WOW Crewella has some talent for painting Pleos!
Do you take custom orders as well? We could send our Pleos to you ;)

It seems like the snake patterns work really well with your tiny chubby friends :)

I love both Python and Boa Constrictor.

You could also paint Ugobe pleos from Ebay and then sell them custom made ;) I think I would be first in lane to get one!

:o, the painting is splendid but I am scared of snake. Normally if they are shown in Natinal Geographic channel or Discovery, I would not watch them, Phyton phobic lol

Ok, Painted Pleo is done except for toenails and taking photos in daylight, It is after midnite and not the best time to take photos, but I couldn't help myself. who knows what could happen...either bigfoot snatches my Pleo or the Pleo elves remove all the paint while I am sleeping :o.either way, here is the end result. This is what I would call a Gila Monster Lizard inspired Pleo coloring. Remember natural daylight shows the colors better and True. Bear with me and Painted Pleo till tommorow.

RWM I would love to see a full body shot of her.  She looks great so far from what I can see. ;D

Crewella I love the boa pleo!  Also a great job so far.  I can't wait to see the finished product. :)

Thanks for the feedback, guys.  I actually can't wait to get on with the next stage!  The base colour was really hard to get the right shade of pale grey!:D

RWM the addition of that lovely coppery colour balances the yellow sections of the pattern nicely.  Makes the blue eyes 'pop' even more, too! Fab!  :D

Hi RWM, I started to like your new painting. Your pleo does resemble a dino picture from the book that you bought. Lively, feathery, colourful.
Scientists do believe birds are descendants of dinosaurs.
Please show whole body picture as requested.

I love the python pleo! I think the last project I saw was the basic python, this one looks a lot more dino-ish! Love it, as always! Beautiful!

Ok you asked for more body shots Kat and here they are lots of them to show the coloring of Painted Pleos.

I think that Larry the Lizard really just likes a free ride
Actually this is one of my favorites. :)

The rusty orange tones really do tie the yellow ones in very nicely.  I also love the pearly shimmery greens you have used.  I like this one just the way she is, she looks fantastic. ;D

HI Kat, glad I was able to get enough "body shots" for you ;D :D as I told PleoPet. I can take 30 or more shots in one setting and over a 100 a day or 30 plus several videos that adds up quickly. It is easy to see that point here with 14 photos! I think I should have taken a photography class cause I enjoy it so much. anyway, I am glad you like the way she turned out. You are right about the pearly green two tones, I used a special pearlescent powder in green tones over the original inks. ( the inks worked better than the paints and I wanted more of the original paint to show through and not cover it up so much as to use it to my advantage and just "tweak it". This way she stil has the green undertones and I used a brown over it and then applied the powder and then my secret greens and rusty colors and yellow was the only acrylic at all, Anyway, I am glad you like her.  :) She doesn't have a name, she is going to be one of the "name the Pleos" for the contest I want to run, but will wait till the Pet one is either over or almost over. also the Scavenger Hunt is going to be going on and I don't want to have everything at the same time, it is nice to have different things going on through out the year.
thanks for the feedback, I enjoyed doing her, she is my favorite so far! ;D

Thanks for the kind words, Lina, it's nice to know that people like it!  I'm afraid it takes me HOURS to paint a Pleo - I've loved doing the two I've done, but just don't have the time to do many more!

I think this one is my favourite of yours, so far, as well RWM.  I also like the paint on the lower body and legs, which set the pattern colours off better than the natural skin colour would do.  ;D

Hi Crewella, thank you for the feedback, I am very happy that you like it. It means a lot when a fellow artist and someone who has a good eye for color and such approves of other people's art handiwork. I think this was the easiest to do in that I "just knew" what I wanted her to look like and didn't have to guess or had no problems with the materials used. :) After having a failure and such disappointment with my start with Lavender, I am happy this one came out, this is also why I think she is the perfect canidate for "Name the Pleo" as I think most people will like her, and she is not your typical looking Pleo. Can you guess what I used on her to get her looking this color Crewella, I think I said what I used, but haven't heard anyone ask anything else?
                                                   Thanks a bunch! :)

I saw that you'd used powdered pigment to get the two-tone effect on the darker areas, which looks great.  Lots of reptiles have that sort of sheen and two-tone iridescence, so I think it works well.  Was it just ordinary acrylic paint for the bright colours, or all inks?  And did you use any latex at all?

Hi Crewella, I used the original inks I used on my first Pleo, Speedo for the browns, on her body. I left some of the green on Pleo show through so it was not a heavy ink job. I used Acrylic for the Yellow which is brighter and some Liquid latex for the yellow orange. I am uploading photos of the powders I used ,. The are easy to use and have nice colors, 3 different series and pretty well priced, reasonable . I will upload the photos next so you can see what they look like,.

The pearlescent powders are an interesting idea, I might try some myself one day.  I also like the idea of letting the green show through a thinner ink layer - I always like to work with the nature of a material rather than against it, and it gives a kind of third dimension to the effect.  Thanks RWM.  :)

It's up to you - you can use them as they come or thin them with water, it depends what consistency you want.

The monster makers latex paints I used were very runny just like ink so if they are the same ones I used you won't need to mix them with water before you use them.  Here is a pic of the ones I used
You will find you need to do a few coats to cover over the original pleo green paint though as they are quite thin.
Good luck with your painting. :)

I left it a full 24 hours to dry between coats.  You will probably find it should take about 2 or 3 coats to cover over the green.

I left mine 24 hours between coats as well.  It feels touch dry very quickly, but needs much longer to 'cure' properly.

Brown with white stripes or black stripes sounds lovely.  I think it would look great either way. :)
