Problems with storing pleo/putting him in box to travel?
« on: August 12, 2013, 09:39:54 PM »

Hello again guys, sorry about my never-ending flow of questions. When I try to put pleo in his box that he came in (to travel), his tail looks like it's being bent at an awkward angle. Am I doing something wrong? If anyone knows about a video 'tutorial' on how to box a pleo, or at least a detailed description, that would be very helpful. :)

Thanks again to everyone on this forum for helping me out with so many questions! :D

Best wishes,
Will Smart

When you put your pleo rb back in the box the tail is a very tight fit and I find that it makes the tail have a slight bend  or kink in it.  As far as I am aware it hasn't caused any permanent damage to anyone's pleos.  I don't carry mine around in their boxes much.  Hope that helps.

I agree with Kat, the boxes are a tight fit for the tail. I store my pleos when off in the box, but only cause I have so many and it protects them, When I am out and about though, I carry Pleo in a bag of some sort, like you may use for a small dog, or something else. I can't imagine carrying Pleo Rb box on the plane or around with me, just too awkward, If you wanted to, you could put a soft towel or piece of material down for Pleo and remove the cardboard insert and not worry about the tail that way. Nothing is perfect, including their box.! ;)        RWM :cat-hug:

My lot have been stored in their boxes for months (with occassional outings) hasn't hurt them. (All the same can't wait to save for a house deposit so they can be proudly on display again).

Usually, Gina sleeps in her box everyday, yes you should be carefully for the tail and put it in the right position without stressing it

I used to have most of my pleos, or about twenty of them on display on some shelves my husband built, but I found it a little dangerous where I live, I leave them all in boxes now on the same shelf except two Rb who are set far back where they can't fall. Can you imagine living in Earthquake country like I do, having a big 7:0 shaker or more and having a whole township of Redwoods Pleos falling to the ground, and all the clothes, accessories on top of them.. :o :o P:'( P:'( P:( P:(It would be a disaster. broken necks, legs, split skin, not a pretty sight, and I would never forgive myself for letting it all happen. It is like putting pleos in direct sunlight or storing them next to a window where it is hot, just asking for trouble.

Perhaps it won't happen for a couple of years or it could be while I am asleep next week. First thing I allways do in an earthquake is run to the fish tank so they are not sloshing around, then it is looking for the cats who are hiding already. Pleos would have to fend for themselves when I have real fur babies but I would feel very very bad when the shaking stopped...Yes, boxes are for storing if you live in a quake zone or somewhere safe, and their boxes are better than on an open shelf.                 RWM :cat-hug:

You do have to wiggle the tail a bit to get them in the box, but, like IMR, mine have all been in boxes for some months as I was about to move but our house purchase fell through.  As we've had builders in as well, the boxes have been by far the safest place for them!
