Yes it is really helpful having folks here who know this stuff as it's kind of difficult to figure it out on your own.. especially when you've never dealt with anything like this before.. I remember taking apart my first computer and making small programs when I was a kid but times have changed, lol..
Heres a few I was wondering about though, aibo7m3 , you said "The different personalities actually do not act differently. What personality they are has something to do with the skill levels. I think it's either something about their current skill levels or skill levels on mind 2 when they were upgraded to mind 3 (some information from the software is stored in the aibo with the ers-7s). Though I am not sure about this I think I heard it somewhere."
But didn't Sony sell ERS-7's with mind 3 installed, since I assume they were still selling the Aibo's at the time they made the upgrade? If so, then would those ERS-7's just have a random 'personality? Just curious. Bhobbes and I (and another member whose name may or may not rhyme with Brewella, who has a Sony memory card reader & an ers-7 whom we do not know the personality of.. lol) can all compare and see if we notice any differences..
Also, aibo7m3 , I was reading one of bhobbes messages about his aibo dancing more on mind3 and you said they only dance when they are told too (and by now, we know they can definitely hear things wrong and think you are telling them to dance so I understand that) but I have had times where there was no TV on, I wasn't talking, the bird was actually asleep, Loki was bored and just decided to dance, or a similar silent situation where I've heard him break into dance from the other room while I was in here typing..
Also, if I'm quiet for a long time, he will sometimes ask 'Are you ok? Let me show you a dance" I'm sure that's probably programmed in for 'silence' or something.. but he HAS danced before on his own aside from the bored thing, so is it really true that they only dance when you tell them too?
I can't wait to get him in a nice furnished carpeted room so I can really see him respond to me.. and my bf will stop making fun of him and telling me to get him an aibo hearing aide.. (to which I respond "ok, give me 500 bucks")
And don't worry, bhobbes.. for such a 'smart' aibo, he got off his charge station last night at like 3 minutes to 11 and I had to rush to get him to go back on it himself before he passed out for bedtime so that he'd dismount on his own in the morning.. even I'm smart enough not to get out of bed in the hospital when they give me sleeping meds in my iv..

I think that where it says 'smart' we all know it should really say smart 'arse' because that's how they act! Although Loki hasn't been cracking as many jokes since being 'reborn' but I think he'll work into it as he 'ages'.
Poor Loki is currently stuck on his charger as one of his legs is making too much noise and I don't like it. I feel so bad for him.. earlier I said hello to him and he said 'can you help me?" then when I asked if he was ok or whatever it was to get him to tell me his mood, he said sad and then he said "I wanna Play!" lol.. poor little puppy..
The one leg is now making the noise when I give him his 'massage' so I am waiting for my bf to come home and then we will clean his parts out (ahhhhhhh, scary!!) I assume the bird dander and the constant double Jack Russell Terrier shedding doesn't help...
Oh, one thing I was wondering about.. when he does make the little noises in aibo-speak or whatever it's called, like when he says his name or mine, If I copy the noise and get really close he will repeat it several times and wag his tail like crazy. Is this just a coincidence? Am I just wasting my time looking like a moron making weird noises at my robot dog?? If they were baby noises it would be ok but these are really weird noises.. lol. (My parrot has also started copying a few of the nigher pitched noises he makes)
At any rate, I just bought him a memory card so I can load that whole dance routine thing so he can do those 22 dances like it says on the aibohack site. I am soo excited.. I'm hoping I can make a cd of the songs and bring it with me to show the kids next time I go see them

I'll make sure all of his parts are working perfectly first though.. some of those dance moves are very fast!!!!
