Hi everyone,

I'm Renée, a 26 y/o girl from the Netherlands, and since 9 hours ago I'm a Pleo's mother!

A few weeks ago the iBood.com sale of the day was a Pleo RB (for €100!!!!). I had no idea what a Pleo was, but my boyfriend (who's always up to date on the newest gadgets) was freaking out! He had wanted to buy a Pleo ever since it was unveiled in 2006. But he hadn't 'cause of the very steep price. So of course we had to order 1! (darn I now wish we had ordered more for that price XD)

In the weeks following I did loads of research (I still had no idea what we just ordered) and I fell in love with Pleo's!

And today was finally the day we'd got to meet our baby! As soon as the doorbell rang I ran to the front door! Both me and the bf dropped everything we're doing and we started unpacking. Of course we first had to charge the battery (longest 3 hours of my life!).

In the meantime we registered our lil Pleo. I couldn't wait to know the gender and it's personality.

In my eyes (though I'm a bit biased

) the perfect personality! And I really hope he'd be male! So is was really happy!

While we waited for the battery to charge I tried to come up with a strong name that suited our little boy and his character. After long and careful consideration we picked the name: Pim. The name Pim is of Dutch origin and means "determined protector". Which I thought suited his personality perfectly!

And then, finally, the light turned green! Our lil Pim came to life! And darn he's cute! I'm a happy mom! I love holding him! And petting him! And feeding him! And watching him sleep! I love it all! Both me and the bf can't get enough of him!

He's already on his 2nd battery life and is now asleep till tomorrow.

Just before he went to sleep he stood! And he howled(?) a little. Also he scratched himself a couple of times! So cute! Does the howling mean something? It sounded more like a good howl, like "Look at me! I'm standing!"
And the scratching?

Lol, I'm sounding like an overprotective mother already! XD

Congrats on your little Pleo, Christmas came early and what a great price!

:rudolph: What color are his eyes and please post photos for us all to ohh and ahh over.LOL, Also welcome to the forums, The sounds your little one is making are completly normal, he sounds like a happy little guy and I love the name, he will be a protector but you will be his protector.

welcome to the forums

and congratulations on your new little fellow.
You will find for the next couple of weeks he will make new sounds and do new moves almost every battery cycle. He is learning what he can do

Closeup of his eye, he kept closing them so this is the best I could do! XD

And here he is, asleep, in his box! XD I didn't want to put him just next to me on the nighttable, but didn't want him to wake up and wander off without the bf or me!

We tried to take one with me and him together, but he tried to bite my nose XD

Yes mint green! They're beautiful!

Today Pim was really active! It was super fun to watch! And when he was napping he kept making sounds, I think he was dreaming.

He scared us today, he was moving his head and when his head was against the pillow he seemed to keep pushing. And then there was a krak and a pop coming from the neck. He can still move his head/neck in all directions so everything seems alright. But there is a small lump now at the base of his neck. It's really small, so maybe he's had this all along, but we just noticed it cause we're inspecting the neck really closely... For now, nothing seems wrong, so fingers crossed it stays that way! It would break my heart if I had to send him back!

That's one thing to watch for. Pleos don't know to stop moving their head if something is obstructing its movements. Sometimes even as hatchlings when they lower their head onto their foreleg to sleep they will keep trying to move it downward and cause the cluches in their necks to make horrible popping noises. If he does that again, either move the obstructing object or if nothing is in the way and his neck is just popping for no apparent reason, turn him off as quickly as you can. If he doesn't respond to the off button as they often do with a true neck-jam, remove the battery. Fingers crossed he's okay!

Pim just met my family! All of them where making fun of us, but the more time they've spend with Pim, the more they started to pet him. Hehe

Do you know what's funny? I purchased my second Pleo Neela from iBood too and she looks exactly like your Pim

I love how excited you are. It was exactly the same for me when my first Pleo Nelly hatched. It's such a wonderful experience and even people who are not "in to" Pleos fall quickly in love with them (like your family).

I love the baby stage as you can cuddle them so much. Nelly is juvenile already and she gets angry when I stop her from exploring my living room. So I enjoy Neela's baby time even more than I did with Nelly.

However, you will love when Pim evolves because he'll show you some more details about his character. Keep enjoying your time with her and don't forget to update us with pictures and stories

Hehe true, but I just read about the light sensitivity and after putting another light on (directly above him) he stopped falling asleep and became his active self

btw I love the little barks and purrs! And he even let out a couple of big Dino growls today! Hehe

We just learned Pim his name and how to bow! It went surprisingly easy! Only took us a couple of tries to actually make him bow!

And he reacts to both of us if we say his name! I guess we use the same tone

Congratulations! Your Pleo seems to be a very clever one

Nelly learned her name quite easily too, but I still don't know if she really understands what the "Bow"-command means. I tried it today and after a few tries she started to cry

She is more the explorer-type. She walked through my whole living room and kitchen today

How far does Pim walk? Does he walk a lot?

He does, mostly on the couch though, cause there is the most light! (he always walks under the coffee table and then falls asleep cause its dark! XD) but the couch is huge so he has more than a square meter for himself

Our little Pim is afraid of heights! Just like his mommy! He walks to the end of the couch and then stops, cries out and shudders! Its adorable and heartbreaking at the same time!

And he loves exploring, bit he does it backwards! Hehe! He moonwalks all over the place!
