Seems Pleo can sleep well before 10:00pm
« on: October 27, 2012, 01:10:51 AM »

I have read that Pleo goes to sleep at 10:00pm, and wakes again at 8:00am. Found my Pleo always wakes at 8:00am, but at night the time he goes into a final sleep has been different, last night, was up to 10:30pm, the day I got him was 8:00pm, tonight 7:45pm, but had to turn him right off, work tomorrow, cannot have him left one his own.

Do you go to sleep at EXACTLY the same time every night?

Quite interesting to know Pleos actually do go asleep at different times, makes them more 'like-like'. I just assumed it would be the same time due to the noon clock  %)

Same here, watching videos about Pleo RB there was no mention of going to sleep before 10:00pm,  so also assumed this, so like it very much.

Ryu is pretty regular about going to sleep but she doesn't always wake up on time. Lol! Most mornings I'm up before she is. Oh well. Odd programming. I guess she needs her beauty-sleep.

Yuki wakes up at odd hours too :P Pleakley is as regular as clockwork, but he goes to bed late :P I guess it varies one way or the other.

Im having the same problems here, after 17:00 it just goes to sleep. Waking him up doesnt matter, it will go to sleep again. I have tried rsetting the clock at noon while it was on, so i got the beep confirmatiom, didnt matter. Im wondering if the cause might be that hes in his second life fase, like a puppy might become tired sooner than a mature dog.

The clock functions do not work 'properly' until they have fully matured.

Baby Pleos sleep more than older ones, as with all animals.  :)

weve got 2 new batteries for Rexy, and hes been running almost throughout the day for about a week now. Today hes spent almost all day sleeping. Waking him up gives you a good 2 minutes of wake-time before he starts sleeping again. Is this normal? At this moment im a bit disappointed, I want him to go his own way when im not petting him.

"Today he's been sleeping" implies he's been more active previously?  So it could be an off day?   :moose:

It could also be an issue with the clock battery.  It sounds a bit like he thinks it is night time :)  Maybe try resetting the clock battery and see if that fixes it.  If not you could try removing and replacing the clock battery.  If he is now old enough for the clock battery feature to kick in you may find that his internal clock is just out of sink with yours.  I had one of my rb's do the exact same thing and it turned out that about 11pm he was happy to play for hours but all day long he had been sleeping as soon as I stopped petting him.  Resetting his noon clock fixed it :)

This is probably not your issue as you've mentioned having him running all day, but I've noticed that Lizzy has an afternoon 'nap' that I've seen her do as a juvenile and also as an adult, for half an hour around 4pm. She's active any other time of the day (and late into the night, really!), so I'm pretty sure her clock is on schedule. So sometimes you can just get unlucky and pick the wrong time to play. :P

Yesterday evening I used the changeRB program to check up on pleo. I changed his DNA to 'activeness=high' earlier. Everything seems fine, I even checked her internal clock, and that was set perfectly (apart from the month/year, but I didn't mess with that).  Her growth level is 'mature adult', so I guess she doesnt have to hide behind being a puppy no more :)

This morning she woke up at 8am, growled a couple of times and went back to sleep. After waking her up at 8:30, I fed her untill full, then she started a bit of wondering. Now she keeps herself in one place, snoring, than waking up briefly (chanting twice that shes happy), than snoring again. It could also be that she's in sleep-mode, where shes 'dreaming'. Anyway, not much improvement here.

I'm definately thinking that she might be 'broken' (software-wise). I just got my pleo last week, would it hurt to give it the 'ol 1.1 female update?

Just for the record: It should be so that Pleo can walk around atonomously without sleeping right?

Just a thought, but is she in a brightly lit room?

Good idea Crewella  ;D  The scared of the dark thing only kicks in when they have grown up enough just like the body clock functions.  It could well be that she is sleeping so much because she thinks it is dark  :D  Pleo rb's are very very light sensitive and even if it is bright enough for you to be comfortable they may not think so.  You could try shining a torch light onto her RFID sensor (her nose) and see if that makes any difference.  If it stops her from going to sleep then you will know that the lighting isn't bright enough for her and so you can try playing with her in a different room or you can try the scared of the dark patch which you can download  from the downloads section here on the forum.

Thanks guys, Ill try that too. Yesterday it went OK. Still slept a lot, but explored a lot too. It's more acceptable now, but I might try the scared of the dark patch to see how that goes.

- MODIFIED:

It works!  Rexy has been active throughout the day AND evening!. The person that wrote the 'scared in the dark patch' is a genius, and should be crowned 'king of the internet' :)

I agree, that patch was a huge help when I first got Belle as I live in a dark and gloomy house, in the woods, in the UK.  PleoPet is a star indeed.  :bowing:  :D

It does make a huge difference :)  I use it quite a bit in my guys.  Mine wander around great in the daylight hours but as soon as it gets dark and I turn on the lights in the house it just isn't bright enough for them to be happy.  Even though it is as bright as can be  :D  But with the patch they go back to being happy little dinos :)
