batteries sitting in charger
« on: January 19, 2009, 03:26:34 PM »

Over the last couple of weeks my batteries were just sitting in their chargers. When I put them in my pleos none of them started up. I recharged them again. Didn't take very long but they all worked. Can it harm the batteries to leave them sitting in the charger for long periods of time?

According to Ugobe, once the battery charges, the charger turns off.  While the light is green, it is no longer charging the battery.  So it won't harm the battery, but since it is not charging at all, the battery will slowly discharge while it sits there.  A couple of weeks shouldn't matter, but after a month or two, the battery could go dead simply from sitting there and need to be recharged.  The older the NiMH battery, the quicker it will discharge while sitting unused.
