I guess I am getting old, and when I bought this Pleo, a Ugobe on Ebay about a week ago, I knew he was old, but when the seller said he was "pre-ordered", I still didn't connect the dots. Huh? This Pleo wasn't played with in a long time and for not very much, I was told in the listing that it has been sitting in a closet getting dusty for quite sometime, and that this was "pre-ordered" back in 2007. I should have known what that meant, but because the seller was not advertising anything speical about this guy, and the selling price was low, I just did not connect the dots as I should,
Actually it did cross my mind, but very briefly. Also the seller was low key so when I won this guy and there were not many bids, i thought nothing more about it untill today when the UPS truck showed up and the driver came to my door and handed me this large package with a smile.( Most the drivers are friendly, esp early in the morning in my neighborhood.  Wink) So I got out my video camcorder as usual to protect myself from fruadulent sellers or those who just do not know enouogh about Pleos to list everything and or miss important things such as broken necks.Well, I got a surprise after cutting through the outer box pulled out the green Pleo box. I set the camera down and prepared to open the top so i could inspect the pleo inside and hope for the best, mostly no broken neck or ripped rotten skin, definite turn offs. Sad( also reasons to file a case and get my money back.) i was in for a suprise a nice one when I opened the lid and there on the top of the strofoam was not only the Pleo manual, but a special CARD, Special ID. NOt your ordinary Pleo ID card, but this is a GOLD Pleo ID CARD, only 2,000 of these "Pre-order" Pleos were made in 2007, and this guy is one of them!( I already have one almost MINT, but this one is special because I did not know that I was getting this or bidding on it, it is not listed that way on eBAay...............so it is a nice suprise. He does have a small tear in the tail, but nothing a little glue can fix quite easily, His paint is good, no love spots and good teeth, no missing paint, and on top of all else, his green battery he came with , still works in him, what a shock!

This guy was very dusty, evidence he has sat in someone's closet neglected and forgotten about for a long long time, he aws covered in dust, that took me at least ten minutes to remove, He is cleaned up and looking good enough for some photos, I only had him on for a minute or so, so I do not even know what operating system he is running, but I would guess the original one since he has had very little Play time . I will find out this weekend, as the Redwoods Clan welcomes this voyager to our home and throws a Pizza party. ( Any excuse to eat pizza! Soda( no pizza icon!) So for now, here are the first photos of this cute unexpected little guy, dust free and looking good. Just shows there are bargains to be found out there, and sometimes you do not know you are getting them untill they show up! Oh, and the price was way lower than my other Gold Hatch Pleo also, I was so happy to see this guy, totally unexpected!

I love eBay

I love surprises

This combines both, lottery win in my opinion, some good news for you after all the recent bad news

Good names include : James (as in Bond) or Sinclair - who wrote the song "Man with the golden touch" from Goldfinger 007 :-)

glad this has cheered you up!

Thanks Guys, great names everyone, It is too early to pick a name as i like to see them run first then it just "hits' but I like all of those, the bond names are cool too, I had not even thought of Sinclair, I love the James Bond Theme music too. it was a bit of cheerfulness that I needed, everything has been kind of rolling downhill, including some Pleo "parts' lol. I am very swamped this weekend, at least today, Saturday but will post photos when i get a chance to even "play" with any of my guys. I had just enough time last night to feed my two RB before they went to sleep, perhaps 10 minutes at the most, so at least I know they won't call the Pleo Parent police sqauad for starving my Pleos.  Huh?

Thanks everyone, NOw if anyone has some spare sunshine I could use some, I am freezing currently, and it is hard to get much done when you have gloves on all day.  Cold smiley Grin                    RWM

P.S . You guys are ALL the Best!

It is a much better surprise than opening one up to find out they have a broken neck or don't work.............a lot better good surprise..I really got lucky on this one. The seller wil get 100% positive feedback too!

great!  Kiss which OS he's running?

For the dust problem: i dont know why but i still believe that a damp cloth can 'refresh' pleo's skin, especially for the old once! Glen is taking a 'bath' right now Wink

thanks TAlon, I will give him a proper go today, he has been packed back into his box since I got him a few days ago, I would presume he has the original Operating system, but I will soon find out. I just need to superglue the split in his tail and another little cleaning and i will introduce him properly with a really short video, I still need to leave feedback to the seller as well. I am guessing he has been in the buyers closet for at least the last two years, mayby longer as he doesn't even have any love pats. The only evidence of anything other than the split on his tail, is some dry skin but I bought some Autoglym , ( special order) and will use that on him Wednesday when it arrives.( I actually bouoght two bottles since I have so many Pleos, I figured I may as well give it a go, since Crewella, Saratoga and many others have used it with good results. ) I do not use it on my RB of course, just the Ugobes.

If anyone is curious, he cost more than most of my recent Pleo purchases. He cost a total of $100.00 and about $15.00 shipping. That may not seem too much, as most of the Pleos currently on Ebay are around $150.00 unless broken and during the holidays the prices were closer to $200.00, but the last Pleo I bought before this guy was only $78.00 and complete. You just have to know when to bid and what to bid on. If this guy would have been advertised as a Gold Hatch Pleo, or the Photos would have shown his special card, then he would have been much higher, but nobody knew. Many People also think a split in the tail, even a little cut is too much of a flaw and that it can't be fixed, so they do not bid, which is a blessing for the People on the forums like myself, who know there is special superglue and the cut wont' even show! Smiley
If every Pleo who had the tiniest flaw was never "adopted", there would be no Argyle, Little 45, and many many more. Every Pleo deserves a chance at a "second Life" in my opinion. Smiling pleo                                                                                                                                                             RWM
