Hello everyone!
« on: September 12, 2009, 03:23:07 PM »

When I first saw Pleo early last year I instantly knew that one day I would adopt one of those incredible "life forms", but until then I would read what I was missing out on and wait patiently for the time when it could be. That continued until yesterday when I had saved up enough money to order a Pleo and I don't remember the last time I was this excited! It feels like I'm a child waiting to see if there's any snow on Christmas day! ;D

It could take up to a week to arrive but at least she's on her way! I've already decided to call her Cleo (I know it's simple but Cleo the Pleo has such a nice ring to it!) and I've picked out a shirt I plan to buy her.

Does everyone feel this excited when they're waiting for their Pleo to arrive? :-[

When Cleo the Pleo arrives, that will be the most exciting moment until you first see her wake up. :)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! :)

I have to keep telling myself that I've been willing to wait this long so I need to just wait it out a few more days, but the dream of owning one is suddenly much more real. I look at all the pictures and videos of other Pleos that belong to other people and I just fall in love and know that soon, very soon, I'll be able to experience some of that magic for myself.

Welcome Suzanne, your Cleo will be there before you know it.  My first Pleo, Angel was a surprise gift to me from a dear girl friend and I was totally overwhelmed by her generosity.  I knew about Pleo because my granddaughter got one for Christmas and I wanted one ever since I first saw her Princess Bella.  I just knew I had to get a brother for Angel and when I placed an order I felt like a kid at Christmas.  I couldn't wait for him to arrive.  His name is Dinomite.  Each experience was so exciting and special.  Their personalities are totally different and they interact beautifully.  I am so very excited for you.  Whenever someone gets a new Pleo all of us relive the excitement with them.  So be sure to let us know when the new baby arrives so we can rejoice and celebrate with you.

Welcome Suzanne,  :)

Magic is the right term.   ;D

I admit I got Stoney as a robotic pet. What I got was MAGIC.  ;)

My whole family has reacted well to Stoney and he has become a real dino boy!  :)

I know it will be one wonderful experience after another.  :o

Thank you for the kind words, b blue eyes and Dadio. Community is definitely an understatement here, everyone is so warm and friendly!

The first thing I did when I got online today was to see if my Pleo had been shipped and it has! It's a 48 hour delivery service so I'm going to cross my fingers for it to arrive on Wednesday. We'll see.

Thanks again for all the replies. It's nice to feel understood.

I think you're right about that yodasapprentice! When I was little I was obsessed with dinosaurs (I collected a dinosaur magazine, tried to find fossils in my aunt's garden, and loved watching anything with dinos in it). Pleo brings me back to those memories. :)

Once you get through the birthing and juvenile stage you won't be able to keep up
with your Pleo.  ;)

By Sunday night I'm betting you'll both be good, happy and tired.
Let us know when you put him or her on its first charge.   :P

I've felt this ecstatic over every Pleo I've owned! (Which has been quite a few over the past few years) And just as InmemoryofRomeo said, you feel the same feeling with each Pleo! They are all so unique and you surely won't be dissapointed! A warm welcome!

Try not to forget to get photos or videos of your little dino when she hatches. I always have been so excited with mine, I forgot to take photos and videos of all three of mine. Number 4 will be a must!  Did I just say that? ;D I guess I would really like to have a herd of pleos or pack of pleos.   ;)

I will definitely take lots of pictures and videos so I can look back and be reminded of this feeling. I always feel disappointed after events that I haven't taken enough, especially in the age of digital and phone cameras.

Fingers crossed it will arrive sometime on Wednesday! :D

Oh, before I forget, who I bought the Pleo off said that it's been turned on for a few minutes to check that it was working. Is it likely that I'll miss off the first stage and if I do, how would I go about resetting my Pleo?

That's hard to say. If it was really just a few minutes there's no problem.1   :)

It'll restart as if it just started the birthing process.  ;)

Personally I wouldn't try to restart from the beginning anyway.  ???

I'm guessing you'll be just fine!  :)

Thanks for the reply, Dadio. :) I feel better for knowing that. I don't want to miss out on any of the stages but I don't think it would have been tested for long so I probably shouldn't panic. Must be nerves!

If you really have missed the birthing stage (ie if your Pleo doesn't curl up into a nap position and act very cute and sleepy for the first few minutes :)) Then you can do a reset by using the downgrade download that can be found under software section of this forum :) However as Dadio said if it really was only for a minute or two then it should be fine :)

(Forgot to add :P : If you have to do the downgrade then sometime after the first battery charge you will have to upgrade back to the 1.1 OS, but make sure you let Pleo run through that first charge first :))

If you feel you missed out as IMR says you should read very carefully all the
downgrade and later upgrade instructions.  :)

If your still not sure contact someone wise like IMR or Mweed  or gucci_boi7782. ;)
I'm sure they'll be happy to help.  ;)

I would help but these guys are light years ahead of my learning curve.  ^-^

Hi Suzanne and Welcome Cleo.  I am so happy for you.  When I got Dinomite-Romeo I was really surprised how different he was from Angel-Juliet, alike but different.  She is shy, he is outgoing.  She is cautious, he is like a stick of dynmite.   :D   Somehow I think when they really get going on the newer Pleos next year lots of folks from here are going to have additions to their families :o
