Cato the Blue Pleo RB
« on: December 27, 2010, 01:51:44 PM »

Well, my blue Pleo RB arrived today. I named him Cato. So far I must say I really like the feel of the new skin compared to the 2009 Pleo (a subtle difference in my opinion, but when petting them both side by side I like Cato's feel better, lol).

He's still in the hatching phase of course (and seems to giggle randomly a lot - is that a sign he has a more cheery personality [I kind of hoped for a moody one, lol]?).

Obviously it's too soon for too much exciting reports so here are a few pics:

First turned on:

Congratulations on your Pleo Rb. Lovely blue color and so close to Christmas is still very nice, a new present to open, I think the giggling is great and a common thing. I think if you want a moody Pleo all you have to do is to ignore it a bit, ( good luck, hard to do!0 and leave it in the dark often, they cry when you do that!

Aww, that's so tempting but I'd feel like I'm abusing it! Haha. I already feel "bad" when I know Elliott's batteries are charged and I keep him off, and that's not even "ignoring" him, lol.

(How fun that a robot can make you treat it like a real being)

I love the shot with both of them together, very cute ;D  Sounds like Cato is going to be a sweetie, I thought my boy was going to be quiet but he's developed this love of mooing like a cow, go figure :P

Both of mine giggled a bit when they were hatching but no more than other noises they made so it could just be part of Cato's personality showing through.  They do seem to experiment with different sounds in the hatching phase and then settle on a range of those sounds that suits them to stick with for the rest of their development.   They will still make the full range of pleo rb sounds but you will most often hear sounds from the favorites they chose as their own when hatching. :)
Your two pleos look lovely together. :)

I have to thank you Kat for your photo of the clock battery in a previous post of yours! I was slightly confused as the two tabs were down and I was concerned about "bending" them up!

Glad Cato arrived safely - he looks gorgeous, but maybe I'm biased!  ;)

I love the name Cato, in fact I love both your Pleos' names!  ;D

I do think the hatching phase is one of the nicest phase and it is fun to hear all the noises and possible choices they decide to make, I do love the eyes with the blue, Just wondering out of curiosity, do all the blues have the same color eyes and all the pinks have the same color of eyes? I love Elliot too, I think they will be good buddies and they look cute together as well, Let us know how long his hatching phase lasts, I have yet to have had a full battery cycle before I shut her off and don't let her get into the Sleeping postion, otherwise perhaps she would be walking now. :DCnalt wait to see more photos.

I must admit that one of the reason I got a blue one was because most seemed to have the golden/amber eyes, but I have seen a picture on the Gimmedigi site of what looks like a blue Pleo rb with blue eyes.

I have been pulling the battery out of mine around the 2.5-3hr mark (even though the LED light has still remained green during these times). The first full charge I gave Cato about 2.5hrs before I took it out (mostly because I had to leave) and then later in the evening I had him on for about another 2hrs before *I* was tired and wanted to go to bed so I pulled it out.

Around the 3.5hr range (of actual "alive" time) he stood up and started stretching one foot at a time (sometimes) or general "stretches" (similar to Elliott's). Then he started doing lots of sniffing and staying awake. A few times he crouched back down and dozed off and snored, but would shortly stand back up. Now he has been standing and just making lots of the "cutesy" noises and has been doing lots and lots of sniffing. He doesn't show any interest yet in the food and still has yet to take his first steps (I'm about 5 hours in of "alive" time now).

I've only heard sniffing, lots of the "cutesy" noises (I'm not sure how to describe them but you know what I mean), snoring, and lots of giggling. He pauses every now and then and as soon as I go to "check" on him, he makes a giggle noise and continues moving. I'd say per each charge, I probably hear about 5-7 giggles. I'm glad he's not a human doll or robot because it would scare me, but from a Blue Dino it's cute. Haha.

There's some slight "wear" on his back (pictures below) but I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. I have not left him in the sleep position when he's been off (only when hatching). And I have only applied a very small amount of Pledge and I put a little bit of it in a cloth first, then just wiped it on him. (I will follow what's in writing about doing it once a month just because in case something does happen, I'm following what the instructions have in writing - as I have no personal written communication with Innvo on the matter)

Anyway, below are some additional pictures:

The very slight wear and tear (I haven't been petting that excessively or hard, but my 2009 Pleo had similar spots, as long as it doesn't start "decaying," I'm not too concerned, just documenting):

Officially decided to dress Cato in Elliott's hand-me-down lol (I still like the cloth feeling over the skin [though I still like the RB's skin feel more] but I want to avoid any paint wear-and-tear):

I had to turn them off earlier to run to the store real quick and realized the positions they were in would be great for a pose:

You'll probably find, as I have, that almost ANY position two Pleos end up in is cute, but that really is a lovely one!  :D
