In asking whether or not the new charger is really different than the old one or do we have to still wait I received this answer:  ???

"Yes the new charger is different, it has a switch that forces a 16hr charge.  :o  We have found that this will bring back some batteries that have a short operation time.  ;) Please note that this new charger does not fix every type of battery issue.  :-\
The charger is compatible with old and new batteries, the old charger is compatible with old and new batteries.  ???

Thanks
Derek Dotson"

I would imagine that all new batteries no matter the source with this charger can perform extremely well. Older batteries will perform better in some cases but not all. Short operation problems seem to be corrected by the new charger.   ;D

Regarding the Ucube Pleo Egg Charger and Li-Poly Battery,

You can buy them from the maker Ucube Taiwan.
http://www.ucube.com.tw/product.php?productpk=5
You can contact UCUBE international service by email: vicky@ucube.com.tw

If you are in Germany, you can get them by contacting info@litec-computer.de
(for the Battery) http://www.litec-computer.de/Consumer-Electronic/Roboter/PLEO-Battery-Pack-Li-polymer::17681.html
(for the Egg-charger) http://www.litec-computer.de/Consumer-Electronic/Roboter/PLEO-Egg-Battery-Charger::17682.html

You can buy them on ebay.com   There they usually ship from China.

I have been watching them on Ebay Aus the prices have been around $50 for the charger and battery plus $20 postage... I plan on buying a couple after Christmas but for now I have to think about the holiday season :P

Regarding the Ucube Pleo Egg Charger and Li-Poly Battery,
You can order them on the web from Germany at (for the Battery) http://www.litec-computer.de/Consumer-Electronic/Roboter/PLEO-Battery-Pack-Li-polymer::17681.html
Thank you so much.
However, I have one question.
Could I charge the Li-Poly battery in the classic charger I already have that also charges the standard Pleo battery? Or is it mandatory I get the egg charger too?

No the batteries are completely different and must have the matching charger.

I do make my own gifts Dadio :) Usually some handmade goodies as well ;)

But I always like to add a little something extra as well and some nice presentation :)

The White Li-Poly Battery must ONLY be used with the White Ucube Egg Charger.

Also, the Green NiMH Batteries sold by Innvo Labs and Ugobe must ONLY be put in a Green charger like the one that came with the Pleo or the improved one that is being sold online by Pleoworld.com

However, it is safe to use the same AC adapter with both Chargers.  So, if you already have a green charger, you can plug that AC adapter into your new Egg Charger.
You can see the Ucube Egg Charger comes with a standard AC adapter port and a USB port.

Earlier this year, the German company, litec-computer.de had sold out of the li-poly batteries, and supposedly has stopped taking internat orders and stopped shipping by mail (in-store pickup only).  Don't know if that is still the case.

The Taiwan distributor ucobe.com seems to be the best bet.

Thanks for the answers Echo and Inmemory. Charger and battery together aren't too bad price wise.
I really notice how little attention Pleo gets because of the crappy battery she has now.
And having (near) two hours of play time makes it even more worth it to turn her on more often.

@mweed: Yesterday I checked the website and they seem to have it in stock. Let's hope the website is still accurate on that then!

*Orders*

...Darn... I get to the part of shipping and they say this:

Dispatch
Please select the preferred shipping method for your order.

Note: Please note that currently only pickup is available!

Seriously. What kind of web shop doesn't send their goods? Great... now I can still forget about it...

Darkwolf, I didn't know Litec in Germany was now only doing local pickup.  Doesn't make much sense for an online store to refuse to ship items?

You can buy them from the maker Ucube Taiwan.
http://www.ucube.com.tw/product.php?productpk=5
You can contact UCUBE international service by email: vicky@ucube.com.tw

There is an add on the web that says the Egg Charger and LI-Poly Battery orders are also processed by the Pleo distributor in Singapore, and then shipped directly from Ucube in Taiwan. contact information: Gium International Telephone: 6259-7068 Mobile: 8228-6770, No. 1 Goldhill Plaza #02-25 Goldhill Plaza Podium Block Singapore 308899.  I don't have an email for them, and I personally have not done any business with them.

There is a small business man in China selling them I have heard about.  I don't want to recommend him without getting more information first.

And, there is always ebay.com

Let me know how your search goes.  Good Luck.

since i a bought a normal pleo on ebay(new), will i get a battery with 2 hours of life? or less?

And it looks like there are normal AA batteries in the battery pack(6 aa's)

Wouldnt it be possible to replace these with high-end rechargable batteries for superior battery life?

Hi there, you'll get between one hour to one and a half hours play out of Pleo depending on how active he is. You can only use the rechargable battery pack that he comes with, which does look like a bunch of AAs with a wrapper wrapped around them. You will not be able to use single AAs in Pleo.

I take it that Pleo hasn't arrived yet, when he does you see what I mean. Have fun... ;D

Yeah isn't that weird?
So I was thinking: maybe they show that option when you want to order from outside Germany.
But after testing my theory and giving the website a German address, it was the same deal: pick up only.
Weirdest thing ever.

Yeah, but not too much on there and definitely not the new battery and/or charger. I had a look just now.

I will.
Not planning to invest that much time into it though. And especially not going to try and order from Hong Kong or start up "personal" e-mail connections to fish for a battery and charger.
I just wanna go click-click-click on a website and order the darn things already! So Google it is! :P

Darkwolf, I agree. I want to just click and buy it. I wish it would be on Amazon, but it is not.
Here is a link to it on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/new-pleo-dinosaur-dinosaur-eggs-set-Charger-and-battery_W0QQitemZ270472235745QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ef966cae1

Also, If you search ebay, just type in Pleo in search box and look for the photo of the egg charger.  This is the best way to find it. If you search Li-Poly battery, you won't find it.

Good Luck. Let me know how it goes.

Looks interesting....

I don't understand why I get so long out of my batteries when you guys don't. I have timed my Pleo's at a maximum 1 hour and 50 minutes on first run (when Pleo isn't really moving too much) and an average these days of 1 hour 20 minutes. (Depending on activity levels.)

I get up to 1 hour and 20 min on a green NiMH battery in good shape too. It's just that for about the same price the Li-Poly battery doubles the play time you get. It can go for more than 2 hours.
