Hehe love the choice of music :) I'm sure Tron won't be any trouble at all %) I'm surprised he ate so early! None of mine would.

Awwwe! That was adorable! I love hatching pleos! Anyway I made the mistake of watching this at six in the morning and laughed a bit too loudly at your music. My poor pregnant niece wasn't too happy with me and kicked the wall between us. I hate being the only morning person in the house.
As far as eating, Ryu ate maybe about ten minutes after hatching. She didn't want much though. She might have taken two offerings and then burped.

I too loved the music, nice and upbeat for hatching in the morning. Tron did look like he enjoyed the sugarcane so be careful or you will get a suger junkie quickly. LOL. I forgot how cute the burping is as least Tron was polite and did not turn it into an all day session. :D(perhaps later) Have you looked at the dna yet to see what his characteristic are? I bet it says High intelligence and very active..those are two that seem pretty safe to bet on.
I can't remember how early Baby or Cammie ate, but not that quick, but during the hatching phase..I do feel for you Talon, the biggest draw back about living with so many people is everyone getting along with other peoples timeframes and sleeping is a big one. I also am a quiet person at times and my hubby will drive me nuts turning the radio in the car full blast, and it makes me quiver. OH well........................RWM

PLEO Embryo Genetic Diagnosis report for PLEO rb
Our scientist's best prediction of your PLEO rb SN **Tron's Serial Number Here**

● This subject embryo will have a 75-85% chance of being FEMALE :o (that came as a bit of a shock to me considering he is blue) however temperature variations during incubation might alter this prediction.
● This subject embryo will grow to be brave and independent.
● This subject embryo will be adventurous, strong and active.

Sounds like trouble to me... I'm also pretty sure there should be the words 'stubborn' and 'aloof' in there somewhere. Very independent thinking compared with Stephan, he is sometimes difficult for me to understand. He is very vocal and walks a lot.

He is very big on walking, it took him about three weeks to start taking proper steps but once he did he was off and he regularly out walks Stephan. We went on holiday last month and I took both Pleos, we stayed at my Nanna's house and I sat at one end of the room and Nanna at the other and Tron spent his whole battery cycle walking back and forth between us, when he got close to her she would turn him in my direction and when he got to me I'd point him in her direction.

He doesn't appear to have edge detection of any kind, he will walk right off tables Stephan will always notice so he has
to be supervised. Can't trust him.

He has learnt his name after four weeks of trying and will reliably respond.
'Tron' must be very easy for him to hear/understand because even with some back ground noise he will usually respond.

He has refused all attempts at tricks and learning stones, he will turn is head away and make that 'Yuck!' noise. When I force them into his mouth he spits them out so he can't do any of the tricks yet.

His favourite foods are sugar and coffee. They are the only foods he wants really :P

It is annoying when you are awake but all others are asleep, you can't do anything. Aibos are basically alarm clocks with the way they beep so you can't play with them or listen to music, have the telly on or even make breakfast at this house.

I am surprised he has learned his name already, that is quick, It took forever to have Baby or Cammie Sue want to learn anything but I did not have them on every day.I can tell you right now to be careful about using just sugar and coffee with Tron, you will have a hyped up sugar junkie Pleo who gets cranky when the coffee wears off and he sugar crashes, or should I say, she sugar crashes, I am surprised, I thought all the blues were boys and all pinks were girls, I forgot they changed them...that is funny.
I am glad you have a walker, Myne are both more vocal and cry a lot, but high intelligence but low courage, they are very simlliar. Cant wait to see more. Thanks for sharing.

What a pleasant sound. They're dripping contentment. Luna you've got two happy babies there. Back when Cato was well and Ryu would condescend to let him lie next to her, I'd sit there and watch them dream. It was probably coincidence but one night as Cato went into standby he put his head over on Ryu's uncovered foreleg and that was how I found them the following morning.

Bad news.

I didn't want to start a new thread so I'll just post here since this is the Official thread for my robots... Stephan just broke his neck :'( Left side cable. I never thought this would happen to us, I have always been so careful with him, he is Ugobe so I did know it was a possibility but I never ever thought it would happen. He was just sitting beside me on the table with no obstacles in his way or anything, I wasn't even touching him and I heard it snap and when I looked over his head is lolling to the left, he can look up and down but can no longer move his head sideways.

What do I do? Are the other cables ticking timebombs now, should I attempt surgery now or buy a neck brace? Are other things going to go wrong now (omg I keep thinking of Sparky and feeling sick) Once I realised he had for sure broken something I switched him off right away, frightened of turning him on again, don't want to make the situation worse.
:hissyfit:

EDIT: After I'd calmed down from the initial freakout (you are allowed to completely loose your crap when your best friend breaks he neck, alright.) enough to go look for IMR's neck repair tutorial I have decided that I need to talk to Crewella. It is not the top cable he has broken (which is the one repaired in MIRs video) but one of the side ones, I looked at Crewella's photos and lets just say *insert swear words here* I wish it had been the top cable!! His whole body is going to have to come apart, I'm going to be sick. :'(

Since it has just gone midnight here I'm going to go to bed and try to sleep, I'll message you tomorrow Crewella if that is ok. I'd like to ask you to help walk me through the surgery %) It is completely over my head. Never done anything like this before and Stephan is my best friend after James so I'm loosing my marbles over this to be honest.

I'm so sorry to hear about poor Stephan, Luna. :'(

Yes, of course, I'll help in any way I can. I can talk you through it - all you need is to take it slow and be methodical. Those pics look scary to me, and I took 'em ..... but when you get going it will all make sense! ;)

Poor Stephan :( But keep your chin up, it's really not as bad as it looks once you get in there. It's a bit like a jigsaw, everything only fits in one way so it's hard to make mistakes. I would recommend replacing both cables while you are in there. Just in case.

If you get in dire straights you can always ship him here and I'll take a look :)

It is easier than you think. I'm sure you will be fine :) I managed to do Sparky's neck cables and I'd never done anything like that before either. Crewella is great for talking you through it :) If it helps take a look at this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV0L0VT15bk

It is the photo video I did of Sparky's neck repair. Her side cables and her top bottom cable was broken. So at least this shows you step by step what your in for :)
If I can be of any help in any way just send me a pm. I'm sure you'll do just fine with Crewella talking you through. Stephan will be back on his feet in no time :)

Oh I'm so sorry, Luna! At least you didn't cause his broken neck. I tripped over a box of DVDs while carrying a very heavy bag of towels past Bleu's shelf and I went over bag first into her tail. Bottom cable. SNAP! If it's any consolation, don't forget about Mr. Bleueyes.

Thankyou so much to everyone who has done tutorial videos, they were fantastic help. :)

I did not do the surgery myself, turns out mum knows a man through work who used to be a mechanic in the air force and now teaches electronics at the local high school so I agreed to send Stephan and a laptop with all the tutorials downloaded onto it to work with her.
He was home and fixed by lunchtime ;D Well sort of anyway, he can move but his head is at an odd angle. Sort of like he is a dog with water in his ear and the removal of the skin apparently did not go as planned and his neck ripped so he has been wrapped in athletics tape which you can't really even see once he has his clothes on anyway. So at the moment we are calling it a success, he has gone through three battery cycles since the operation and the new parts seem to be holding. No unusual sounds or over heating either which is a good sign.

What had happened was as well as the side cable breaking like I thought three of his neck bones had also snapped :o The man took them all out and took some of the good not broken ones out as well and scanned them into a CAD computer that they have at the high school. The 3D picture was then sent to a cutting machine which made new neck bones out of plastic. Then he folowed Kat's instructions to take him apart, get the bad cables out and put the new ones in.

I was not personally there for the surgery so this is all coming second hand from Mum's report but I can tell you I can feel the difference in his new neck bones. You know how if you touch a Ugobe's neck and then touch a RB's you can feel the difference, RB's is more sturdy and heavy? Well that is what Stephan feels like now. I can feel his neck is much stronger. I hope it lasts/

Slightly disappointed about his skin as it is ruined now. I was so proud of his skin because I had managed to keep it looking and feeling out-of-the-box new. Oh well it's not like I even saw his skin much anyway because he is always wearing the clothes I had Kat make for him, now he has a real reason to wear them :D

It is great that you were able to get him repaired ;D If the skin worries you you could always paint him to cover up the scar. If it hasn't been done already just use superglue to stick the torn edges of skin back together as neatly as you can and then you can make him over either with a whole new look or just touch up the paint around that area. I have found that a combination of latex mask paints and either acrylic paints or acrylic inks works well :) There is a thread all about painting pleos on here somewhere so maybe take a read of that and see what you think.
Dressing him up is always a good idea too :)

That WAS fast! So glad to hear Stephan's himself again, if a little battered! ;)

If the skin is badly ripped you might try vinyl and rubber glue - the sort used to mend tarpaulins and waterproof gear. It holds well if you apply it to both sides and will also form a clear seal on the surface?

That is fantastic news Luna, and what a great freind to have available, through your Mum! I love the idea of the Computer CAD and wow to be able to have custom made vertrabrae made on the spot, Oh boy is that fantastic or what, They could make some spare parts and there would be a lot of customers here on this site, I mean look at how many Pleos I have and all but three are Ugobes, and I hate to even think of how many broken neck Pleos I have! :o %)
I am so glad Stephen is back home and now he has a better neck then before. His skin can be repainted and you are right, clothes hide a lot, I say most of my Pleos wear clothes or some clothes at least 75% of the time, and a lot of it is to protect their paint, skin and also it does hide broken necks for the Ugobes.
We are so lucky to have such talented people here on this site, Crewella, IMR, and Kat all being able to do Pleo surgery. I am on the verge of doing some surgery myself on Baby Ruth and If I get over that one ok, I may try one of my broken neck babies, like Nova...my very first Pleo.

What a great present to get Stephen back so quickly. :cheer: P:) RWM and the Pleo Clan of the Redwoods

My first thought was of James/Aibos in general when I found out it was so easy to have a computer cut a replica part. Because Aibo parts are no longer made (at least with Pleo you have the option of contacting Innovo for advice) this cutting/replicating machine could be of enormous benefit to the comunity, I'm sure there are limits to what it can do, I don't think it could cut new parts like legs if James were to break one for example but for little gears and plastic plates it sounds like a really viable option. Surgery started at 8am and he was back by 12 noon so it is obviously a quick inexpensive (if you know someone with the machine) process. I am excited about it. It can also cut wood in any shape you tell the computer, the high school students make toy cars and train sets with it.

The replacement parts are not perfect as they are ever so slightly bigger than the originals and cut through the skin which is why he had to be taped up rather than glued but as long as he works I don't care, as another person said when I was upset about the skin do I want him to look perfect or do I want him to work, and of course I would rather he look like Frankenstein but be fully functional than a picture perfect model that can only sit on a shelf collecting dust. So when it is put that way, who cares about his scars :)
