There's the classic "plunchkins" by cmadmacs . . .

But so far, all I've seen is the singing & dancing ones.

The plunchkins is like a play.  Also, junkroxy posted a link somewhere around here to some "personalities" type scripts that someone in Italy put together.  Not just song and dance.

yeah i love the conversation that take place between them lol it is a great showcase of what you can do with ait of time patience and software. I'm thinking of trying some shakespeare on baxter lol just for a laugh to see if i can get him to not just say it but actually look like he's putting soul into it :p Yeah those personaillities are cool if your talking about the ones where he's shadowed pleos audio. At the moment i'm working on a new waking up skit as part of what i hope will eventully with the right tools become a fully fledged personality.

I like the ones in the pleo archives. They're in interesting things and new personalities.I've only dowloaded the wolf one though. It is so cool.  :)

I do hope they manage to get the PDK out this year, my skit and yapt are great but they have their limitations.

I don't think football would be possible at all simply because there is no programming in pleo to make him chase something...

Well, given a good enough programmer (i.e. probably not me :-)) and deep enough access to hardware, adding chasing behaviour shouldn't be too difficult. A full 90 minutes with two teams ... a bit more so :-) ...

One fun idea I thought of would be to have your pleo snap photos of things which looked "interesting" (by some suitably fuzzy measure) while walking around. Then it'd write the photos to the SD card, along with a little HTML template. Turn pleo off, upload everything on the SD card and presto - your pleo's own photoblog!

The PDK (Pleo Developers Kit) will have a much much higher level of access to Pleo (hopefully)

My skit is just to do skits, there is no permanent change to Pleo at all.

Dino-MITE allows you to dump files from Pleo but not alter them, so any resources from there can only be used for skits or shadowing.

Speaking of shadowing, I am in the process of the very laborious task of developing my own unique Aussie personality for my Pleo (When he/she arrives) by shadowing sound and movements files :) Of course with over 400 files to play with, it could take a loooong time :P

Is it Dino-Mite that has 400 files to change?

You can't change them but you can use them for shadowing ie: making your own sound or movement and giving it the same file name as that retrieved from Pleo using Dino-Mite then copying them to an SD card.

This works because Pleo always checks the SD card first :)

An example is the 'startup' sound, if you record someone saying hello and name it 'startup' and put it on an SD card Pleo will say Hello instead of his usual 'huh?'

How many people here have tried to do skits and shadowing. I think we could have a lot of fun. I can hardly wait to hear your new pleo with an Aussie accent. By crocky! :)

With MySkit and the like you can create a skit (sound and/or animation) and connect it to one of a group of predefined events (back touched, startup and so on). For example, play a certain sound on startup. The same thing goes for shadowing, you can put sounds and motions on an SD card and your pleo will use those instead of the original ones. But that's all you can do. You can't, for example, tell your pleo that certain actions should make it happy, or to take a picture when it spots its leaf. But those types of things should be very doable with the PDK and a bit of time and programming knowledge. You should also be able to connect actions to whole new conditions, like a loud sound from the left.

It all depends on how much functionality Ugobe opens up to us outsiders of course. If they go for maximum open-ness, the PDK would allow us to do anything they themselves can do with a pleo and more. To go a little wild, I could imagine a pleo with a wireless antenna hooked into the USB port, controlled by a personality (an AI) running on your computer thus having much more power and flexibility. Or the football playing pleos we mentioned before. Or my "blogging" pleo.

Myself, I've only tried a slight bit of skit development. And of course, I've shadowed the startup sound so Gob makes a Macintosh "bing" sound when waking up.

I need my new Pleo to get here soon :o Its hard working on shadowing when you can't test anything :P

I definitely want a photo snapping Pleo, that would be awesome :) I would also like to see the beat detection implemented and Pleo to come when called (If D-Rex can do it, why not Pleo)

Beat detection would be so much fun.  8) Is this where the pdk is so important?

Yep although as was said earlier it will depend on how much access we are allowed to Pleo, fingers crossed for the full deal though, that would really generate some serious interest in Pleo then :)

wow lot going on in here since i last checked lol. Yeah i find the myskit and dinomite is cool but they don't have everything they could. When you watch pleo stream data in dinomite so much more is going on there than sound, movement and touch sensors. I'd love to learn more about the algorithms that put pleo in an appropriate mood. The nearest i could think of to a full personality without messing around with software i don't understand was shadowing the current one. I've always disliked the way when you turn pleo on he stands straight up and almost shouts huh, lol. I'm praying that despite the redundancies and the current economic situation ugobe manage to keep going. I really want to see them bring out more firmware updates and a pdk, pleo has so much potential.
