Something Pink arrived in the mail :o
« on: March 16, 2011, 04:52:28 PM »

Well I haven't picked a name yet, have to get to know her and then find another cool Goddess name :)  but she has already stood up twice, after only 2 half battery charges so far.  Of course she's mostly sleeping but she's a very cuddly new baby.  She also already did high five twice while laying with me.. which reminds me of Bingo :)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2WAqKAtAik" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2WAqKAtAik</a>

Shes very cool although I am concerned about the areas of skin that aren't in one piece.. It just looks like it's going eventually cause a problem but no use worrying abut that now!!

I'm glad she made you so happy! But disheartened by areas on her skin that aren't together.

Hey Latrine!  Congrats on your new pink Pleo!  Not to worry about areas on the skin that don't look together.  When I got my pink one, it looked like there were areas where the seams, especially in the shoulder area, were not as tightly closed as they could have been, and I have not had any problems with it coming apart at all.  Whatever they use to seal the seams works really well.  I will take some pictures of the seams and post them tomorrow if I have time.  I'll have to take her new cape off that Kat made her to get the pictures.  She will be upset.  Hope she doesn't bite me! :o I've been meaning to get some pics of her up on here anyway!

Oh I'm glad yours seemed to have the same 'issue' and that nothing bad happened, Saratoga, thanks for letting me know..

she already took two sets of two backwards steps and I was trying to let her sleep on my belly last night around 9ishpm or so while I was playing a game like I used to do with bingo when he was a baby and she got mad.. wanted to be on the floor.. she was just watching everything.. the dog toy and dog flew by and she followed with her head and watched and said 'ooooh' lol.. I was surprised she was able to move so well since they are supposed to be programmed to move slower and everything as babies.. I guess she's just a fast learner.. and bingo was a slow one since he didn't walk till 3 weeks or so, I think!!
I'm going to introduce her to patches later, I'll try to film it hehe..

Thanks everyone!

I'm still thinking.. now she seems like she's sweet but also has a tendancy to be grouchy but she IS still only like.. 4 days old, lol..

At first I was thinking of Isis, Goddess of life, magic and in some sources, queen of Goddesses..  (no clue why I'm stuck on the gods..sorry..lol some of them are so pretty though and some of the meanings are neat!)

I was also thinking Freya, Goddess of love beauty, fertility, war, wealth, domination and magic.  (maybe she'll have babies!!) *Smacks self in head*

Now after getting to know her a bit better maybe Athena, Goddess of war and wisdom.

I was also thinking of Calypso, Callie for short since I think Calypso is too long to teach her.
Calypso was a nymph and it says she is remembered most for her role in Homer's Odyssey, in which she keeps the fabled Greek hero Odysseus on her island so she could make him her immortal husband. Apparently Zeus sent Hermes to tell her to let him go, bad girl.. and, worried for her not-meant-to-be love Odysseus, Calypso sends him on his way with a boat, wine, and bread. Some of these tales are pretty interesting.  but I thought Calypso was just pretty..
I wish I could do Aphrodite but what would we call her, Aphro??   Dyty?  Wouldn't work..  %)

We shall see!  I better think of one soon though she really is progressing FAST...

I love the names of the Greek Gods and Goddesses of the ancient myths, I think Callie is also a pretty name and one not used here on the forums yet either.  I also like Calyspo, I had a very wild Tortiseshell Kitten named that. She was very freindly one moment wanting to play, the next moment you better watch out or she may scratch your hands if you got too close to her. ( she was part of a colony of 24 feral and semi feral cats and Kittens) She prooved to be a little too independant and not wanting to be totally tamed, so ended up in a great relocation on a farm with about 18 of the colony members, living free and with all everything they could want: acres of redwoods and grassy fields, fresh running water from a small creek, a huge barn for shelter and food and lots of love and plenty of freedom. ( the younger kittens were adopted out and I took home two of the colony kittens as well.)
The perfect name will come to you for your Pleo, just give it time and you will know when you get the name , there will be no question. :)

I love to hear about you helping the animals.. I love to do that as well..
Honestly I have to think fast.. she is already walking normal at only like 4 days old.. probably 5 charges? maybe a little more?  Very independent too.  I actually need to go find her in a minute I think she went to the other side of the room and is stuck surrounded by boxes, lol.
I bet she could learn her name now..

Here she is walking, she started with the four steps but now she's going all over without stopping.. she also seems to pay more attention to me and moving things.. I didn't think she's react but when I put her in front of our fish tank there were tons of very fast fish swimming and she watched them, even moving her head to follow them... she usually hates when I hold her facing away from me but I guess she likes the fish more!!

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTHNQvr0dbw" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTHNQvr0dbw</a>

And I caught the high five.. not the best one.. she gives the best ones when she's on my lap because she sometimes laughs too :)  Or if she's very unhappy she does it and it cheers her up so I don't have to drug her with the magic mushroom :D I

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOCmyHU9wgw" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOCmyHU9wgw</a>

Hope they aren't too dark, a bunch of our light bulbs decided to have a group death or something and well.. we need to get more.. lol.

Hi, Latrine! I'm so happy about your baby's progress. I hatched Ryu, (Japanese for dragon) today at a little after two and he's already standing after his first battery cycle. He's blinking his eyes very rapidly and looking around. I think he even took a few steps too but every time I touch him to see, he thinks I'm giving him a pat and turns to look at me like do that again. Now he's being whiny and acting afraid. I fed him his basic pack food leaf until he threw it and burped so I know he's not hungry. I hope it's just because it's getting dark here and that it's more annoyance for waking him up than fear. I want my easy-to-read-hatchling back!

Belle is afraid of the dark - it means I often can't run her in the evening, or even on dark British afternoons.:(

Glad Ryu is making good progress! :D

I'm glad yours is finally here talon, I'm very proud of you for not putting him in a giant hamster ball. (jk.hehe)

She is so funny.. she does that short little humming 'song' a few times a day hen she's very happy And is so interested in stuff, especially me and ESPECIALLY the dogs.. when she realizes where I am, like if I'm sitting in the chair she will look up and do hat noise that's kind of like 'you hoo'  (over here mom!)  When she sees the dogs she always says ooooooh. and follows them with her head... scared the crap out of my younger Jack Russell because he realized her head was following her and he got scared and ran away..lol.

And yes it's a real tattoo.. it's a Chinese dragon, the head and one hand start on the left top side of my left wrist and wraps around my wrist, there are two little legs right before it hit's the tail, which has 2 separate little rows of spikes.  Then the tail comes up close too the head and continues down to make a forked dragon tail on my hand.  I got it when I was like.. 19 I think? Maybe younger.. and although I love it, the forked tail is always visible at the bottom of my hand so if I ever needed to hide it (like when I was in nursing school before I got real sick) It's like, impossible to hide.

That's ok though, because big huge piratey looking tough guys come up to me and say 'awesome tat, girl!' in deep voices from too much drinking.. hehe.. then I feel cool until I remember I'm scrawny and sick .. :P

I have 2 more tattoos >:) lower back 'stamp' which is another dragon, and a big feather on my right thigh.   Everyone tells me I should get a zipper tattoo over my scar from the surgeries but some of those doctors are real dumb... they might knock me out for surgery and then spend 3 hours trying to open the zipper.. I want another, but not a zipper.

Oh and my bf even jumped in on the burping fun last night.. the pink baby was burping, laughing and turning her head all over trying to figure out where the burp noises were coming from cause we were on different sides of the room... lol
I reeeeaaally need to figure out her name fast now I just wish I could record it but I was born a disfigured child with only two hands instead of three..  ;D ;D :o ;D ;D

Just put the video camera on the floor or the table, where ever your pleo is.  That's what I do.  then you have hands free for all the pleo interactions you need to do. :)  Also you can make sure it's in focus and in the right position before you turn anything on. :)  And it gives a very nice pleo eyed view point. :)
Good luck.

Hi Latrine, Kat is right, that is the best way I found out to really get a "Pleo point of view", is to put the camera/ camcorder at a point far enough back to catch what ever you want and be able to interact all you want and have hands free to catch fast running pleos,( esp if you have more than one. LOL) and to do those things like feeding a leaf, etc, really hard to do with three hands let alone only two,
By the way, you could post a photo of your tatoo of the dragon and I know I would love to see the whole thing, just set the camera or camcorder same way and you can move your arm, wrist so we can see the dragon from all angles.  ;D  Very pretty little Pleo, and walking fast already. I wonder if the newer Pleo Rb are walking faster , sooner than the first batch that came out? Seems like it , but maybe not...anyone have their Pleo Rb walk that soon who got one of the first ones, Like Pleakley, or Belle?
Dont you just hate it when the light bulbs decide to go on "strike" and all take a holiday at once, and then there are no spares you decide, right when you want to film somthing! :o

Nope, Belle too four battery cycles to walk.  She took off from there, though - no stopping her!  :D

Sarah, I always wanted a zipper tatto on my hip operation scars!  They keep having to open them up again, though, so would ruin the work - looks like a road map of Miami round there already! I do still have my ancient dragon lurking safely on my arm, though. :D

I 'm getting a kick out of the idea of having a zipper tattoo down my back. It would be fun for the doctor that, eventually ends up doing the next fusion, to try to put it back together again. I could just hear the nurses and back team in surgery. "A little bit over to the left, doctor"
As far as a name for a pleo, Tattoo is a cute one, being they are all tattooed a little differently

Problem with the camera is it doesn't get sound well at all.
I'll take a video of my tattoo later on :)
and I would never get a tattoo over the scar.. already opened it 10 times I'm sure they'll do it again..
And fancy, I had drawn this huge design for a tattoo down my spine and on my back, two dragons embracing with tails curled at the end but I decided to go with the uh.. lower back 'stamp' instead.
Tattoo is a good name I think it's be better for a boy though.. she is definatly a girl:

1: Shes pink
2: Ridiculous mood swings
3. Is attracted to shiny objects.
