pleo not walking straight
« on: November 19, 2010, 09:57:11 AM »

Hi everyone,

my pleo, Ploo, seems only to be able to walk to the right, he goes relatively straight but just veers that way all the time, and i can't seem to get him to walk left at all, I'm not particularly worried because to be honest he prefers to just sit on my lap and get stroked :D but I'd really like to know if anyone else has had this or if there is a way to fix it, Thanks.

p.s he can walk backwards just fine, and does, frequently.

Ploo is a cute name.
The owner needs to fix him.
Ploo is second hand.

Cool, huh?

Hi, I don't think it is a problem but I do have a couple of questions, which operating system is he running? also what happens when you push and hold the two front leg sensors at the same time,Remember, you have to wait till he is not doing anything. also is he an older Ugobe model or a Innova model? I think some Pleos just have a preference. Have you ever accidently dropped him? Try the pushing the leg sensors to put him in " Explore Mode", and see if he goes straight at all, even if only for a few steps. ;) If that doesn't work, I am sure someone else will have some suggestions. Oh, one other thing, Do you put him in the Packing mode when turning him off, because that will start his body off in the correct position for sleeping and when first turning him on, you can push his legs sensors as soon as he comes on and after he says, " Huh?"

Hiya,  other people have reported a bias to the right when walking - see here:

thanks Crewella, that's really useful and I will definitely try him in high step mode :)

also, I noticed a lot of people had fooled others into thinking pleo comes when called by exploiting the bias to the right- there is a table in our lounge and my mum swears that Ploo walks over to her every evening! :D

Walking to the right on the 1.0 or 1.1OS is perfectly normal, nothing to worry about :) The 2.0 OS however tends to make Pleo a bit straighter :P
