A sneak peek...
« on: June 12, 2009, 10:52:45 PM »

Introducing the PleoWear range of clothing...

Please note:

These are my prototypes, the actual garments that I will be selling will not have black thread on light materials (that was just so I could check stitch width/tension/style etc).

The garments in the pictures do not have the edges done yet, I am still experimenting with various types of edging or a plain hem.

The dress will not stick out quite so much after it has been 'worn in' and it will have a ribbon to tie over the back.

The hoodie (yellow garment) does fit over the head, but I don't recommend using in that manner, it would restrict the neck and could cause damage, a warning will be included with the garment.

The plain vest will be $20 AU postage included, the other two will be $25 AU postage included since they use much more material and take longer to make. The current exchange rates make that around $16 US and $20 US respectively. This includes the postage average shipping times overseas are around 14 days but can take as long as 3 weeks, this is beyond my control, sorry.

Each outfit will come with matching booties, however the booties will be partially hand sewn, due to their fiddly nature it is actually easier to do them by hand.

Each garment has two velcro tabs, one on each side of the body.

I will place an ad on the marketplace board once everything is finalized. (With Mweed's permission of course)

Comments/suggestions more than welcome, and color suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I love the dress, the hoodie, and the little vest. Okay maybe I just love them all.  :P I'm already tempted to buy a dress for Mischief, she demands to be the top of Pleo Fashions. And we all know you can't say 'no' to that face.

Love! Love! Love! Love! Love!

My only concern is, I'd prefer to see some support under the tail and behind the rear. *would be my preference*

i like them just how they are, without anything under their tails. They look like shirts and dresses right now, if you added any more cloth then it would look like the baby outfits that go all the way under.

The problem with doing a full body suit is of course that there has to be a way to get it on and off without having to resort to impossible Pleo gymnastics :P Which of course means that the velcro would have to be along the spine or at the very least along the side.

I will have some outfits ready to go on Monday :) Everyone here will get a sneak peek of course ;)

*sigh* more delays :( I am not happy with my new sewing machine and will be sending it back tomorrow. I sewed a couple of garments in different fabrics but the machine is dropping a lot of stitches and they look terrible. Although the good news is I cut out all the garments ready to go once my replacement machine arrives.

Don't you just turn it inside- out?  That what I did wen I sewed mine a shirt;).  So does not the stitching pattern matter unless it holds together?  It would be turned inside out anyway.

It does matter because I wouldn't be pleased with them and because some of the stitching would be seen, like on those blankets for instance (the pink and blue things with the clipped edges).

But my (next :P) new machine can't be far away :) Hopefully this one will be perfect :)

I currently have baby fleece, which works well for the hoodies, vests, blankets, dressing gowns, slippers and tracksuits (sweat suits). I have some cotton which works for the dresses, shirts and dress pants. I also have a little felt for the shoes, going to try a soft leather as well.

There are a few more things I need (some silk thread, work out a more efficient way to make the booties etc) but I will have some pictures up of two of the outfits by the end of today :)

So here's how it will work:

I will post the photos of outfits that I am happy with. (the fit, style etc)
You can order that exact outfit, or you can request that style in a different colour/pattern.
I will either make your outfit immediately if I have the materials or I will add your request to my next shopping day to find the closest match to the material you want, then make your garment.
Payment will need to made through Paypal.
I will send the item via international post.
1-3 weeks later your item arrives.

Also I will be keeping an eye out for bargain fabrics (ones on sale, discontinued lines etc) I will post pics of what I have available.

Ooops, should I have said all that ;)

As promised a piccy ;) The top Stitch is wearing was a dog coat pattern, it needs to be modified somewhat to fit properly as you can plainly see, I'll work on that tomorrow, it has matching pants as well. The dress Lilo is wearing is the final design.

Will I be able to buy it on this post?  ( I already have PayPal from using eBay;)) And if I see it's defected or some stitches are coming out (which I doubt because it looks like your a professional and expertise in this department :)) will I get to trade it in for another new clothing?

Will the edges be hemmed?  Are they machine washable?  Will that be in a notice you described you will put in the box?

Yes of course they will be hemmed I will post a finished one when I get home. I prefer hand washing but a gentle machine wash should be ok and yup I will send care instructions along with each :)
