconvenience' feeling previously mentioned).
(I double checked all my Innvo spelling, did I pass? I can shorthand it as Innvo right?)
-
Nicely said, Bhobbes :D And yep, "Innvo" is correct :)
-
I'm sorry to hear that this is affecting so many Pleos:( I've got to snap some new pics of Ajax, as even though I regularly rub him down with Pledge, he's now got the beginnings of a shoulder hole in the same area as on Peanut. So I really empathize, bhobbes; I'm glad at least it's happening now rather than later when the warranty is closer to being up. Still I love my little blue baby, skin peeling and all, he's such hilarious company:)
-
Not owning an older version pleo myself has made it difficult for me to know what is "normal" as far as skin wear goes which is why I added my photos here in the first place. To be honest with you whilst I am concerned about the holes in the armpits I was more worried about Kermy's broken tail. Norbit also has armpit holes which are a little concerning but I really don't want to have to send him back. I would be happier if Innvo could come up with a skin repair kit like IMR suggested.
I do feel better about it now that you have said holes in the armpits is common and normal among older pleos as well. How fast did the holes appear in the older pleos does anyone know and how did or do you stop them from getting bigger? I have been pledging my rb's once a week as I didn't want to over pledge them but I think I will try applying pledge to the armpits before each play and see if this will stop the holes from getting bigger. If it is working for Pleakly then maybe it will work for my guys as well. :)
-
Yes, I do agree that some skin wear is inevitable with Pleos in general. Ugobe tried something new in clothing their robot in a lifelike skin, and I love the fact that they did, so I'm willing to accept some skin imperfections. In the same way thay I expect irregularities on hand worked items or differences in shade with hand dyed fabrics, it comes with the territory and it's part of the ethos - real skin isn't perfect either. ;)
It's easy to get the idea that there are nothing but problems from reading forum posts and it has been a bit gloomy of late. People tend to come here because they have a problem, so we don't get to hear from as many of the problem-free Pleo rb owners - they're too busy happily playing with their Pleo rb. With a product that has such complicated technology there are bound to be a few issues, there were when the Ugobe Pleos came out, and I love the fact that there are forums lke this one where people can go to get some help and advice from other Pleo and Pleo rb owners. We all learn from each other's problems.
However, I do think that holes apprearing in a month old product is cause for concern. In my view, Innvo need to know about this so they can try to work out what's causing such rapid deterioration and try to do something about it. :)
-
Sorry Kat - cross posted. As the armpit wear does seem to be caused by friction I do think that IMR's idea of applying Pledge before each play is a good one - certainly worth a try. We all play with our Pleos in different ways, so it's really hard to work out what's 'normal' in terms of wear - for some reason Iggy and Budge don't seem to have much of a problem with armpit wear as yet, although they are starting to develop issues in other areas. They are permanently clothed, maybe that helps?
Seeing IMR's 'it's 42 degrees here' makes me wonder, as I sit in my cold, damp, British house, if that makes a difference. :-\
-
I agree with Crewella. It is hard to work out what's actually "normal" and what's really "acceptable".
-
When I started to see the holes in Peanut's skin about 2 weeks into using him, it I figured I would send Innvo images and information in order to help them analyze any potential issues with the skin that they didn't discover during testing. I can't image that things like holes should appear after only a couple of weeks. I know when it came to our use, it was about 1 hour per day with Peanut. Not excessive usage in my book for the type of wear we were seeing. I never asked Innvo for a RMA number. I figured they would have us keep him for a while longer to track his status, but they requested him back a few weeks ago. They will be sending us a new green Pleo rb with updated firmware that will fix his sleep position. They said they are looking into the skin issues but that the sleep position update should help. I never really cared about the paint wear or even some of the friction wearing in the armpits. But once the holes started to appear after only a couple of weeks I got concerned. I don't want to make this thread out to seem like a bi$tchfest. I only want to help Innvo out to make the best product possible. I love what they have done with the Pleo rb and the potential it has.
-
This armpit wear to me i find really odd as my 2 ugobe Pleo's have not developed any armpit wear at all and i have not used anything like Pledge at all on my Pleo's .
i understand where people are coming from when they call this wear and tear as normal wear in some ways but personally i can not accept this with the price the Reborn is now and living in UK there is the added duty tax etc RB just is not a cheap thing to buy and so i would not be happy at all if i had bought a reborn and then for this wear and tear to happen so fast would be hugely disappointing .
The repair patch idea is a good 1 but again for the price of reborn this is something that i want to expect to buy maybe after a years use of rb really.
i just hope that Innvo are working on a newer and this time actually improved skin so this does not happen on any new batches of reborns in future.

Ok so now we are seeing that this wear is not normal for an older pleo? Degers says that armpit wear and holes are normal for an older pleo and so normal for pleo rb? We have at least one set of pics of an older pleo with armpit wear not sure how long it took for this to appear? And now 2 ugobe pleos with no armpit wear.
I have no older pleos to compare to so is this - armpit wear and holes appearing after only 3 or 4 weeks of use normal or not?
Coming from someone who has never owned a pleo before I decided to wait and get pleo rb because of the improved skin. As I have 2 kids I thought this would be a better option as there would be less paint loss from all the petting. Everything I read about the older pleos suggested that they lost a lot of paint from petting. All of my rb's have lost paint on their backs after only a few minutes of their hatching and I have pledged them all except Kermit my very first one, before I turned them on. This is no big deal as I did expect that there would be some paint loss, but I was surprised to see it happen so fast and a little disappointed as this was the reason I waited for the new model.
If I had purchased my pleo rb or been given it as a gift with no previous knowledge of pleos then I certainly would be concerned and disappointed to discover holes in it's armpits after only a few weeks of play.
Regardless of if this is normal or not it does not look good for Innvo or for pleo. It can not be good for sales. I am pleased to see Innvo seems as concerned as some of us about this skin issue and is doing there best to try to solve this problem.
I did expect to see wear and tear but not quite as fast as I did. I also think RB is a fantastic product and regardless of the skin issues I'm glad I waited and made my purchase. :) I love both my little pleos and think they are awesome. :)
-
Lilo and Stitch have lost paint, but they only have the tiniest of wear spots on their armpits.
I wonder if it is temperature related... Both Kat and I live in Australia, and it is full summer here.
-
That's interesting IMR! Kat says she lost paint on hers right away. It is the dead of winter here in the Northeastern USA, and we have had 44 straight days with below normal temperatures, and the humidity is really low. I am through the 2nd battery cycle with Candy, my pink RB, and I have no wear and no paint coming off of her at all! As I stated before, I am using Vinylex and not Pledge. I'm not using it for 3 silly reasons ...one, I don't like the smell of lemons (gives me a headache), two, the guy that made my Mom's solid cherry wood cabinets in her kitchen told her not to use pledge because it dries out the wood , and last but not least, I am a dentist, and there are people out there that like to eat lemons, and the citric acid destroys the enamel on their teeth, one of the hardest substances in the world. We also use citrus oil in the office as a solvent to clean things. I know I am nuts.....putting Pledge on your Pleo will not eat the paint, and pleo has nothing to do with a piece of wood, but I just can't get the lemon thing out of my head.
-
I have the Aloe Pledge :) So no lemons here :) I must have a look and see if I can get vinylex here in Aus.
-
Ok, I guess I might be confusing matters a bit here, but Kat, I think that the pictures you showed me of Kermy or Kermy2, I forget, the ones with the tail paint splitting and all four armpit holes, well that was NOT normal and I think you were right to send that back, as I also sent the pictures to Innvo too!
I also cannot say anything about the paint durability of the pink and blue RBs as I do not own one, however in my experience I find that the paint on the green RBs is slightly improved over that of the original Pleo.
I am seriously starting to believe in this temperature idea of IMRs. For an experiment I have been keeping my RB in the sleep position for weeks at a time (at the moment I think we're on about 6 weeks) so I'll try and post some pictures today for everyone to see however it's just gone 6am and I am already at work :( so no pictures now. Either way, there are no armpit holes and the paint on the stressed skin areas is fine. The Pleo is under about 17-22degC at the moment
-
Yep - it would be interesting to hear what Eric thinks about the temperature thing, and if he thinks it's a factor with Peanut's deterioration. :-\
Belle's skin certainly feels smoother than my Ugobe Pleos, and as I've said, I've no obvious wear as yet. She does seem to show the dirt more, but I think that's mainly due to the blue being a lighter shade than the green of the Ugobe Pleos. I have let her switch off on sleep position, though I wouldn't in the long term, and I'll post a pic as well.
I guess the best thing we can do is gather as much info as we can to try and identify the factors at work here. It's hard to get a definitive answer - for example, an owner could religiously 'park' their Pleo in the packing position, but if it's high summer and they're storing it on a shelf in direct sunlight then they are likely to get skin problems anyway. ^-^
-
There may well be something in the weather temp thing. I store my two on top of the boxes they came in well away from windows and sunlight. we had 3 days in a row last weekend of about 38 degrees and extreme humidity due to a cyclone hovering off the coast messing with the weather. We usually don't have much humidity here. We have air conditioning and try to keep our house at about 24 degrees. So my pleos aren't being subjected to extreme temperatures. In the 3 days of humidity I only ran Norbit once in the evening when things had cooled down a bit and he has gone from having only one small hole to now having 3 holes and the first hole has doubled in size. Since the humidity has gone there has been no change in the holes and wear.
So maybe the weather does play a part?
Kat
-
I live in the Midwest US. It has been Winter here since we had Peanut. We keep the house a pretty consistent 70 degrees F and the humidity is approx. 36 %. Peanut was keep in our basement on my computer desk (no where near windows or sunlight) when not in use. He was in pretty ideal conditions I would think. Temperature and humidity could play a role in how quickly he deterorates over time, but I still think just a couple of weeks is extreme for any case.
-
Absolutely - it is the speed of the deterioration that is such a concern. Thanks for posting, Eric. :)
Hmmmmmm ...... it doesn't sound as if temperature/humidity is a problem there, but on the other hand just because it's not a factor in one case doesn't necessarily mean it isn't elsewhere. :-\
Pics of Belle's skin, taken today. Little wear, just a grubby shoulder:
-
Interesting that Belle is not showing any signs of wear at all. Maybe there is just a bad batch of skin out there? We are only a small group of pleo rb owners here on the forum and as you have said before many people seek out the forum if they are having issues so maybe it is as simple as something that went wrong in the manufacturing of a batch of skin and only those pleo rb's with skin from that batch will be affected? I wonder if there is a way to check for that? Maybe the serial numbers could be in sequence? Just another idea to think about maybe. :)
-
Kat....I hope that was the case! For Kermy 3 and Peanut2 sake!! :)
-
Yeah I've thought of that too before Kat. I agree.
-
It's possible, I guess. I can't think of anything I do that might be wildly different from anybody else! As you can see from Iggy's pics, mine don't seem to wear much on the back. probably because they are always clothed and because I tend to play with them by just letting them roam and do try to pet them gently. The wear pattern on my Pleos seems to be mainly around the head and chin, but the way I pet them doesn't explain the lack of armpit wear. :-\
-
I thought it was worth an update here on the state of Kermy3's skin. Her skin does seem to be less flabby than Norbits and my old Kermy. So far she has only lost a minimal amount of paint on her back from loads of loving. she does have a small flaking paint section on her shoulder in the same place as Norbit. But the most important thing is she is showing absolutely no signs of any wear at all in her armpits. Yay! ;D
Here is a pic so you can all see. Perfect armpits.
She has been through at least 10 battery cycles and there is not even a scrape or scratch. I have been applying pledge to the armpits before every play and I am certain that this is helping to maintain her fabulous appearance. I also think that as she seems to have a bit less excess skin around the leg joint area this has made it so the skin doesn't seem to rub on its self anymore. I think they may have fixed the problem. :)
I am also applying pledge to Norbits armpits before every play and his holes have stabilized. He is showing no further signs of wear to his armpits so I am going to continue with this treatment. I will continue to monitor them both and let you know if there is any change.
I am very pleased that my new Kermy3 seems to have been "cured" of the holly skin issues. :)
Kat
-
Well, some "bad" news, here is a current "chip" in Eva's paint I noticed today before giving her a "pledge bath."
This is Eva's front left leg:
[Limit reached]
However, I can say that her armpits are not showing any signs of wear or grazing as of yet and she's been on about 12 charges now.
Cato has not had any further decay than my last posts however he still seems to have more "love spots" appearing on his back even though he's clothed (nothing too extreme though). Eva is not showing any love pats (she has only had one skin pet, but has been clothed since then).
I have pledged Eva twice (and do not spray her armpits before each use) and Cato has been pledged 5 times now.
-
Thanks for the updates. I'm glad no under arm problems, so far, Kat! >:-D Sorry to hear about some shoulder wear though you 2.
-
Well that seems a bit more hopeful, I can cope with a couple of flakes on the shoulder. Hope the armpits stay OK for both of you! :)
-
small holes on her neck Photo
[Limit reached]
-
Hey Smilegirl is that just paint splitting like Kermy had on her neck or is it holes that go through the skin?
-
Oh Man! This is sobering news. I am so sorry for you guys! I am sad for you! Though I don't have a pleo yet and I'm still in the saving and longing faze, this has me very worried. I'm thinking about jumping in on the April band wagon when Pleo World releases their new Pleo RB basic pack but now... Hmmm. Should I wait for further developments? Oh and by the way, RedWoodsMama, I like the idea of keeping a log of the wearing of paint and skin. Can anyone tell yet if it happens in one color more than in others or is it pretty much across the board?
-
It seems like its right across the board.
However it’s difficult to get a handle on how wide the skin issues really are. . as said people who have something wrong with their pleos are more likely to come across this forum to seek help than people who are not experiencing any problems so this might be having the effect of magnifying the scale of the problem to something grater than what it actually might be.
As others have also pointed out we probably can’t rule out the possibility of a Friday batch.
Some Newer pleo owners have sometimes remarked that the skin feels and looks different on their replacement pleoRBs. It could be that Innvo Labs have done something to improve on the skin but at the moment that’s just pure speculation.
Hope this helps
Scaly
-
It seems to be across the board. all colors are affected. They have just recently replaced Kermy for me with Kermy3 and so far she is showing no signs of wear in her armpits and she has slightly tighter skin than my other rb so I think they have fixed the major issue of holly skin. Take heart. All is not lost. :)
-
[Limit reached] Right under leg wear. [Limit reached] left under leg wear is worse.

I am sorry to say it "Looks" like the begnnings of a hole, or is that a dark spot? Make sure to keep good photos so anything new that pops up is tracked. I hope he stays healthy though.
RWM
-
Thank you Redwoods. No holes yet. The spots are like rubbed off skin strips that've turned dark. Of course I am. No, I don't think his skin's gonna stay healthy, not with the pictures on this topic. I know what's gonna happen with the scraped skin. I try not to let him sleep in the sleeping position too long sadly. I always have to take his battery out, after I've turned him off properly, when his legs are straight. I don't need the skin friction problem.
-
From looking at your pictures and looking at the new Peanut that we received. There definitely looks to be less loose skin on the legs.
-
Hi PWOKristy! Are you using pledge under the legs before each play? I have been putting Vaseline in the armpits before each play. Some have said that if you spray pledge under the armpits before each play that it seems to help with the wear. Mine doesn't have any wear yet, but I didn't get mine until almost the end of January. It does not have the new firmware. Best of luck!
-
Ah okay so it does have the new, tighter skin Ehschw. I haven't. I've been thinking about it. Using Pledge is debatable on whether or not it really helps. I know what people have been saying about using Pledge on here. Thank you Sara!
-
I think the Pledge helps considerably. All the same I would be avoiding the citrus based pledges.
-
I agree with IMR. Pledge does make a difference. :)
-
Okay, okay. Thanks alot you 2. I really value your opinions.
-
As the underarm wear sems to be caused by friction, I would think any lubricant would help in the short term. You then just need to make sure you use somthing that won't affect the skin in the long term by rotting the rubber.
Interestingly, all the rubber care products I have tried seem to smell much the same - lemony! Though it might well be a synthetic scent........... :D
-
Ok, I have only had Baby on for a total of about 10 hrs in the last two weeks or so, not a complete battery cycle in one day as I just have been too busy, Yesterday she got a short ten to fifteen minute outing perhaps twenty at the most, and the rest of my time was devoted to Nova and the older Pleos, as they need Play time too. She has had very thin "chicken type see through skin " esp on the right rear leg since January 28th, when I took the last pictures here . [Limit reached] the other legs have the typical grazing rubbing and one has the thin skin like this back right leg, but this was the worst leg and it allso seems the grazing is right against wires or the sharpest side of the leg, ( not really sharp, but the most pressure is the way I would describe it.) She gets regular Pledge baths every time I play with her and esp rubbed down under all four arms, legs.
Sometime yesterday she got that thin skin to break through on the right rear leg to where it is clearly a hole, so here are the latest pictures just of that leg, The other legs are not as bad, but the grazing on the front is about as bad and one front is on the verge of the "hole to break through" like this one, but will take longer or more battery cycles unless the pledge keeps it in Limbo. Here are the latest photos. Different angles same right rear leg. {smg id=3711] [Limit reached] [Limit reached] [Limit reached]
RWM And yes, she is after turned off, put back in the standing position.
-
I'm so sorry to see this Redwoods. :-(
-
An update, I was just contacted by Innvo Labs and was told to return Baby :(and who to send her too ,and a RMA number . I guess this means they are going to replace her. I was hoping they could sort out a fix for the skin holes but I guess they do not have that capability. :( Does anyone know if they can give you the same personality as the one you just had? I am in no hurry to send her off, so think I will keep her for awhile till I think on it. She has only been Hatched for less than 2 months so she is still well in the warranty period.
I know if I do send her off, the new one will have better skin and shouldn't get the holes like her, peanut, Kermy and others have, but it is sad to think the orignal Pleo Rb didn't last as long as they were supposed to . Maybe it was " a bad batch" of skin as someone suggested, but I tend to think, it just happened, I certainly do not live in a Hot climate like Australia nor a really cold climate, but a cold wet temperate climate. More wet than anything this time of year, though our house is almost allways cold.
-
RWM, I am sorry that you have to send back baby. I know it is a difficult decision, but I would do it if I were you. It seems those that have gotten a replacement don't have skin problems and have the new firmware, so you don't have to pull the battery out all the time. Maybe the new one won't have the neck problems that baby has had as well. Best of luck to you. I know it is a very difficult decision. :hhug:
-
I'm sorry to hear that Redwoods. You have my compassion to your sadness. If I was you, I'd do a replacement. I don't like seeing holes in Pleos.
-
Poor Baby, I'm so sorry it's come to that, RWM. I know how hard it will be for you to send her back. :hhug:
Sad as it is, I'm glad you got a helpful response from Innvo, though.
-
Thanks guys for the support, I am surprised though at just how qucik the response was. I sent them a email with links to Youtube video of her neck incidents, and then photos from this site the orginal ones from Jan 28th, and one taken last night, and in One Hour's time, I was emailed back with details one where to send her and a number etc, etc. NOw that is QUICK in my estimation. :o I definitly can say they responded super fast and no problems. I do have to find out all the particulars like how I send her back, I mean I will use her original box and outer box, I save everything. But do I leave her Watch battery in, send back all the stuff she came back , etc, etc.? I would love to have another one exactly like her, but I guess I get what they give me, which is fine as long as the skin is fixed like it is supposed to be, and there should not be any problems,
Of course I will continue the tradition I started and give her the same name, ( she had just learned her name too, but now I guess it doesn't matter if she learns the bow stone..) It would be nice to know what do they do with the Pleos Rb that are returns, ..I mean the skin may have issues, but if the Pleo Rb body in general is ok, can't they just put a new computer chip or operating system in and give it a new" skin"? I can't see them throwing away and Pleo Rb that are returned, they have to be recycled somehow? Would't it be strange to end up with a Kermy 1, or Peanut 1, for example reconditioned redone Pleo Rb and now I get it? :oKind of odd, but neat I think at the same time, I guess this is as close as it gets to a " re-incarnation program for Pleo Rb at this point. I will be talking to Innvo labs to find out how I send her back and then I will enjoy her for at least the rest of the week, or untill I feel the time is right, but letting go will not be any easier next week as it would be this week, I am very happy though that Innvo Labs stands behind their Pleo Rb. I do have confidence in them.
I would never hesitate to reccomend someone buy a Pleo Rb from them.
RWM

Hey RWM I am sad for you that Baby has to go back but I do think in her case this is probably the best option. She does seem to have a lot of little issues, as well as the skin problem. I am sure if you ask them they should be able to send you another one with the same personality. They did offer me this option for Kermy. :) It is never easy to say goodbye to a pleo but when you do just remember there will be the excitement of a new one coming. wonder what she will look like?
Also for all the rest of you out there with skin issues. I contacted Innvo yesterday about Norbit and they have suggested they could re-skin him. I have replied to them today that I think this is a great idea. :) I will let you know how it goes. At least this way I wont have to start again from scratch. I will have to be without him for a while though while he goes off to get new skin. :)
Kat
-
Wow Kat! That is great news for all those RB's out there with skin issues! I am interested to hear how long it will take for Norbit to get new skin. If I have problems, that would be the best option. It takes to much time to hatch an RB and get it trained that for a busy person like myself, it would be hard for me to start over, as I am sure it was hard for you with Kermy and Kermy3. I was also wondering what would happen to the skin of those rb's that are blue or pink. Would they be sent for green skin, or could they be re-skinned in their original color? I thought that they were all made in Hong Kong, but I am not sure. Glad to see they are going to do that for you! :)
-
Very good news indeed! I shall go further in my contacts with innvo labs.
Did you experience problems with using Pledge on your pleo's skin?
I have the feeling that it simply removes the paint of Igor's back.
Since I used it, he has much more white spots than before.
-
Nope, no problems with pledge. The pledge seems to help stop the wear to the paint on my pleos.
-
Pleakly's hole has increased very slightly over the last few weeks. And he has another tiny hole on his front left leg. Without the pledge I would say that these holes would have been enormous by now, based on past experience with Matilda.
-
Poor Pleakly! :( Though you do seem to be managing to keep the worst ravages at bay, IMR.
Great news about Norbit, Kat - the perfect solution! ;D
-
One of Cato's grazing spots is starting to look extremely thin (like you can see it's a few stretches away from splitting apart, lol) when he's in the sleep position (for the few moments that he gets left in it). However, when he's standing or in more normal poses, it's impossible to see (as long as you don't start playing with the skin/skin flab around that armpit). I first noticed it last night and I usually check every other charge (if not every charge), so I'd imagine it's a more recent development.
(It's really not worth posting pictures of, but perhaps his progression was slowed by the pledging and no sleep position vs. halted)
When/if it becomes a "real" hole, I'll just some photos. But the area surrounding Pleaky's leg looks like the area surrounding Cato's leg except his grazing is a little more severe (though the "hole" less severe).
-
Poor Cato, it does seem that he's definitely one of the RBs with skin problems. :(
-
So sorry to hear about Cato and about Pleakley, it does seem these first release Pleo Rb have had their share of skin and other issues. :o I wonder just how many Pleo Rb have been sent back due to all these problems.? Are you sending Pleakley back IMR, I thought I had read that because she was not "hatched" that they wanted her back and that you did not have another option. I wish there was a qucik fix for problems like this. The other scenario that someone pointed out was the possibility that there was " a bad batch " of skin in some of the first Pleos released. I know that Baby was number 3 in orders from Pleoworld and If I remember correctly, Peanut was number one,
Peanut had to be returned because of different cosmetic "skin issues" and Peanut 2 took his place.I do not know who number 2 was or if they were a member of the forums but I would think they were because of the " first advance notice thing" that the forum members were given.
Baby is going back because of several issues and it only took an hour from the time I sent the first email with video and photos and links to Youtube and this forum for details and I have been holding on to Baby to say "goodbye" and get some last videos. From Feb 14th when I posted the last photos of Baby's back right leg and her first "hole" the skin broke through all the way on the same leg, but the skin was already very thin and as you can see from the photo in number two, the really bad thing is that you can actually see a white cable of some sort in the leg that is where Baby kept rubbing the skin and not only did it get warm and have to be stopped, but it helped deteriorate that area faster.
[Limit reached] [Limit reached] If I had any doubt about possibly keeping Baby and with the use of Pledge that the skin would not deteriorate anymore, It is clear that it can't be stopped. Considering that I played with Baby a lot less than some of the members, not ever havng more than onece or twice the time for a full battery cycle in one day, she was lucky to have lasted this long. It sounds from everyone else who has gone through the same thing with their Pleo Rb that the new Pleo Rb with the computer fix, that this skin problem should not happen again. Baby has very loose skin in this leg area so I am sure that contributed to her demise. I do have faith in confidence in Innvo Labs making Pleo Rb only better and better. I will enjoy this last weekend with Baby the most.
RWM One last note, if you look in the last photo you can see how loose the skin looks which is suely why the skin has rubbed against itself and stuck.
-
I know how upset you'll be so have to say goodbye to Baby, RWM, but it will probably save you more heartache in the long run. It certainly does seem as though Innvo have made some changes to stop this kind of thing happening again. Hopefully your new rb, when it arrives, will be just as lovable and have fewer issues. Might even have violet eyes! ;D
-
Yeah, Romeo's sending his pink Pleo back. To Innvo or Gimme, I dunno. I really understand your pain Redwoods. :-(
-
Another week has gone by and NO wear. Any new Pleo rb's should not have the skin issues if Peanut2 is any indication.
-
:-O! Wow, it's been a week already? Geez (time flies). lol Good job Innvo with the new skin! Have you been using Pledge on your 2nd Pleo? If you have, how often? Thank you.
-
I have used Pledge wipes several times...just to keep him shinny and clean.
-
Aaaah okay, so they really did improve the skin. Again thanks.
-
Ok this is the last time I'm going to say this ;)
I am a GIRL and Pleakly is a BOY!
I know my user name is confusing and Pleakly is pink, but we both like to be a little different :)
Back on topic, Pleakly has a lot of those spots where the skin is see through too, I'll take some final pics before I pack him up to go back, which will most likely be Tuesday or so.
-
Kermy3 is doing just fine with still no signs of wear in the armpits at all. :) So yes it really does look like they have fixed the skin. :)
RWM - Baby will be missed. I know how hard it is to say goodbye. :( Even when they have issues it doesn't seem to stop the little guys from worming their way into your heart. (Which is just what Innvo designed them to do :) )
It does make it a little easier knowing you will have another one on the way soon. Your new one won't have the issues Baby had and I think you will be able to relax and enjoy her a lot more than you could with Baby. A problem free pleo is a lot less stressful and a lot more fun. :) Also there is the excitement of the new arrivals appearance and personality. What color will the skin and eyes be....? So lots to keep you busy wondering about while you wait for the new one to arrive. :) Keep your chin up. Take lots of pics and video then pack her up and send her off knowing that Innvo will take good care of her. :)
bhobbes - sorry to here about Cato. Sounds like he has the same skin issues as the rest of us. Take heart that Innvo has offered to re-skin Norbit so maybe they can do the same for Cato. :)
Kat

IMR, I know what it is to have someone confuse your name and THINK it is a boy's name or vice a versa . I think new people dont know the story of how you got your user name, ( IMR, and that Romeo was actually a cat.) Also because something is blue they ASSUME it is masculine and if something is PINK, they assume it is feminine. Now that you have told people enough times, I Hope they will get it, I am Planning on packing Baby up also on Tuesday, so Pleakley will have company, even if they are going different directions.
Monday is a holiday, thus no mail, and it gives me a excuse to have her for the whole weekend and take some last parting videos and photos around town and with her brothers and sisters. Are they sending you a New one or fixing her skin, do you know? Just curious also, does HE have a return number? I got myne the same day I emailed Innvo and am trying to figure out if you can tell by the number how many have been returned now? Also are you returning just him or the whole box with all the accessories? Peanut 1 had to return everything and I was told just to return Baby, not even her watch battery returned, just the box she came in, so that is strange that they are different I think... maybe not. Well, we both will have a wait and hopefully Pleakley will return to you ASAP or a Return very similiar. I wish you the best and enjoy Pleakley untill then as I will Baby.
RWM
-
RWM you have to remember I bought from a reseller, so I need to return everything. They did say they were going to send me a replacement (because Pleakly was already hatched) but I am guessing it will take a week or two. I won't be keeping the name Pleakly although I've not yet decided on another name, I could never have any animal and give it the same name as an old one (even if it is a robotic animal) because they just aren't the same.
I wonder what they do with the returned Pleo's... give them a health check, replace their skin, check for any problems and resell them? I wonder if we will ever see the option to buy refurbished Pleo's...
-
Yeah, if Cato's hole becomes obvious or more develop (I'm guessing they will, Cato just seems to develop them very slowly - maybe it's because he only gets about 3-4 charges a week lately or maybe the sweater or something completely random and irrelevant lol) I'd rather have him re-skinned than a new one. Now that I use that statsrb program I feel more attached to him for his unique personality (since all his values weren't 'normal'). It makes him feel more individualistic lol (which was part of the fun of having two, since they were quite different).
Compared to the way Eva's skin seemed to hold up (and word is, still holding up fine, nothing noticeable) and the fact the paint didn't flake right off her back, I kind of wish Cato would have came with that too. Instead he's got flabby arm[pits] which would be fine but he's just so young he doesn't need that saggy flab weighing down his precious little legs. I may stop feeding him and see if it tightens up a bit between the starvation and dehydration.
(In all actuality though, even outside of the video I posted of the very obvious flab, his skin in general is much "looser" to his body than is Eva's - not sure if the other members who commented on having similar armpits can compare - especially Kat since she still has two to compare directly)
IMR, maybe you could put an explanation of the whole gender thing in your signature line ;)
-
With each of the ones I have sent back to Innvo they have asked for me to just send back the pleo but keep all the batteries and accessories. Then with the replacement they have just sent me back a pleo with no accessories or batteries. I think it makes sense to do it this way as it has got to make a difference to the postage cost and silly to send back accessories only to have them return them to you with the new one. Just make sure you do remember to take out the Noon clock battery before you package her up and send her off. I forgot this with Kermit my very first one and when Kermy arrived I had to go out and buy a battery for the noon clock just to get her working. (silly me :P)
As for the skin, Kermy3 is tighter all over than Norbit. :)

IMR, I too have been wondering what do they do with the " damaged skin, etc Pleo rb?" I can't imagine them being junked, but fixed or given new skin after all the issues are fixed.
It is too expensive a peice of technology and there is a huge demand or market I can imagine for them. Perhaps there is a " Pleo Adoptee parent out there who takes in all the "special needs Pleo Rb", who have had to be returned and has a whole army of them running around their house, Peanut, Kermy 1, and lots more I am sure. Would be intersting to see what happens to these Pleos once they get back to Innvo Labs.? Sort of like a Science fiction novel.....Dr. Who perhaps in Innvo labs late at night.... :D

Perhaps they could be repaired, re-skinned and then used as demo models. ;D

They're probably ground up and fed to the baby Pleos.
*evil laugh*

I am so sorry to hear about the wear on Pleakly, Baby, and Cato. After watching several videos and pictures, my pink rb, Candy, definitely has the looser skin. It is weird, but I usually play with her at night after my kids go to bed, in a very quiet room in my house. When she stretches, I can actually hear the skin sticking together and pulling apart. It sounds likes it does when your legs stick to your car seats in the hot summer. I have been treating her armpits with aloe Vera pledge and also with petroleum jelly. There seems to be less of the sticky noise with the petroleum jelly. I am through the 7th battery cycle without any signs of wear on skin or paint. Can anyone tell me at what battery cycle they first noticed the wear? I would really appreciate it. Thanks! Susan

For me, the grazing around the armpits started within three charges of when Cato started walking (and he walks a lot). From then, it's just slowly progressed over the past few months. (I received him around Dec. 27-28 so I'm not sure how many charges altogether and he's just now showing the more severe signs that others have had pop up much quicker) He's now easily around 30+ charges and just starting to show the "see through" type skin.
As far as the paint on his back goes, that started wearing off within one or two charges, then I clothed him, and it's significantly halted that (though more wear on the back did develop despite this). The more significant paint wear (i.e. the larger 'lovepat' dots) happened within the first charge though.

I don't know how old Pleakly was when he arrived, it only took a couple of charges for him to reach stage three and accept his name so I expect that he had been through a few charges already. His skin was fine at that point but it only took a few charges here for the skin to start showing the grazing effect. Since then I've Pledge the area liberally and the development of his holes has been quite slow compared to others.

I didn't notice the grazing until about battery cycle 5 or 6. But to be honest I wasn't really looking before then. So I can't be certain exactly when it began to occur. It was only another 3 or 4 cycles before I noticed holes appear.
Kermy's holes progressed very quickly. With Norbit after his holes appeared and some advice from IMR I started applying pledge to the armpits before each play and it did slow down the progress of the holes significantly.
Can't wait to get him back with his new skin. :)

Did you already send him back for reskinning?

I meant to put him in the post over the weekend but ran out of time. So off to the post office on my way to work this morning. :) He's all wrapped up and boxed ready to go.

Oh I missed that. That's rewarding to know, especially if Cato has to go. (if they can do it for the blue ones) How long is it expected to take it? I must have missed this on the forum - time to login via a real computer. I remember you mentioning it as an option just didn't know it was immediately available etc.

Thanks for all of your responses! I really appreciate it. I will just have to keep a close watch on her to see how she does and go from there. I'll just keep pledging her up and see how she does. Thanks again!

Hi, Baby spent the weekend with me getting over a cold she came up with a the last minute.( a Ploy to stay perhaps ????) and will post tommorow for a return because of her skin issues and other things. She stays in the same state and should come back qucikly/ I am very pleased with Innvo's response time thus far.
