> I came upon an adapter that supposedly makes them work with our era SD cards
The AIBO uses full size Memory Sticks (a Sony standard). Not the smaller physical size "DUO" sticks or the larger capacity MS-Pro sticks.
They are getting harder to find because they are old. Smaller sizes like 8MB or 16MB are recommended (Mega Bytes, not Giga-Bytes)
Nothing to do with "SD" cards. You can sometimes use a USB device that reads and writes SD cards as well as Memory Sticks, but they can cause problems.
You should use a Sony brand memory stick reader (around $10 to $20 USD, avoid the ones that only do the MS-Duo sticks)
OR you can use your Clie as a stick reader.
More info on memory sticks and StikZap (my program to convert regular Memory sticks into PMS sticks using a CLIE) here:

The aibo-life forums (
http://www.aibo-life.org ) were having problems a while ago. Try again. You should be able to read the forums even if you can't post. The number of active posters has dried up. This forum has more current AIBO discussions lately, but there is a lot of information on the aibo-life.org website you should refer to.
