Well, apparently, wombats have a distinctive cube-shaped dung.  The flat sided shape helps it stay in place when the wombat uses it to mark it's territory.  The wombat likes to put the dung on top of things . . .

I love wombats but sadly they often fall victims to trucks on the roads at night, sometimes tourist stop to take pictures of them. (eww)

Once where I used to live we came across some American tourists who had stop to take a picture of a big one that had died, they were all panicky because they thought we were going to arrest them for killing a native animal, my dad totally played up to the act and told them that they'd better be careful because the mother might be still around and she could be two meters tall....... Never seen tourist take off so fast :D

So somewhere in America is a couple of tourist who have a mortal fear of cow sized wombats :P

Actually, there are a lot of American tourists who are quite brave.  I remember seeing a tourist in Yosemite with about 5 grand worth of Hasselblad equipment, (this was back in the late 60's,) taking  a picture of a black bear cub up in a tree from six feet away.  He practically had the lens in the baby bears snout.  I seriously considered going over to him and asking if he wouldn't mind willing his camera equipment to me but I didn't want to risk my life in case mama was around.  I guess that's why the locals called tourists, TURKEYS!!!! ::)  (In reality, it's an unfair name.  The bird is much more sophisticated and intelligent. ;)

Sorry, not too good with history, but Ir emember someone famous wanted the turkey to be the national bird.... Was it Benjamin Franklin?  :-[

I honestly don't know, and feel embarassed.

And wow, we're getting off topic.

Yep, ol' Ben wanted the turkey over the eagle.  But wild turkeys are a lot better animal than the domestic bird.

There are so many wild turkeys here. I wouldn't be surprised if some made it a Thanksgiving table or two :(

I don't think the wild turkeys have too much present care as November is a ways off.  And besides, those who would want an exotic bird for Thanksgiving would probably opt for a turducken instead, and a whole lot easier to "catch." ;)

Turducken is a Cajun delight that is becoming popular.  It is a chicken stuffed in a duck and the duck stuffed in a turkey.  Hence, turkey...duck...chicken.  Turducken! ;D

Without having an sd card with the Watchdog mode on it, I would say they are both difficult to do. I think I'd be able to do a turducken quicker.  ;D

How do they relate?  Well, after you finish eating the turkducken, you're likely to end up sitting around in a daze, like your pleo does in watchdog mode. ;)

....To further the excessive ramblings about nothing.....The only thing I know about artichokes is they come in a little jar, and ***sometimes (if i'm feeling risky) they'll be on a frozen pizza or any Italian food for that matter.

My mom taught me how to prepare artichokes a long time ago. She would soak them in water with salt first to get any little critters hiding in them out. Pour out the water and boil new water with or without salt. Now a days you just need to rinse them unless they are organic.
There's a very sharp sticker on the point of the leaves, it's best to use scissors and cut the points off. They are sooo sharp.
I know people microwave them but I still boil them. There's a stem that is at the top of the artichoke. When cooked you can stick a fork easily in it. I pull off a leaf to to see if it is finished, too.
After draining the water out of the artichoke you can eat them hot or refrigerate and eat them cold.
They are great both ways.
Some people like to dip the meaty part of the leaf in butter. I love mayonaise. Then you pull the leaf between your teeth to scrape the meat off with your bottom teeth. Sounds gross but is so good. Yum!
The very center leaves aren't edible. Toss them! Now you are down to the heart. The best part. After cleaning out the fuzz in the center, with a spoon, you, definitely, don't want to eat the fuzz. Choke, Choke!! However, they weren't named for that reason. ;)  You are left with a nice round concaved meaty center.
Can't buy this in a jar.

I don't like anchovies. I meant artichokes! Yes, that's what they look like, but I'm more familiar with Vigo's artichokes in a jar. And yes, in our house we put them on Italian food items.

Boy! Fancyfont, yours sure sounds A LOT better than mine! Awesome story thanks for sharing!
