I just ordered an Automatic cat litter box/ toilet
It's the catgenie. Is it a robot or just an appliance?

Anyway very curious what it will look and sound like in real life and what lodewijk will think of it.

I hope he takes to it. imagine spending almost $300 and the cat won't have a thing to do with it....

anyone here ever hear about the catgenie?

 Hi Meks, boy is your kitty lucky, that is a lot of money to spend on a " toilet box".  ;DIf I had the time and some smart cats, I would just train them to use the toilet, which cats can and have done, Yes, I have seen and looked at the Cat Genie, but could not afford it, with nine cats and one dog, vet bills take the top priority, after food of course.
    The one thing I have heard and read about is that they are " very noisy", other than that, you should read the reviews of what other people who have purchased this item think, The pros are I guess no scooping, but the cons are very noisy, ( till you get used to it) the expense, and occasionally, it malfunctions and you still have to do a " deep clean". ( nothing is food proof you see.) I have a freind who has 13 cats, and she had one once but didn't like it and was too expensive. I think with one of two cats if you can get used to the noise, and you put it in a OUt of the way spot, then you have the best bet.
        The biggest thing is how your kitty is going to react to it. Yes degers is right, it is an electronic device, not a robot.Even if it could talk back to you, or better yet, tell the cat everytime it used it, " ok, now you can go, you dirty boy, Good Girl, that is a good girl, Well done, That was Stinky! You have got to be kidding, Bring out the Air freshners, or my favorite, Pee Yew! ) That would be so funny to see the reactions on some poor kitty's face, they may not go back to use it ever again, or just spray on it to mark their territory!

I hope you decided on the right automated cat box for your cat There's plenty on the market, some cheaper than others. Does it come with any sort of guarantee? Just in case Cats can be so sensitive about their litter.

 I dont know about having an " automated cat", but believe me, I have a cat that has Automatic automated poop already, I mean I am the automated Robotic maid around here, and I scoop at least four or five times a day and I automate feed my oldest feline,( a tortie female who was born either in 93 or 94, making her either 16 or 17 years old...) like clockwork, she wakes me up at 4;30-5;30 a.m, , then back to bed, then she wakes me again at 6:30, 7:30-8;00 a.m, 9;30-10;00 a.m she eats again, then finally she goes to sleep till about 12:00-1;00 p.m, and it is back to every 2 hrs to eat untill bedtime, sometime between 12;30-2;99 a.m, for me, then the whole routine starts again. ( I am worn out, but I know she is getting very old, she is very thin and probably either hyperthryoid, kidney disease or Diabetes,  so at her age, she gets what she wants as I can't afford to have her losing anymore weight right now, and with eight other cats and a dog, I am spreading myself out the best I can.
           I wish they had a automated cat feeder, a robot for me when I am sleeping, now that is priceless and I would pay for that. I lose so much sleep, but have to do what it takes to feed my little tortie when she is hungry, she eats, she may not have that many years left, and food is a little to give and sleep a little to lose when you look at all the love these furry babies have to give in return.

 IMR, just had a very strange thought ^-^what if our Pleos were so advanced, that after a certain number of hours of " being on" they produced " automated" poop as a small file that you had to remove from their " backside, and opening" or the Pleos would get SICK, BACKED UP WITH NOT ENOUGH MEMORY, OR STALE FILES, ETC. everyone has to have their insides cleaned out occasionally, and Pleos are no exception , you never know what could happen in the future....They could even sell Pleo Cleansing Kits, with little minuatue brushes to clean out their insides, after removing old files, like cleaning a computer with Dust type cans, unclogs everything.LOL Ok, enough fun, see how your imagnation can run wildwhen you live in the Redwoods
surrounded by Bigfoot, nine cats and very little human contact!(  I NEED SOCIALIZATION AND THIS IS WHAT I USE THE FORUMS FOR, FOR HUMAN CONTACT)

RWM you can get automated cat feed dispensers Just do a quick search on google but look for the ones which you can set with a timer not the ones the cat self operates.

Automatic cat box cleaner? I could use one of those. I think my grandma actually has one (being a crazy cat lady who is in possesion of literally nineteen cats calls for more necessities. XD) but she lives a ways away and I really don't know.

I've been researching them and it seems the automated ones often have bad reviews so I do hope you are buying from a reputable company, That said I found a non automated design called the roll n' clean which looks promising so I will be purchasing one for my kitties it works by tilting it and running the litter through a filter, it had pretty good reviews so I'll try it lol. The automatic ones look nice but wow I don't think I could justify the cost just for my two cats.

 IMR, thanks for the thought of the " automated cat feeders", I do have one of those, but have not used it much lately, as my dog Meh_lei  getting too big ( around the middle) and I try to put cat food where she does not have access to the cat's food. She is a Lab Mix, a female who went two  1/2 years ago from a weight of about 38 pds to her Dr. appt this week for Rabies, she weighs now 60 Pds! As for why I don['t use the automated cat food is because of several things, mostly being that I have a older Tortie female, Aiffa, who is between 16-17 years old, and is very frail, thin. She is  constantly hungry, and is very very hard to feed. She seldom wants to eat dry kibble and after doing research on what dry kibble contains, ( much to long to go into here, but if you look on-line or read some good Natural Health Cat books, you would be shocked at what CAN and DOES GO INTO DRY KIBBLE AS FAR AS " PROTEIN',REALLY DISGUSTING EVEN MANY OF THE SO CALLED, VETERNARIAN APPROVED AND RECCOMENDED BRANDS ARE NOT AS GOOD AS YOU WOULD THINK.......) ANYWAY, She is getting extremely hard to please and I basically have to give her fresh fish or chicken I have already cooked or if I am really tired, ( and at 4;30-6;00 a.m, I AM!) open a can of food, sometimes it takes 2-3 cans till I find the flavor she wants to eat...very frustrating to say the least!) I also have another cat that since born, will only eat fresh or canned food, will not eat dry kibble no matter what, even if he hasn't eaten all day, he will starve before he eats dry kibble!) So with nine cats and three of them on special diets, { my other rescue Karl Kat had all his teeth pulled out due to Severe Stomatitis,  and he can only eat soft foods, though he sometimes tries to eat dry, but it is difficult and very messy, slobbery saliva everywhere YUK>>>>>) I just have to get up and take care of everyone's different needs.   If they had automatic fresh cat food dispensers, then that may be an idea, but then I would be troubled with ANTS and they detect food , one crumb within 15 minutes if there is a crumb, they dispense the soldiers and I have been invaded, they come in from under my back porch door, and after waking up screaming with an ant that was in my ear canal a few months ago, I dread ants terribly, not even sleeping in my bed the last couple of months, ( another story ) Anyway, thank you so much for the suggestion, it just wont help me as long as I have so many cats and a husband who does none of the feeding and I am the one responsible for feeding, cleaning boxes, vet bills, etc. It is a wonderful thought though, Now if they just had an automatic cat bowl washer, I must wash cat bowls at least four times a day, Oh yeah, some people have dishwasher, but not me, I am the Automatic Dish washer, and my hands can prove it!

Meks, when you get this automated cat litter cleaning box, give it a test for a week or so and let us know how your kitty and YOU like it, pros and cons, etc.      Good luck with it, Just shows that you really are an animal lover and take good care of your babies, Your babies must all love you very much!

Thing is lodewijk has to wait a bit for his  littermachinething. 

Someone reminded me I had a bill to pay or they would come and empty my house in search of hidden treasures worth the money I owed.
Darn, there goes the cat toilet, to make up for it I am picking up a pet fountain this afternoon. Hey, the Big guy turned 8  and he deserves a birthday gift.

I will setup my videogear and make an unboxing/ setup video and try to capture my lifestocks first looks at the fountain.

I've looked into those litter machine/robot things as well, but knowing how much my cats hate the hoover and ANYTHING electrical, I can't see them going for it, so I'm stuck wielding the the pooper-scooper!

Much sympathy to RWM, my eldest cat, Giddy, is 18 and a tortie as well, and is similarly frail and fussy.

Knowing my cats they would be far more interested in the box than the fountain And my little Miss just loves playing with water in the bath (as long as she only gets a paw wet ) so she'd be delighted by splashing water everywhere I wonder if they have a battery operated version, my dad would have a fit if I said my Kitties needed an electric fountain

 Meks, very nice video, I had to say I laughed at least four times probably more, You sound very funny, in a good way that is! I like the way you said, blah blah blah and just instructions tossing them aside, who needs instructions. IMR is right, kitties allways love boxes. My cat Aiffa the tortie Matriarch whom is about 16-17 years old is CONSTANTLY DRINKING WATER ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT, she would LOVE THIS. Cats love running water anyway, it is fresh to them, that is why so many cats insist on drinking out of bathtubs and faucets in the sink. The carbon is supposed to filter out inpurities in the water, make it better tasting.
          How much is 50 Euros in U.S. currency, do you know? The only think we still need to see is your kitties reaction, when is his birthday,? Maybe you can do a quick video of him drinking from his birthday fountain?I think Lodewijk will certainly like this. ( Just remember Meks, water only for cats, ok? LOL)
 Oh, I caught a quick glimpse of some colorful tatoos on your arm, but couldn't quite make out what it was, I am sure it was not George the Pleo though!
