Mr Dotson told me that they'll show some new life forms at the end of 2009, but the release is planning for christmas 2010.

New life forms will be great. But, I hope as they do a new OS they make it available to update our current little guys,.

They are planning to update the OS, but first they have to hire back all the old Ugobe programmers!

New Life forms are always an interesting and exciting time. There is a catch 22 though.
Money spent towards new life forms may take away from Pleos and their development. $:-\$

Some (few) new life forms along with development of the Pleo platform seems preferable.
Certainly a companion bot is something I would save for.

It is great to see how Pleo sales have kept growing.
BTW I just saw Pleos for $211.00 Canadian (about $200.00 US even.) at Robotshop.ca.
I'm very tempted to but a brother or Sister for Stoney.

Just how sure is the release of the new version Pleo and for how much??

Production of the next gen pleo is already underway. Should hit the streets in a month. As Derek said, once the stores carrying the existing models sell out, sales are supposed to go to PleoWorld only.

Ugobe was working on different life forms before the bankruptcy, a friend who was working at Ugobe labs told me that one of this life forms was a little critter called Robbie, an alien-like pet with fur (like Furby) with an eye on the head

From the description i think they were workin on a cheap life form, more affordable than Pleo.
This rumor is true, but there arent video or photos of Robbie!

Just saw that post from JR, that makes me think of furby far to much for comfort i sure hope brain power is a big aim for new life forms as it was originally for pleo.

A return to critters with little to no brain power will be very disappointing!

Being able to communicate in some form with their Pleo counterparts is a must!

I to love the idea of an alien, this is what made furby easy to like and even Pleo to a certain extent. It's the unknown, new life forms bring with them no preconceived notions like for example a robot cat would.

Gizmo is actually a Mogwai

There's already a furby-like version of him which came out a few years back which was made by Tiger/Hasbro. You can find them on Evil Bay and are quite collectible mint in box.

I remember a couple of years back i saved on of those cute lil Gizmo's from a charity shop there so cute. Did you know they made the Mogwai version of Furby because tiger got a law suit filed over how much the original looked like a Mogwai, it was how they made up for it.
