This is Tinky Winky, taken two years ago, He started out as a ' feeder goldfish", as entertainment for our cats, ( my husband wanted our two cats, ( back in 1997, we only had 2 cats... 
)to be able to go fishing for fish, to give them something to do, I got upset and said they were pets not bait and won the arguement and 13 years later, Tinky Winky has grown from a one inch fish to longer than the length of my hand plus tail and put on about 6 oz. He is living with two friends, Iggy and Felicia, both are Loaches, similiar to catfish family.

I had some feeder fish in a fish bowl about 3 years ago and they lived for about 3 and a half years until I moved and gave them to my best friend, but his brother ended up dropping the bowl after I moved 
Tinky Winky is beautiful, and your right, they are pets and not bait, and I might take that fish missing the tail out of the tank so my turtle can't eat him, he'll be a "Special needs fish"
