Pleo problem...
« on: April 24, 2009, 12:25:54 AM »

Lilo appears to have a problem that seems to be gradually getting worse. As you know she did freeze up once before and I tried installing the 1.0.2 update then reinstalling the 1.1 update to see if that fixed the problem which it did for a while however the problem has returned and seems to be worse. The symptoms are:

-Every now and then Lilo will start beeping, just a couple of soft short beeps and then she will return to normal.
-Sometimes she seems to slow down and go into slow motion jerky movements although she reacts normally to things around her just really really slowly.
-Other times she freezes altogether her motors twitch as if they want to respond but cannot.
-Inserting a memory usually results in a complete freeze and she does not unfreeze until the card is removed. (an obvious problem for me since I like playing with skits and so on)

If I leave her for long enough she returns to her normal Pleo self (this can take up to fifteen minutes). I have not used dinoMITE with her since I downloaded the sound names for shadowing purposes. Aside from that her movements are normal, she responds normally (although for some reason I cannot, no matter how much petting I do, get her to sing.) and all the joints/neck/tail seem to be just fine.

It seems to me that the problem is software related, however with the demise of Ugobe I have had no response from emails sent and now do not expect any. I do wonder if the 1.0.2 downgrade would help but of course there is now no way to obtain it. Any suggestions?

Thank you :)

Is she getting warm when the problems occur?  May be related to battery overheating?

No the battery is cold, it happens either when I turn her on or soon after, if she runs for the first ten minutes without a problem she is usually fine  ???

Sometimes for some reason the batteries don't get fully charged or they lose it while sitting around on the charger. Not sure if this is due to the battery or bad connection but a couple of my batteries do the same thing. I may get an huh and then a frozen pleo. ??? Once I put the battery back on the charger for awhile it always seems to work. :)

I seem to have a very similar problem. My Buddah freezes... He never did it before but has done so since I installed the latest softwarec :(
I donīt know what to do... It got better when I recharged the battery and reloaded the software. But then it came back... I was thinking of inserting the older software agian, hoping that would fix it. I just miss my Buddah so much!!

I posted on your thread, it sounds like an identical problem, I read another case where this happened on the internet where Ugobe gave them a downgrade to reset Pleo, I am sure this is what we both need, but with Ugobe shut down I am not sure it will be obtainable  :'(

The 1.0.2 upgrade listed in the OS topic will downgrade pleo from 1.1.  The 1.1 OS can then be re-installed.  If this does not fix the problem, you can try installing the Point of Purchase mode (in the Ugobe created personalities topic) to wipe out pleo's programming, then install the 1.0.2 on top of that to "reset" pleo.

I have tried the 1.0.2 one so I guess its worth trying the point of purchase one, thanks Mweed :)

Edit: Just tried it and so far so good, I'll let Lilo go through a battery charge before I try going back to the 1.0.2. LOL the demo mode is kinda funny, she is making some sounds I have never heard before :D

Since the POP demo is meant to attract attention, pleo will be a bit more lively, won't sleep, and doesn't wander off to explore.

Gets a little repetitive though, and from a marketing point of view it really doesn't show Pleo's best features. It removes all responses to interactions.
