Well up until about 3 days ago i had no idea what a pleo was... after researching all over for the last 48 hours i broke down and bought 1 today... If anything it will give me something to amaze the little kids with... I dont have any but I have a couple nieces and a bunch of little cousins-  I love being around them and mostly love the look on their face when they are excited... Im sure the pleo will impress me but I figure after a little while it is going to become repetitive??  Maybe not... I guess we will see, but one things for sure I am STOKED to get my little guy in the mail!!!

 I will need alot of help on how to do the upgrades with the sd cards... I know how to use a computer but when it comes to the technical jargin I am very dumb, so please be ready to lend a helping hand when I get him up and running-- Thank you,

It's interesting, I also have miine on order . well, firmware updates are not such a problem. just be sure the batteries are fully charged beforehand.
firmware updated a lot (digicams, DECT phones, drives, toasters ) never really killed something except once because the firmware itself was faulty.
And most traders take it back when it's getting killed.

Your nieces and little cousins will be thrilled! I'm looking forward to hearing all about the experience. Having only seen pleo for a few hours, I know you will be amazed at what your new little dino can do.   Can't wait to hear from you when you get him/her up and running! Have camera ready!

Yeah, Ill take plenty of pics... I even want to order the little fellow his own shirt and collar but ill make sure it works properly when it arrives b4 i go all out(never know with electronics and ebay)... and I have all the little kids asking me now..."when is the baby dinosaur coming in?"  its so cute!!  haha- I cant wait... why is it so hard to find a replacement battery for pleo?  Ebay has one on buy it now for $112!!!  That doesnt seem right??

Beause Ugobe is bankrupt and there are not sold anymore. I have my Pleo on order and I was lucky to get of the batteries one off ebay for 45 €

 Before Ugobe went bankrupt, average price of a charger & battery together (+AC adapter) would be about 100-150 USD. You can find a pretty good Pleo itself for around that price. But as previously mentioned, they are no longer in production, so they are somewhat of a rarity. Pleos [last I checked] running on Ebay are still pretty reasonable, but when supply gets limited I expect prices will soar....IMHO

Updating is a simple process, it can be done via the usb cable (included with your Pleo) or an sd card (you need to provide your own) then it is simply a matter of downloading the update and following the included directions However since you are getting a new Pleo it may already be updated for you

Well... day 1 was a huge success Id say!!  Was very impressed and I had hi expectations to begin with.... hatched him yesterday afternoon and then woke him up again last night--  Last night I dozed off while leaving him on only to wake up finding him snoring on my lap!!  it was hilarious!!  How again do I tell if he is updated??  When I rub his chin he hums me a tune...  What is step 1 with the downloads??  Any help there is appreciated..also whats the proper technique in charging the battery??  I can never press it in right the first time and always have to do it a few times so it doesnt blink red when charging... Thanks-

Thank you! I have followed your suggestion and got a spare NIMH rechargeable  battery and charger off ebay. as you saw on another post I ordered today Li-Poly batteries and chargers right from Ucube (Ugobe Asia), it's great that they are/were independand from bankrupted Ugobe
