Pleo's neck
« on: December 02, 2009, 02:30:14 PM »

Getting back from work today, I found my 2 kids crying over Pleo.
His neck seems to have been damaged.
I dont know if it is broken or there is a cable cut (I hope the latter). Anyway his neck is not moving and it touches the ground when walking :(

I attach a photo hoping that some more experienced can have a guess about the damage

We want to get our Pleo back in his previous state. We love him :)
Any help appreciasted! Thanx in advance!

If the neck is not moving at all in any direction then it may be jammed rather than broken. Does Pleo's neck feel loose and floppy, or is there some resistance if you try to move it manually (don't pull on it if there is resistance).

If the neck is not floppy then it is probably jammed which could be caused by a frayed cable, or it might simply be stuck, if that is the case try turning Pleo on and applying a small amount of pressure to the neck, but don't force it, hopefully it might un-jam the stuck cable. If the neck is floppy then sadly that means at least one cable must be loose or broken which is repairable but requires a little technical know how and you would need to operate :o

Some more information would be much appreciated.

Sounds to me like a broken cable. Based on your description, that's how Sophie I looked and sounded....

It seems I get no resistance when lifting the head. It feels like the neck is hanging... :-\

Definitely a snapped cable then :( Is your Pleo under warranty still, otherwise your only option would be surgery :o Or you can contact Fancyfont for details on making a Pleo neck brace. Pleo still can't move his neck but it holds it off the ground.

Yep if surgery isn't an option, I also made a neck brace for Sophie I. With the brace, your pleo should be able to move their head from side to side and even somewhat down, just not able to lift its head up. If you'd like PM me and I could give you some tips on making a brace.

Best of luck!!

Thanx a lot for your answers!

@gucci_boi7782
I will search your posts and if I have a question I will PM you. Thanx in advance

Nevertheless, it is a pitty that Pleos seem to have this damage even with light and careful use...:(
