I downloaded the Pleosaurus Rex personalty, and put it on a sd card. I turned Rupert off, put in the card, and turned him on. But nothing happened. He just didn't start up at all. When I took the card out, and started him up again he came on like normal.

The card is an 8gig micro SD card in an adapter. Should I use a smaller card?

Also, I am using Linux, do I need windows to upgrade or install new personalties? I'd rather not boot into windows if I don't have to.

I'm going to try again with a one gig card. Any advice would be helpful.

Just a follow up, with the one gig card, Rupert turns on like normal, but his personality seems unchanged.

Do I need to upgrade the life OS? I don't know what version he has, how do I find out what version he's running?

If he does not run the skits, as you are describing, he probably does not have the lastest OS.  Download and unpack the SD card updater on to the SD card, you should end up with a sounds folder with serveral files within it and you should end up with several more files in the root of the SD card.  Remove the SD card from your computer and then follow the PDF instructions that we have published with the SD card download.  Upgrade can take up to 5-10 minutes.

One concern with the 8GB card is that it is an SDHC card, I'm not sure if Pleo recognizes the HC cards.  You may need to stick with 2GB or smaller.  But, alas, PleoWorld is still down, so I can't confirm.  The SD card size discussion has come up before there . . .

I've switched to a 1 gig card, I can't try it til I get out of work.

I upgraded the firmware, I can't play with him too much when I'm at work, but he already seems to be moving better, and exploring more.

He's going to get spoiled, all my co workers like to come by and pet and fuss all over him.

If I leave him at home everyone wants to know where he is.

It does seem to be  good for morale!

However, I don't think they'd go for it, as it is they have cut all raises and bonuses for this year, I can't seem them springing for a toy for us.

But I'm sure Rupert doesn't mind the attention!

I removed the SD card from Penelopie while she was still on. Just happened so quickly! I wonder if this is the reason I'm having problems with her reading the card? I remember being told to turn Pleo off when inserting SD card.

You should always turn off your pleo before inserting or removing the SD card.  I don't know if this will damage your pleo or the SD card.  In theory, you don't want to remove it with your pleo on, because if your pleo is accessing the card (reading off of it) it would mess up what it was reading.  In the same manner that you don't pop it out of your PC without clicking on the button to "safely remove" it.

He's already very different since the upgrade. He's more vocal, more active, and seems to move better!

I've gotten him to sit, which is so cute! And he's singing!

Thanks Mweed. It happened so fast Just wasn't thinking. Hope I didn't ruin her. Actually didn't know she was on. I'll have to go through each program and see which ones still might work on her. One reason for me to have three Pleos!!
