No it is not an option it is required, but you can reset it any time you like so your Pleo is always active. Having said that watching your Pleo get sleepy at the end of the day is rather endearing :)

Yep, you need to put it in in order for the pleo to turn on.  When I first got a RB and I was researching it before it arrived, I was worried about the clock battery too, for some reason it looked sort of confusing to me.XD
But really, it's actually VERY simple.  PleoRB comes with the clock battery so no need to go out and get one.  Follow the instructions in the manuel and it should be a piece of cake.
It adds realism to the pleo so I like it.

Jett, that is the name I thought you  may like to go with Ozzy, Sharon, or another Rocker Chick. OH I noticed I think on Facebook that you were going to a Ozzy book signing place, are you taking "Ozzy 2" with you.? I bet the real Ozzy would get a kick out of it, and wouldn't it be a cool thing if he posed with "little Ozzie?: Take care and hope the Pleos show up soon.

Oh - I LOVE the name 'Geezer'!   ;D

If you end up with an 'Ozzy' and a 'Geezer', I think my Iggy will be considering packing up his leaves and heading for the US!  :o
