IMR is right, It is not a typical "toy", but a very loveable realistic toy, or interactive life form or robot. The best thing you can do is have your parents watch some of the pleo videos that show what makes Pleo like a real pet in many ways, such as voice recognition, eating or it gets sick, learning tricks with it's learning stones, and it also has temperture recognition. If Pleo gets hot, he pants like a dog and will need the ice stone to cool him down, if he gets too cold, he shivers and can sneeze and act sick. One of the most realistic and sad, is if Pleo is injured, bumps it's leg, is accidently knocked over to the ground, off a coffee table for example, and you touch and injured leg, he screams and cries in pain, he will limp and be very sad to watch, You will have to nurse Pleo back to health with the rock salt stone. Pleo is a great way to prepare for a pet, to show pet responsibility or for a person who has allergies to a cat, dog or rabbit for example.
Your alternative, ( I do not know how old you are..)

is if you are old enough, to save some money from chores or errands you can do around the house to earn money and as hard as it sounds, to put away for buying your own Pleo Rb. If you get money for Christmas , Birthdays, etc, put it away for your dream of getting Pleo rb, or part of it. Sometimes you can find Pleo for about $350.00 or less . But if you want a brand new Pleo Rb, ( I would suggest do not buy a used Pleo Rb if you want the whole experience, birthing, etc.) then it could cost you with shipping upwards of $400.00. I am sure other members may have suggestions. but Pleo is classified as a "toy". It cost no more than a desktop computer, or an X boy or gaming system so decide what is most important and talk to your parents. I do think looking at videos of Pleo and his emotions and his learning stone capabilities will do more then just watching a cute Pleo being a pleo. Your parents need to see what makes Pleo different then a Furby for example, and Pleo cost a LOT More then any Furby! Good Luck.
