The Robot Museum by Juguetronica
« on: December 05, 2013, 05:19:26 AM »

Hi just got an e-mail from the people at aibosupport dot com detailing a new robot museum they have just opened in Madrid in conjunction with Juguetronica. It is operating as a way to provide an educational overview of robots from not only the past but also the future and does not intend to be only a static display but wants to be interactive with demonstrations of the robots so people can interact with them. It hopes to be a meeting place for beginners and experts who can share their ideas and projects. They also mentioned in the e-mail that they are using this space to facilitate a Nao meet in 2014. This was a surprise to get in my inbox and I think the only reason I was included was because earlier this year I sold an Aibo on ebay which they inquired about. Apart from my talking on forums interest passing I don't have the free time I once did to spend time on forums anymore but just thought I would dredge up my Bob the Pleo account one last time and post this as your the only Aibo/robot forum who has not ostracized me and I thought it may be of interest to some here.

It has a wide array of robots including the following I have quoted from the e-mail:

"- Nao and Asimo replicas (Asimo is about 2 meters high), in following months a Sony Qrio!

- All Aibo collection, perhaps the second worlds biggest (in content, not in units).

- Rare prototypes, like Sony QTaro

- Vintage robots

- Script robots, like: Nuvo, Manoi, Kondo, etc

- Professional robots: like Packbot 510, some industrial arms...

- Health robots: like Paro, QTaro, Necoro, etc

- Open source robots: like Qbo

And, of course, the Naos v4"

Here is a youtube video that they made of it and I have to say the set up looks really professional and they have done a great job at getting all those robots in one place! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQIgKBh34Gs

They also have a website here http://www.therobotmuseum.eu/

A Spanish news article about the museum with close ups of a few of the robots featuring Pleo and robots dancing to gangnam style. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUCEyI2p0ys

No! It's not in North America  :crash: I guess I'll have to look for one in my continent... The museum looks awesome, though! Wait, are there even any robot museums in North America?
