Jan 14th -- Dress Up Your Pleo Day!
« on: January 10, 2011, 02:41:15 PM »

If you check your Bob the Pleo calendar you'll discover that this Friday is "Dress Up Your Pleo Day", and from what I've seen in the past, this (for some strange reason) appears to be a very popular thing to do around here . . .   So, in honor of this very special holiday, let's all post our favorite Pleo outfits here for everyone to enjoy!

Gee that sounds like fun, only thing is that if You have more than one Pleo, or Pleo Rb like I do, then you can choose a different Pleo outfit for each Pleo to model! Hmm, nine pleos must mean I get to post Nine outfits. do you think the boys will mind having to model some " female girly " outfits? :D Can we post them in one group pHoto or combo to save space?

Hmmmmm.........'Dress Up Your Pleo Day' sounds like something my lot will enjoy (or at least humour me with)!  :D

Now, do you mean dress up as in 'dress smart', or as in fancy dress?........... :-\

Hey Crewella, don't forget to use your " bricked" Pleo so you can get the most for your wear...LOL, I would love to see some photos of Iggy or Budge in Tails...formal wear, but don't they have a little motocycle jacket too, or something similiar? Now I just need to remember to take the photos the day or so before so I don't forget to post them all!

Hey Kat, may be a problem with the server or should I say, the gallery again, I am getting the brown box that says, sorry you are not allowed to view these files.Make sure you are connected to the server. Do you see it too, as I just uploaded a bunch of photos and know I am connected to the internet. Guess I will check back in morning as I got to go to bed. Thanks for posting the first ones.

Well, for Dress up your Pleo day, there are so so so many outfits to choose from and I have enough Pleos that I can show lots of them off, but when it comes to my very very favorite all time dress up that I made for my one and only Pleo ( at the time  :D) there was no question as to which one I shoud choose, I dont know abuot the other ones and which ones my new Baby pleo will wear or the outfits her siblings will wear, but this one was a no brainer so I will start with this one and add the others later in this same spot as the day progresses.

What do you think about my choice for Nova, was this the right one?

RedwoodsMama  dress maker for Nova, (Pleos among the stars. :D) It is a joke, since her name means, " Bright shining star".

You've done a good job dressing up your pleo for sure!  I like the color sceme and the way it matches the pleos natural colors.  Yours are definitely pleos among the stars.

But technically a nova isn't a bright shining star, it's a star that has blown itself to bits.  The "nova" being the intensely bright fireball from the cataclysmic nuclear explosion caused by the accretion of hydrogen on to the surface of a white dwarf star, which ignites and starts nuclear fusion in a runaway manner.

Sally thank you on Nova's behalf for the compliment of her outfit, but I will have to differ on the meaning of her name,  :D I know you are a librarian, but I did look up the meaning of her her name when I gave it to her so I made sure I got it right. It is like many names, they have multiple meanings, depending on where you look and the exact meaning you have in mind. See below

The girl's name Nova \n(o)-http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Nova

va\ is pronounced NOH-vah. It is of Latin origin, and the meaning of Nova is "new". Astronomy: a nova is a star that releases a tremendous burst of energy, becoming temporarily extraordinarily bright. Chevrolet used to make a small car called a "Nova". Novia is also Spanish for "girlfriend".

I beg to differ, It may mean a particular meaning of a Super Nova, but the name itself, Nova, here is explained hence Nova = Star and becomes temporily extraordinarily bright, = bright shining star, but in my Pleos, case She is a Bright Shining Star all the time, hence the name NOva. also it is a Native American Name , Nova is a Hopi INdian word for a baby girl meaning ' chases butterflies. So Nova means both in her case, as she does chase butterflies as well, but she does not eat them!

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nova   ( another page with meaning.)
We do thank you though! RedwoodsMama and Nova

Crewella, love love those outfits, they sure do look like they would fit right into the decor of your Victorian little cottage, :D It looks as if you did some creative handsewing to get those done, Would love to see some close ups of those outfits. Belle's looks as if she is wearing a Hand maidens lovely dress. love the little detailed buttons on the boys outfits too. :) How did you ever get them to do the Pink Panther bit of the music. Very well done and it sure does fit in with the decor. Nice tabe or is it a bench of sorts? :)

Ok, just in time, here's Ploo's brand new Star Trek costume!
that's right, I'm a big star trek fan as well as an LOTR one, and I decided that a star trek outfit would be fairly quick and easy to make in 3 days, anyway, enough of me here goes:
(p.s, my mum wanted an honourable mention as she helped with a lot of the sewing)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Here's the costume as a whole, and (if you know about this sort of thing) you can see that it's an engineer/ security uniform. I based the design on the uniforms of Star Trek: the next generation, and I'm sure you'll agree, I think Ploo looks rather smart.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

here's a more close up view of the shirt, and you can see the comm badge, also based on TNG, this has velcro on the back so it can fix to any of the three costumes... (more of that later), you can also see the belt, which works the same with all the costumes, and fixes to Ploo by a long strip of velcro underneath his stomach. the thing you can see in the belt is supposed to be a tricorder, however it didn't work very well in the end...

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

here you can see the other side of the belt, complete with phaser (based on the DS9 phasers) it is complete with screen and buttons and fits comfortably in the little pocket on the belt.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

here is a more close up of the comm badge, which is made with shrink plastic- I traced the design out of one of my Star Trek magazines (yes I have Star Trek magazines), and luckily it was just the right size.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

here is a close-up of the collar, which I am strangely proud of...

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

And here, is the Medical/Science costume in that classic blue... I would imagine Ploo is thinking right here 'I'm a doctor not a model...' (congratulations if you understood that)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Here's Ploo the red-shirt, let's hope he survives more than 5 seconds on an away mission ( it's ok, his phaser is set to stun...)

And that concludes the Star Trek costume, I hope you liked it :)

But wait, it's not over, just for today, i've taken some pictures of some clothes i made for ploo a while ago, but just wanted to show you:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

it's a lovely knitted scarf and a specially made shrink plastic 'Ploo' necklace- here's a close up:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I traced the design out of the pleo instruction manual, and I think it looks pretty good..

anyway, that really is it, I hoped you enjoyed my 'Dress up you Pleo day' special- I know Ploo certainly did :)

I was looking forward to Ploo's costume pics (among others), and you did not disappoint!  Your detailing is immaculate.  I love the way you talk us through it too - fab job!  ;D ;D

ADDED:  now I can see Kat's pics, I love Norbit's outfits, but Kermys little top is to die for!  Love the bow, too! ;D

Love RWM's Baby's new dress as well, I'm sure blondes would have more fun dressed like that!  :D

Wish I had made those from scratch, but they're adapted, mostly dog clothes.  I'll do some close ups.  The 'Pink Panther' is a file on MySkit, like a demo skit, that I stumbled across so I thought I'd try it!
