Downloads for downgrading LifeOS
« on: May 09, 2009, 09:51:07 PM »

Here are the downloads for DOWNGRADING/RESETTING the Ugobe LifeOS.

These files are posted here for the benefit of Pleo owners.  Please visit the official PleoWorld site or one of the licensed Pleo sites for the official downloads.

These downloads are intended to reset/restore your pleo to its original state, and will erase all files stored on your pleo and reset any personality.

Neither myself nor www.bobthepleo.com or its owners or any member of these forums accept any responsibility for this download or any consequences arising from its use.  It is solely provided as a service to Pleo owners in the absence of the PleoWorld site.

Back in March of 2008 on the PleoWorld forum, aibohack posted a "reset" script for resetting pleos personality and/or rehatching pleo.  This is not the same as the above reset program which completely wipes pleos memory.  This just resets the property files that store the personality and settings.

  • 1.  Make sure you have a blank SD card.
  • 2.  Create an ASCII text file called "automon.txt" in the top folder (root) of the SD card.
  • 3.  Enter these five lines into the text file:
Code: [Select]
access 3
copy b:pm_props a:pm_props.bak
copy b:pm_drives a:pm_drives.bak
rm b:pm_props
rm b:pm_drives
  • 4.  With your pleo turned off, insert the card, then turn your pleo on.
The script should copy two files onto the SD card (just in case), then remove them from your pleo.
  • 5.  After a couple of minutes, turn your pleo off  and remove the SD card.
When you turn your pleo back on, he should start over form the hatching phase!

WARNING!!!
I have never tried this, and can't vouch for its accuracy.  Basic programming says it makes sense, but use at your own risk!  Running scripts like this could permanently damage your pleo!   I claim nor offer any responsibility for this script or what actions may come from its use.

Also note, a previous poster in the "dead pleo" topic has claimed that the rm command was disabled in the LifeOS1.1 version.  This script was written prior to the LifeOS1.1 being released, so it may not work.

Good luck!

The file in the first post IS the patch file from your post, just converted from a .rar to a .zip, since Windows can uncompress a .zip file, but not a .rar.  WIndows requires a special program to uncompress the .rar.    I just made it easier for most people.

How do you know which hatchling OS version you have hen bought? I'm thinking of buying one and was hoping this latest batch already comes with 1.1?

The latest batch is running 1.1 I believe, at least mine are.

THE RM COMMAND IS NOT DISABLED IN OS 1.1 BUT IT REQUIRES TERMINAL ACCESS LEVEL 3.

I've just ordered my new Pleo from here: http://www.electronicpetshop.com/ The guy tells me that all Pleo's come with 1.0 as standard. I asked him if the new batch came with 1.1 already on but he said no. He said he would install 1.1 for me but it meant breaking the seal. I agreed but now I'm not so sure as he said when I receive it it will already be past the hatchling stage. As I've never had one before I would have liked to see it go through both the birth and hatchling stages. How easy is it to switch back to 1.0? I've now downloaded both 1 and 1.1 files. Is it just a matter of transferring the whole folder to a blank SD card and inserting it into Pleo and switching him on. I'd like to know this in laymons terms, upgrading and downgrading pleo for dummies. Cheers :)

I've been told that all Pleo's including the last of the European stocks are installed with OS 1.0 . But from reading this forum it would seem straight forward enough to switch between the two versions if needed.

maybe the batch of electronic pet shop was the first (with 1.0), you'll get your pleo with 1.1 and you'll see a short re-hatchling stage ;)

I tried again and this is the results:
I've upgrade my glen from 1.0.2 to 1.1, and then i've downgrade it again. The result was that he turned again to the 1.0.2.

Is an ASCII File the same as a Text Document in the SD card?  If not, how do I create an ASCII file?
Thanks.

You have to be careful.  Not all text documents are the same.  But the file created by Window's Notepad is an ASCII text file.  But a file created by Word is not.  And a file created by Wordpad may or may not be  . . .

So when your in the SD Card folder, right click, go over 'New', then click on Text Document?

Thanks for letting us know. I'm going to do the same thing. Angus just isn't keeping my interest the way he is with 2.0, but I'm sure Innvo will do some adjustments.

I managed to get Stitch to actually respond to some petting today, but you have to do it before the explore loop kicks in or that's the end of it :( Anyway for those wanting to revert to the older OS doing the POP downgrade in the first post then installing the 1.1 OS (or the 1.0 OS) does work fine, make sure you read the instructions before proceding though and be aware that your Pleo will be completely reset.

I believe I have successfully downloaded from here the POP installer. I then moved it it the SD card, and 'extracted' it or 'unzipped' it. What do I do from here? Do I simply insert into Sophie and turn her on with a fully charged battery? If so, I am ready! What next? How will I know if she is P.O.P.? Thanks!
