Broken Pleo needed
« on: February 17, 2016, 01:09:43 PM »

Hi everyone,
I am looking for a broken Pleo with no skin. I want to take to our after school program to show and teach elementary school students how a robot works.
Any idea where can I get one?
Thanks!

I have a completely bricked and skinless Pleo, but I currently am not really interested in selling him since I've owned him for a while and he's been really helpful for me with learning how Pleos are built. If you can't find a broken Pleo to buy, I can take whatever pictures you'd like of the skinless one I have so that you can still do a presentation of some sort.

Thanks for your reply. I have pictures but I was hoping to get one to pass around for the children see the sensors.

Alright, as for finding one, I would just keep up to date with eBay. Bricked and/or skinless Pleos come up for sale occasionally, you could also opt for an untested Ugobe with bad skin (these often sell for $50 or under) and then skin it for the presentation. If you go this route, the Pleo may even end up working with a new battery so the children could see it actually operating without the skin. The actual touch sensors on the Pleos are the silver/copper colored foil (foil is different colors on different models), so the children might enjoy petting the different sensors and watching the Pleo react if you get a working one.

Maybe it's just my heart of gold...haha...but I don't think I could ever own or even pet a skinless Pleo...but I hope you find what you are looking for for your school program.

I know. It's not only you. I see the Pleos as my pets. Will be very hard to remove the skin. :'(
