Need reset Script
«
on:
January 05, 2009, 03:09:08 PM »
My (used) Pleo is in the mail and should be here this week! Does anyone have the script to reset it to factory settings and the instructions?
I know the info I need is on the Pleoworld forums, but they are still down! I was able to register for an account, so maybe they will be back before it get's here.
I really want to start with the hatching!!

Hehe you're welcome, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope for a swift return of pleoworld!

Sadly, you can't reset Pleo.

You can. It's not official, but it can be done. I'm kicking myself for not saving the info when it was still up. Maybe the fourms will be back up soon. I found someone else who had a reset script, but he can't give it out. :-(
Oh well, even if I can't reset, mines hardly been used, so it's still a baby.

Allosaurus, pleo can be unofficially reset by deleting the 'properties' and 'drives' files from the internal flash memory. Aibohack(pleopet) has written a script to perform this task however since the forums went down I have been unable to get the link.

If my thoughts are straight (which I doubt they are XD), there will be remnants of Pleo's previous life left inside the reset Pleo.
True?

No, all that changes are the PM_props and PM_drives files.

As far as I know it's like new, but I believe there are some risks involved as well. But I'm pretty tech savvy, so I'm not worried about hacking around with it.
From what I understand, my pleo's last owner didn't use it much, and didn't really play with it, so I'd be worried about it being shy or scared of people from neglect.
Either way, I'm sure I'll love it just the same.

The "reset" feature aibohack posted back in March of 2008 was as follows:
1. Make sure you have a blank SD card.
2. Create an ASCII text file called "
automon.txt
" in the top folder (root) of the SD card.
3. Enter these five lines into the text file:
Code:
access 3
copy b:pm_props a:pm_props.bak
copy b:pm_drives a:pm_drives.bak
rm b:pm_props
rm b:pm_drives
4. With your pleo turned off, insert the card, then turn your pleo on.
The script should copy two files onto the SD card (just in case), then remove them from your pleo.
5. After a couple of minutes, turn your pleo off and remove the SD card.
When you turn your pleo back on, he should start over form the hatching phase!
WARNING!!!
I have never tried this, and can't vouch for it's accuracy. Basic programming says it makes sense, but use at your own risk! Running scripts like this could permanently damage your pleo! I claim nor offer any responsibility for this script or what actions may come from its use.
Also note, a previous poster in the "dead pleo" topic has claimed that the rm command was disabled in the LifeOS1.1 version. This script was written prior to the LifeOS1.1 being released, so it may not work.
Good luck!
