If anyone is interested in the egg charger base...

As far as I can tell they ship anywhere, certainly Australia came up as an option when I went through the checkout process (although I made no payment as yet), it is in German however you can use a translator for any parts you don't understand.

I used http://translation2.paralink.com/ but you can only do 500 words at a time so you may need to translate in bits

I am definitely going to buy one later on, or if my cradle has died

Thanks IMR. I looked into it. I remember it saying something about not compatible with Pleo though. IDK, I'll have my grandmother (born & raised in Germany) take a look and see what she can make of it. Thanks though, IMR.

I think they mean the batteries, you have to have the other batteries... although they look exactly the same as the spare one I bought here $:-\$

The egg charger is designed specifically for the LiPoly battery. The battery is white, to make it obviously different from the green one. The egg charger will not charge the green batteries, and the green cradle will not charge the white battery. Green charger => green battery, White egg charger => white battery.

The White LiPoly battery supposedly does have a longer running time . . .

Is it just that I am blind, or do they actually not have the LiIon battery itself? The egg cradle refers to the battery, including the supposed article number, but searching for the article number yields the cradle as the only hit. Their PDF pricelist doesn't even list the original pleo battery (which seems to be currently out of stock in any case) ...

So, it seems you can get a new cradle there, but no battery for it ... Pleos themselves are in stock, and also on sale ... And they do ship to the U.S. and other distant places

...

The Taiwan site ( www.ucube.com.tw ), also sells the egg charger and battery. But I could never get them to respond to a query.

It lists at $1400NT which is about $42US, which is a really good deal. But as I said, I've never been able to get them to respond to any inquiries. We need to find someone in Taiwan to help us . . .

Again, that's $13,000 in the New Taiwan Dollar. Exchange rate is about 34 to 1. That's about 380 US dollars.

Even for Aussies the exchange rates are great, I mean gee I paid fifty dollars for just a battery let alone fifty dollars for a battery AND the charger... But I can't work out how to actually order one lol

I bought my egg charger+battery online from Litec Computer (Germany) and i'll testing it these days. Yout Pleo will be more light with this battery and will work for 2 hours! (with 3h of power, for our bad economy)

The charger uses the plug (power supply and lead in cable) just plugged it into the egg charger. It also has a usb-port so one could charge via usb. The led on the charger is a bit 'non-intuitive', it flashes RED while charging and shines SOLID RED when the charging is complete. (Thanks June for this detail!)
