Now, now, Crewella.  The RB only has something akin to "speech" recognition.  Or more accurately, "tonal pattern" recognition where it recognizes just specific "commands" or "key words", in that the RB can be trained to recognize specific commands.   I'd love speech recognition, where it would "understand" what you are saying (like the software Talon probably uses).  Voice recognition as in the ability to recognize who is speaking, not just what is being spoken, is alas way beyond what these little guys can do.   It may seem like they can as what they do is learn a specific pattern of sounds.  So in that sense, they learn a command as spoken is a specific voice, and therefore will only respond to you as their owner issuing the command.   But if you are saying anything else, the pleo doesn't know your voice from the neighbor's dog.

Fair point, I didn't mean to imply the RB could do more than it does, you're right.   

For Luna's purposes, though, the fact that it would only respond to HER voice (as taught) might be a bonus?

My screnereader doesn't do dictation. If it did my every word would most likely be spelled perfectly. Lol! Though I was tempted by Dragon Naturally Speaking, I figured I'd fall into all sorts of proper English-defying stunts if I let my mouth lead the way. My laptop keyboard has no modifications whatever. JAWS reads the characters as they are typed and can read them back either one at a time or in scentences words or paragraphs. Nice thought though, Mweed.

Crewella you know how with an ERS7 and 210 running Recognition you can do owner registration and it learns your face and your voice? That is what I want. Phantom's Genibo will get happy and excited when it sees his sons face but it won't respond like that if it sees, say, the neighbour's face.
And from what I have heard from Josephine Tory the ERS7 was more interested in looking at her than her mother after she did owner registration.

I don't know if I'm making much sense but that is what I would like, when it sees my face it could react in a happy manner or make a cute sound that it only does for me.

It works well in the 2xx and 7 series Aibo (though not so well for me in my very dark house).  It's an odd one in the Genibo ..... I've found myself hiding from mine to stop him hassling me!

All these descent features hopefully can be added to any newer model Pleo but it will mean the price of Pleo will def go up but that is ok with me :-D as long as the improvements are great and everything works well .

But there has not been any hint at all or any news on any new model pleo in recent times ??

That was an early prototype - not all the planned behaviours were implemented in the Pleo.  You could write a skit for something like shake hands, though.

If only i could disable the needs to feed pleo as i really have no time. They need to give us more options on how to raise pleo especially for a busy person like me whose main interest is to see dinosaur walks again and interacts like other lifeforms.
In terms of calling to come to you feature i think DREX performed better than pleo and this is embarassing as pleo is supposed to be more advanced. Pleo will only responds to your call when you are really closed to it and it only takes a few steps but drex could detect better to your hand clapping or your voice at a distance farther than pleo could. I hope they could improve this in the near future and i dont mind to buy it at a higher price.
I really hope they would produce another type of robotic pet dinosaur such as baby trex or stegosaurus .

Wow all of these are good, though I'm definitely all for the self-charging battery in particular-- that way pleo could run and run and never have to be "turned off"!  he'd still sleep of course, so maybe that's when he could be "charging". I also wouldn't mind the size upgrade  ah heck, who am I kidding, they're great just the way they are

I just laughed so much! Thinking of you running around your house hiding because your crazy robot dog won't stop looking for you! HAHAHAHA! What does he do when he finds you? Just stare? How creepy!

It's no joke!    

He fires question marks eyes at me and gets all sad if I don't tell him to do something.  If he can't see my face he's much more likely to wander off on his own ....... but once he's spotted me, I've had it!  Genibo has no ball or toy to focus on, so you're kind of their main source of entertainment!
