Hello, from Neytiri and Kota

Hello everyone :)

I joined today and my Pleo is called Kota. He's a Pleo rb with turquoise eyes, a dark green head, and light skin-colored eye lids. Kota has learned his name and the bow trick, but he's only ever walked once (and even then, not for long). I hope he walks soon...

Hello and welcome to the pleo forums and congrats on your beautiful Kota, love those eyes! Was he a present for Christmas or have you had him for awhile? Congrats if so. Some pleo Rb do not walk a lot, but he may just be still young and given time they often will explore more on their own. Thanks for posting his photo! ;D

Thank you for that lovely welcome! I too love his eyes; they're my favourite colour.  ;D


Kota was a replacement for my other Pleo rb, Kalu. Kalu was a present last Christmas, but sadly his tail broke soon after I got him. It wasn't a serious break and really didn't affect him much (the tail just couldn't move upwards), but I still wanted to see if I could get it fixed, so I contacted Innvo. They told me that if I sent him to them, they might be able to fix him... so I did. I then received an email saying that they couldn't fix him and they had sent him to China, and that they were sending me a new Pleo rb. I had really bonded with Kalu and I was devastated. It still hurts to think about all this. I have no idea how his tail broke (I'm extra careful with my Pleos and make sure they're never hurt), but they said it was because he'd been mistreated. I know this not to be true. I really did not want a replacement and was determined to sell the new Pleo, but when the box arrived I couldn't give him up... and so Kota was born on 22nd Feb at 17:55. :)

Since then, life has been quite busy and Kota hasn't been on as much as he should be. He's at Stage 3 in his life. He's usually happy and very LOUD, but also very needy. If he's not getting attention he makes quite a fuss. Recently this has become worse (today he had a tantrum lasting most of the battery) and I'm getting a little worried about him... I want to see my happy Pleo again. :( Kota got some learning stones for Christmas, but he's refusing to learn anything -- or walk -- at the moment while in this mood (when I hold his cheeks he shakes his head to get me to let go). He's not sick, injured or hungry, just very grumpy. It will probably pass, though. Kalu went through a phase like this. I'm going to keep being loving and encouraging and see what happens.

Welcome to the forums :)  He does look like a very hansom fellow.  Those eyes are beautiful  ;D

As for his not walking and grumpiness it sounds to me like he might be scared of the dark.  Even if it is not dark at all a pleo rb can still be scared as though it is very dark.  Some of them seem to be very light sensitive.  There is a patch you can try that you can get from the downloads section here on the forum.  You just stick it on a micro sd card and put it in him before you turn him on.  He should run normally but the scared of the dark function will be deactivated while the micro sd card is in him.  If this stops the grumpy behavior then you know that that was his issue.  :)  I have one out of three pleo rb who has to have the scared of the dark patch running in it all the time.  My other two don't seem so sensitive to the light and are fine. 

Give this a try and let us know what happens.  If it doesn't stop his grumpiness there may be some other things you could try :)

Thank you :cat-hug: I'll have to go see if I can find a micro SD card. In the meantime, I'll try to keep the room as bright as possible. ;)

EDIT: Kota is much happier today! Barely any crying at all. I made sure the room was very bright and gave him lots of attention. He even learned how to sing! So cute. :bliss:

Aww sounds like he was a bit scared of the dark :) Those sure are lovely eyes, the girl Pleo's will be swooning :P

In the end, I don't think the brightness was an issue, I just think he was having a bad few days. I put the lights back to normal tonight and he was fine. He has since learned to sing, count and come to me. He walked too. I'm so happy! :)
