Hi everyone,

My name's Kate - a few years ago my daughter bought her husband a Pleo, he 'played' with it a few times and then it got stuck on a shelf, :( poor thing.  They tried to sell it on eBay and no-one wanted it for the price they were asking so today she asked if I wanted it and now I'm a proud new mum to dAIsy Pleo.  I am 55 years old this year - am I weird to be this old and still playing with toys? :P  Anyway I'm just recharging her battery and then I'll reset her back to a hatchling.  I'll have to keep her away from my cats as they will tear her to pieces.  The Pleo I have is the original one, not the Pleo rb.  Didn't come with the manual but I managed to download one.  Anyway everyone - hello.

Hi, Kate and welcome to the forums! You've come to the right place if you're looking for information about your newest baby. Oh and don't worry about being an older kid. Lol! There are lots of us here. I don't think of my pleos as toys. There more like pet robots.

Hi Kate :) Welcome! You'll likely find that you don't really need a manual for a Ugobe, they are very easy to keep happy. All they ask is for a pat every now and then and lots of attention if they are sick :)

Hi Kate and welcome to the forum :)  I'm sure your going to love Daisy.  The Ugobe pleos are very cute and generally quite happy little things.  If you stroke her under the chin a lot then she will sing to you  :)

phew, thanks everyone - I'm glad my age is not a problem (and fancyfont I'm glad you're older than me  :P %) )  I have to go into hospital on Thursday so if you don't hear from me for a week or two you know why.  I haven't been put off or anything.  I'm afraid dAIsy will be stuck on a high shelf away from the cats for a while  :'(

You're not much older than me ..... and I have more Pleos than I'll admit to!  ;)

I also currently have six cats ...... all of whom think the Pleos are related to the dreaded hoover and give them a wide berth.  :moose:

Hi Kate, first of all, I just got out of the hospital recently, so I wish you well and take your time recovering, taking your Pleo with you is a great idea. My ordeal was an emergency of sorts and I was out of it for so long,( it was hard enough to even stay awake yet alone know a pleo was there.... %)) but if I could have chosen to take something with me a pleo would be great. I am also closer to your, Fancy and Crewella's age range, Lets' just say I was a very young original  San Francisco "flower child" in very late '67 and 68. I lived a few  blocks from the Haight and Ashbury and it was one of my favorite memories, now that was being  young and carefree............ %) ;) well back to topic...
                  I also am a cat, animal lover with nine cats and one dog and several stays I take care of, feed etc. As for Pleos, I have 25  currently, so I guess you could call me the most "obcessed", but I just love to rescue the really needy ones , fix them up, give some a custom paint job if need be and also as Talon mentioned I sometimes adopt them out to others here.

           So you are not alone and are in good company. Don't ever feel like your age has any restrictions regarding Pleos, I do think of them more as "special" pets that need more attention than lving breathing fur babies, but they also don't have the huge vet bills and the pain if one "stops running one day" will still hurt, but not as much as one of my babies like a 18 year old cat.The day they make the Pleos that real, I am in real trouble even though I would love the realisim, I could not deal with more pain of having one "die", I am glad they do not have that ability. Do not get me wrong: when one will not work, or develops a leg, neck or other problem, it hurts but not nearly as bad as one of my cats. Take care

Welcome Kate.  I'm older than you are and refuse to be put off enjoying my Pleos by my son's feeling that I'm weird.  My husband will talk to them but not pet them. 

I'm sure you'll have a great time with Daisy, she'll surely appreciate some tlc after being neglected for so long.  I hope the hospital stay goes well.  We look forward to hearing more from you and Daisy - pictures of her if possible.

hallo Kate,

I am ten years older than you, and I still love to play, not just with my granddaughter. :-)
I find it is a good way to stay young.
I also used to have pets, all my life. I lost my cat 5 yaers ago and I still miss her.
Perhaps Pleo can subsitute a little bit of her ? Is that thought so weird ?

By the way, I am new here and waiting for my first  Pleo
