As Pleo has an infra red sensor on his nose, has anyone tried to control him using something like a TV remote?

I suppose we just need to find out what signals he responds to and generate them using the IR port on a laptop or mobile phone.

Of course I have absolutely no idea how to do that, but it should just be a case of setting the port up with the correct speed and handshaking and then sending binary numbers to the port.  Then using a 'training' function on an universal TV remote to memorise the output we should be able to click 'sit' or 'balance' or 'sing' or ' sleep' or walk' or...

Or I could be talking out of my hat. ^-^

I vaguely remember some people on Pleoworld, a long time ago, saying their pleos turned TV or stereos off or was it on?

Ooooh, I've just had an idea.  If Pleo sends out infra red signals in the hopes of stimulating a fellow Pleo, then I should be able to 'memorise' his output and play it back to him as if I were a fellow Pleo ^-^.

Where's that learning remote?

I used to have a PDA that could do that. Haven't noticed Pleo making a difference. (I'll have to point Jade towards all the electronics to see if she can turn them on with her feminine ways. ;))

Pleo doesn't run on a remote control; he runs on a system called LifeOS.  That's what makes him so real.

Pleo only uses the Infrared port to talk to other pleos.  Without rewriting the OS, there is no way to control pleo via the IR port.

But that's the point.  if Pleo uses IR to talk to other Pleos, me must be transmitting and receiving.  if we can capture what he's transmitting and play it back, it would be like him seeing another Pleo.
