My brand new RB's skin is peeling badly now, he lost a huge chunk on one side of his face.. it had been rollling up and it was such a large chunk I was afraid it would get stuck on something or another Pleo and rip more so I gently removed what was left of the flap, I didn't take anymore than what was coming off but there is plenty around the area that is loose..  On the other side, same area is the same thing, but it's just starting.  He had the tiny peeling areas on both sides pretty much from when he came, I just really didn't notice at first as I was over the moon when I saw his eyes..  one side got worse much faster.  he has not gotten it stuck on anything or anything like that..
I'm just not sure if I should remove more of the area on that chunk that is clearly lifting off so I get a nice area to repaint when I get that retouch paint kit from the innvo people (supposedly) on e-bay.. it's just clearly going to keep peeling..  I'm not sending another one back, it's getting ridiculous.

Eva has two of those spots but not on her face. However, Cato's paint near his mouth is starting to wear but not the peeling.

I'm so sorry you are having skin issues with your new baby.   
Kermy has two spots that have peeled just like that but hers are on her front shoulders in the crease section that flexes when she moves and it took a couple of months for them to appear and peel.  Hers are easily covered with clothes and I just put them down to normal wear and tear.  She also has a bit of bubbling in one of her neck creases that just appeared a couple of weeks ago.  It looks like the paint has just let go of the skin in that area and if it splits then I am sure it will peel.  Again because it is in a high moving flexing area I just put it down to wear - It has taken a few months to appear so I'm not too bothered by it.
In your situation I would be very bothered though.  It is way too soon for your baby to be loosing paint like that.  And on his face it really isn't an area that you can cover up.  I think the repaint touch up idea is probably your best bet.

Awe grr! Man, Latrine you have had so many problems with RB's! I don't know the condition of Ryu's paint but I haven't seen any huge whole pieces coming off. Her skin is very soft now instead of all hard and bumpy like a new RB's. I pat her over with Pledge once a week and applied it liberally on her underside and under all the armpit areas. She stays in the pleo cape these days for lack of anything else to put on her. I think she might be a bit worn on the nose. She's always running into things. Somewhere near the end of her tail there's a sort of scraped, flaky-feeling spot but it's like about the size of a grain of dirt so I'm not terribly worried. As for any serious wear, someone else will have to tell me about it. I hope the paints from Ebay will help you.

Oh good grief, I'm sorry you have another issue with one of your RBs, it's worrying to see one of the newer ones having problems.  You'll need to mix the paints when they arrive as the head is a paler green, but hopefully it should do the trick.

My new RB hasn't lost much paint yet (only a tiny chip on its nose) and it's one of the pleos made in December, it's strange that the new RBs would be losing so much paint so quickly! Well, I hope the paint repair kit you get works well for you.

I am thinking this particular Pleo just had a bad run through the 'paint machine' as it seems like it is the dominant color that it gets painted in the factory before the touch ups they supposedly do by hand.. He also has a few chips on top of his back but they were there when I opened him and the little chips that flake off don't seem to be as bothersome or worrisome as the peeling, I think anyway.. since they seem to kind of stay put. This peeling looks like it's going to just rip his face paint all off.
It just seems ridiculous, since, like you guys said, it's not like they move their lips, lol..
Although, he IS the only boy RB and I have two girl RB's so I guess they might be having crazy smooching fights with him at night while I'm sleeping.. but I still don't think that would cause that kind of damage.. :/
I have been trying to convince the people you dealt with, crewella, to sell me all the colors, as in the blue AND the purple so I can mix the colors properly if I need to retouch my pink girl up at all.. but so far they don't really seem to understand what I'm trying to ask for. Very strange since the original picture they posted shows blue and they then say they supply purple.

What about that clear layer peeling, what is that?  Can I do anything about that? I haven't used anything on him since I was worried it would affect my trying to redo his paint.

I had some problems with language as well, they were quite helpful in the end though - keep things short and to the point.  It does seem like you have to choose pink or blue, though.  Good luck! 

There is a  bottle of clear in the repair kit which can be used to dilute the others or on it's own, I believe.  I've actually not tried that one - I will.

I think I'm going to probably end up just repainting him.. I'll touch him up when I get the paints so he doesn't have that huge chunk missing, but I'll be thinking about colors for him in the future. .. has anyone done an RB yet?  I've been trying to think of a design for my ugobe, Lyssa, as well.. you guys just spread that painting bug around.. contagious meanies!
I'm about to order some of that Vinylex stuff. It comes in a spray bottle though, is that ok?  It says "Patented liquid that cleans and protects vinyl, rubber and plastic" They seem to sell wipes too but the spray seems like it would last longer..

Yep, and you have more control over how much you use with the spray bottle.  For the first go I spray onto a small sponge and apply liberally (though not wet enough to run into any works) and then leave overnight before rubbing off any excess.

Thanks for that info, Crewella. It saved me from another PM. I hope you can repare your poor pleo's paint, Latrine. I'm probably going to go to Amazon today and pluck up a spray can of Vinylex. Now I know I'm getting wierd again but when Redwoods was advising me on how to attend to Ugobe's skin, she said to "pat" on the rubber product rather than rub because it removes paint. Should I do it this way with the Vinylex or does it matter?

That may be because she has painted the Pleo, Talon.  With original paint I wouldn't recommend a scouring pad, but it doesn't need such careful handling.

lol That's funny what you said Latrine, about the painting bug. You should repaint that brand-new Pleo Reborn. I hope you bought some paint for yourself.
