« on: October 05, 2012, 05:39:35 AM »

Hey Guys.

I have just been given a pleo to look at, as it doesnt seem to wake up.

Anyways its going to be a steep learning curve.

Hey guys.

A friend of mines sone was bought a pleo as a gift.
Unfortunately at the time he was too young so his mother put it in the loft.

Recently we took it out, but now the pleo seems just not to work.

It started with waking up, then going strat back to sleep.
I have updated the software, to PM2 and still doesnt work.

I have also noticed when he does move, his movements are extremely slow and slightly jerky.

I have checked the battery, and it seems to hold voltage at 8.2v.  Even after turning it on and leaving it on for a few hours it settles at 7.8.

Any ideas?

You need a new battery. Or you could try putting the battery on charge until it turns green, taking it off, putting it back on... Repeat for three-four hours.

Please don't ever try updating on a bad battery. You could have bricked your Pleo :(

The green batteries are very, very old and they don't like to be left sitting for long periods of time.

Hi thanks for your response.

I did notice initially the battery was only charging for 10 mins or so, then going green.
From experience with similar batteries, i did do the take of reseat thing, and now the battery charges for a few hours at a time.

Re updating, i know it was a risky move, but i checked the battery for a few days checking the voltage after leaving it in the pleo and the pleo being on.
It seemed fine :S

Thankfully, the pleo still comes on, although he keeps making a whooping noise whilst asleep.
I am so desperate to see this thing moving.

Hi, and welcome to the forums, hope our pleo wakes up soon or you become an owner in earnest. :)

Hey, CrazeUK!  I believe the Pleo RB is the newest model, though I heard something about a model called 2009.  I think that one may be older, though.

Hi,the Ugobe is the orignal, the 2009 next and the RB is the newest pleo out. Which Pleo do you have, it sounds like an Ugobe, If the battery is green it is either the Ugobe or 2009. Rb only take brown batteries, or a special battery that looks like the original but will have the date 2011 written on the bottom of it.                     RWM

In your other thread you mentioned twenty minutes, is he moving now?

I might merge these threads to make it a bit less confusing, my brain doesn't work well at 6am :P

If you have managed to get 20 mins of movement out of him your doing well with reconditioning the battery.  I would recommend that you think about getting a new battery for him.  If you do then go for the egg battery and charger.  They give you about 2 hours play time which is a lot more than you will ever get from a green one even when it's working to full capacity :)  I love my egg batteries :)
