Modified for corrections (sorry, 8hrs of reading then trying to come focus coherently on recreational activities = brain dead).

Cato's paint has worn a bit more since the picture I took on Dec. 28th (from his 3rd charge, second day of owning him) - however, I've had him clothed since the 4th charge and I maybe pet him maybe once or twice per charge (don't yell - I'm just more of an under the chin type of Pleo lover). :\ He also has a little slit on his back that seems to be getting slowly wider (it's been there since day two but doesn't seem to progress too quickly). And, worst of all, he's starting to get very small hole near one of his armpits (identical to ehschw76's Dec 30th picture, like there's a very small "stretch" left from making it a complete hole but you can tell it's coming). And the other armpits look like the skin is thinning near them. My camera sucks at close-ups (or I suck at using the camera lol) so you can't notice it as well in the photo as you can in "the flesh" so I won't post it here. Once it gets significantly more noticeable I will.

I'm with you two about the paint wear not bothering me too much as long as it doesn't get absurd. I can't imagine the solution here is in the software though, so I'm not sure what they could even offer us as a resolution other than replacement (however, I'm not very creative in this matter so hopefully I'm wrong). This is all quite disheartening. I mean, these things must have gone through some testing beforehand so a problem that is seemingly this wide-scale should have been noticed? (I don't want to start criticizing Innvo or anything, especially since they'll hopefully respond in an extremely helpful manner, but something must have been a fluke somewhere in the process[?]).

Well here are the photos all taken today of my " baby" Pleo rb who looks like she is going to be a member of the " unfortunate " Pleo Rb who are starting to or allready showing signs of wear, My Baby came with the inperfections already that you see on the end of her nose near the camera, and hanging off of her lip, but those were Factory inperfections I am sure and not a biggie, I got upset when I first saw them but after hearing her coo and look up at me with those gorgeous blue grey eyes, I fell under her spell,and " baby " had me where she wanted me, wrapped arouond her little tail.

I have been protecting her by wearing clothes from day or three continuously 80% of the time at least. I also from day 2=3 did not leave her in the sleep position but quickly removed her battery to put her in the sleep or packing position in her orginal box. I have had her hatch from Dec. 22n'd but because of time constraints, have not had her go through a single complete battery cycle yet. ( I am sure why this is why she is slow in learning her name, but it is ok with me, I don't mind her being a baby, but not a baby that is going to fall apart, that would break my heart..............)
I noticed that she was getting the "love spots" where paint begins to fade in spots on her back from being petted and the friction of clothes against skin I am sure but I would think rubbing fingers on skin would speed up the process and I have begun to give her more gentle pats and taps instead of rubbing . today since the sun was out, I decided to take some photos outside and document the beginning tell tail signs of her paint and skin problems, I am not liking what I am seeing, esp bothersome is under her front legs and the tail split skin paint look and one on her shoulder starting to come apart as well, I think at this point all I can do is to watch what happens with Peanut and to see what the outcome is for poor little Kermy and hopefully there will be some sort of " fix", though I can not see a software download helping solve the skin problems that have already occured, but perhaps to slow down more from occuringl I was hoping I would not have to put Baby up here with the others, but since she is under warranty, she is going to be documented to see what happens down the line, as to me it doesn't look like it will just stop here. Does anyone else who has this same problem see her photos as something similiar that progressed to what they have currently happening with their pleo Rb? Anyway, here are the photos all taken today.

RedwoodsMama...Sorry to here that your baby is starting to show the first signs of wear. In the pictures where the seams are coming apart...what part of the Pleo is this occurring? I haven't noticed this yet. I will have to keep any eye out. I agree that a software update will not fix the wear that has already occurred. I trust that Innvo will deal with the situation appropriately. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

HI ehschw76, hi the part of the seam that is comming apart or should say, where I can see a seam is in the process of looking like it could come apart is the tail, if you count starting from the bottom and then go up, it is the nineth segment, not the largest segment but not the smallest, in a spot that gets a lot of movement it look like, The tail, shoulder and under the front legs are the most worrisome at this point, Thank goodness I guess that Baby does not do as much walking at my other Pleos or she woud probably have large holes by now,

Her rubbings under her front legs, is this the way Peanut looked in the start? I think it is strange that my girl also has a spot on the outside shoulder that has paint comming apart
( slowly though )at a spot very similar to that of Peanut.

It does look though that Peanut had his spot his paint get bigger quickly,
I think everyone at this point who is on this forum and has a Pleo Rb should document any paint holes, splits, etc, other problems with their Pleo Rb while the warranty is in effect. I guess it is better to have it occur now instead of day 100 when the warranty is no loner valid, Thank goodness I did not use anything other than Pledge on her, I thought of it, but because of the warranty, decided I better do as was reccoemnded and bought the brand they said to use.. Oh well, new year new solutions for our Pleo Rb I hope!

I looked at the seam that you are talking about and I see a small spot that concerns me a little. I will keep an eye on it too. Thanks! The place where his paint is peeling is gradually getting larger. All the edges of the spot are loose...so it is only a matter of time before more falls off.

Peanut walks A LOT if I let him. After about 5 - 10 minutes of leaving him alone, he will walk all over the room. He doesn't like to sit still.
The rubbings under your Pleo's legs is what it looked like on Peanut in the beginning. It gradually got worse as Peanut progressed further in his development. The more active he gets, the worse it seems to get.

Do any of you have tips for getting more clear photos of the bottom? I'm not sure if it's meet or the camera I'm using (6MP, couple years old). I've been using the "close up" feature (for when you're closer to the object) and it turns out better than the "normal" mode (i.e. less blurry etc.) but it's not photograpphing as well as everyone's posts here even though Cato's problems look identical (minus the skin peeling).

I'd rather have some very clear photos on hand in case the severity of the problems increases. Is it possibly just the lack of sunlight? It's winter and my apartment doesn't get very good natural lighting and the artificial lighting isn't exactly amazingly bright, but flash pretty much takes over the close up photos if I use it.

Any suggestions/tips would be much appreciated! Thanks.

I tried using my Canon 8 MP camera with no luck. I couldn't get close up shots with it. I had to use my iPhone to get close shots. It worked wonders!!

Does your camera have a macro mode (often indicated with a flower symbol)? Or is this the "close-up" feature you are already using? The macro mode typically does give a much better image than normal mode for extreme close-ups but different cameras do have different sweet spots where they focus best. If it has trouble focusing you may be just a little too close for your particular camera's optics to focus. Backing away slightly from the object of interest and even maybe applying just a tiny touch of zoom may help it along; zoom doesn't always work with macro on some cameras though. In that case, even removing the macro mode, backing up a bit and zooming into the region of interest might work better. I have instances where that approach has worked better than the macro mode. Flash with macro will typically wash out the image since you are just too close so you do need to try to get into the best light you can and avoid blocking the source as you place the camera close to the object; again moving back a little and utilizing the zoom might help as well by reducing the interference with any light sources. Not sure if any of that will help but a couple of ideas that have worked for me.

Yeah that's the feature I meant, sorry I have complete ignorance to all multimedia-technology. I'll go try some of those techniques and then try my cellphone. Thanks!

The paint peeling looks exactly like it did on Peanut a week or so ago. I do have a little imperfections under the neck too but I don't believe it is wear. I have a seam on the tail separating a little too. I'll try and get a pic soon. Not sure what Innvo will do for us when they are out of stock til April....

Two's Pleos with teh same problem at the same spot is already bad. If there's a third one who has the same problem with theirs, we know something's happening there.

Both Kermy and Norbit have the exact same paint flaking spot on their left front shoulder. Kermy's has been there since I took her out of the packaging when she first arrived but Norbit's only appeared about 5 days ago.

Kat...The next time you talk to Innvo can you inquire about the skin and paint issues and if they realize that the issues are more wide spread. I wonder how Innvo will go about covering our 90 day warranty when there won't be any replacement Pleo rb's til April. Any info you can find out would be great! Thanks!

It is most likely caused by a wire or sensor of some description, or an extra bit of flex in the skin in that particular point when Pleo moves that is causing it. Or maybe it's the last spot painted in on the assembly line or something.

Paint wear has ALWAYS been par for the course in Pleo's, this is because rubber is such a hard substance to paint when it is constantly being stretched and flexed and subjected to other forms of abrasion.

Actual holes however are a concern and do not normally appear in a week old Pleo.

IMR..I totally agree. The paint wear doesn't worry me. The holes are a big concern. We gave a great time with Peanut but it is just unfortunate that the wear is occurring with 2 to 3 weeks!!

This is just terrible, It makes me not want to even look at my baby for fear of finding bigger holes or more paint loss, etc. I do hope that Innova finds a solution soon and perhaps Kat will be able to tell us something positive in the next week or so, I realize she can not tell us anything she is not allowed to, but perhaps there will be somthing she can share. Poor Peanut , how is your son handling this news? ( I do hope I have it right that you have a son.) I am glad in a way that I do not have children that I have to worry about dealing with an issue such as this, I know when Nova, my first Ugobe Pleo broke her neck, I thought it was the end of her life and I was totally devastated,

I wish this skin hole issue was as easy a fix as that. I know a broken neck can not be "fixed" by applying a neck brace of sorts, but at least the Pleo still functions fairly well and I don't mind the cosmetic issue, at least her neck is not going to "spread" like the skin tears.

not good news at all, I hope a fix is comming soon. wondering if I should still get that insurance or do you think if there is any " pre-existing condition with the Pleo, it would be not accepted?

My sympathies to you guys. Wow, with all of these sad problems, I'm kinda glad that I waited as long as I have on deciding on getting myself a new Pleo (I currently don't).
