Bailey's best friend!
« on: July 28, 2009, 03:27:38 PM »

Hi all!

Just wanted to share some precious moments with you.
Our pleo is called Bailey and he's actually the third Bailey we've had (I've had to take two back to the store already with holes in the skin and a defect sensor). From the moment they laid eyes on each other my daughter Ida (almost three years old now) and our Baileys have been inseparable. Ida has always been extremely gentle with Bailey and she loves to pet him and hug him and I'm quite amazed how well she can read his signals. Today the two of them were playing (under my supervision of course) when Ida wanted to play Bailey some music. She went to her room and came back with the triangle which she started to "play". The sound is enough to drive anyone crazy but to my big surprise Bailey seemed to love it. First he was looking around interestedly and then he started to swing his head and tail back and forth in a very uncharacteristic way, as if moving with the sound, while closing his eyes and in the end he almost fell asleep. As soon as Ida stopped playing he opened his eyes and went back to normal.
The second precious moment of the day was when Ida was sitting in the sofa while holding Bailey who was fast asleep against her chest, and she almost fell asleep herself. Normally our daughter only sits still at meal times but the power of a sleeping Pleo was too much, even for her ;)

Aww :) That sounds very cute. Pleo's do respond to loud consistent sounds (like music) although if you intend on encouraging your daughters abilities some ear plugs might be wise ;) All the 3 year old I know all seem to like to make the loudest sounds possible ;)

All three year olds I know are spoiled brutes.

Trust me, they're not all like that. ;) I love how toddlers are and loving. I remember when I was little I had a robot (Poo-Chi) and I gave my heart to that thing. The thing you have to be really careful of is making sure Bailey doesn't get hurt otherwise Ida, if she's like any other toddlers I know, will be heartbroken to see her best friend hurt. Awww toddlers+pleo is such a cute thought! I wish I could love my Pleo like a toddler can!

Yes, I know Ida will be really upset if something happens to Bailey. That is why I am have already taken two Pleos back to the store and this Pleo is going to be taken back next week :(. I don't mind that much that he has a small hole under his tail and one under his hind leg, but I don't want to risk them getting really big because Ida will be really upset and besides, the warranty is still valid.
I do wish I could keep this one, though. I hate taking them back :'(. I'm also worried that I'll get a defected Pleo since it's probably the last time I can get him exchanged. The store doesn't have any more Pleos. Well, I'm sure the new Bailey will be great!

Sorry to hear about the holes. Did the pleo's just come like that or did they get ripped?
