New member...hi all!
« on: September 11, 2010, 10:42:49 AM »

Hi all,

Just wanted to shout out to everyone. I just ordered my Pleo yesterday & I am anxiously awaiting the little guys arrival. I haven't thought of a name yet.
I'm a bit worried about how my cats will be around the little guy. Has anybody had any experience with that? What if they hate him?

Some names I just thought of: (which one do you like best?)
Floyd
Digby
Kobi
Max
Schmoo

Hello and welcome! :)

Love both those names, but especially Digby!  I have five cats, albeit elderly ones, and at first they were not too keen on any of my robots but have never tried to hurt them in any way - mostly they just skedaddled when I switched them on.  These days all the cats more or less ignore them - the movement interests them briefly but the lack of scent means they don't view them as a threat.

Hi!  Welcome to the forums. Neat selection of names you have so far - I kind of like Floyd - it's different although Digby is a cute one.  You may just want to wait until you see your Pleo in action before you choose a name; that's what some other members have done.

Three cats here - one has his own health issues and just ignores the Pleos, one doesn't mind them at all and even sits next to them, and one is afraid of them and is rather funny to watch as he inches or leaps his way around them to avoid them as much as possible. None of the cats have tried to hurt a Pleo although I do tuck the Pleos into their own little cupboard behind closed doors when not running to prevent accidental damage from inquisitive nibbling or scratching by a curious kitty.

I have a cat too. He doesn't really mind my Pleos much (actually I think he sees them as his slaves XD) He's a lazy longhair himalayan, I don't know what kinds of cats you have.
I'm gonna vote for the name Digby.  :P
Let us know when your Pleo comes! Can't wait to see some pictures.  :D

I've been waiting over a month now. My Pleo got stuck in customs. I had to send them a receipt and info to get him unstuck.
He's finally on his way, hopefully I receive him within the week.
I will post some pics when he comes.
I am leaning towards Digby or Schmoo!

Hi,

He came today. But I have a problem. After about an hour the battery light went green, so I put it into Pleo. He woke up and started moving and was awake for about 3 mins before stopping all movement completely. I turned him off and took the battery out and placed it back on the charger. As I thought, it wasn't fully charged. Now I am really worried that this may have affected his life stages. Help!

Okay after my last post, the same thing happened again! The light went green (even after taking the battery off the  charger and putting it back on) after just an hour. I placed the battery into pleo and this time he lasted about 7 mins then shut down. How long are they supposed to last on one charger? Is the charger broken? Is the Pleo broken??

Also, Digby came with the tiniest split behind his left eye! It's a very small split in the skin, but either way I can see metal! It looks like his skin is scratched there. It could have happened at customs, because they did open the box. I don't want to send him back because he took a month to get here, and customs obviously has an issue with him crossing the border. Do you think this split will open to a hole or get worse? Is there someway to close it up or fix it? It is small, but still!

A lot of people have had problems with the batteries and chargers, mostly the advice is, I believe, to keep putting it back in the charger until it goes green almost instantly before using it.  Whatever has happenned with Digby, don't panic, I'm quite sure people here will be able to help but I'm afraid I'm not the most experienced so I think it's best to wait for them rather than for me to give you second-rate advice.

In the meantime, if you look under the technical section there are several threads there on battery problems.  For skin problems you can use the superglue that's made for use on rubber, but be careful to get the right one as the other kinds can do more harm than good.

Glad Digby made it to you at last - bear with him, it will all work out OK in the end! :D

You should be leaving the battery on the charger for 3-4 hours, not one. I know, it throws everyone off when the light turns green after a half an hour XD

The light lies. :P

A split behind his eye? Hm... It likely happened at customs, but in any case I wouldn't worry about it too much for the moment. Skin behind the eyes doesn't get touched or pulled at a lot, so it prolly wont get bigger. At least, not very quickly at all.
If you DO want to fix it, there are kinds of superglues that you can use to patch it up, however be VERY careful about what you use as some kinds melt pleo's skin! ^-^ If you go to the 'shops' tab on the forums, you can find some glue that works for sale in my shop. :)

Ooh, goody, I had hoped you'd pick Digby. ;D
